Abstract

The objective of this research is to obtain the bending  properties  of  composite  material  produced  by VARI method, and to get analysis of polyester resin distribution time on the layer of fiberglass  composite and bamboo woven strip.The process of making composites varies, but the process of making this research is the process of Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion (VARI). In the VARI process, dry fiber is placed between the fixmold and plactic bag, then the  resin  is injected  after  the chamber  inside the  low- pressure plastic bag and the process continues until all parts of the fiber are wetted by the resin.From the results of research, testing and discussion of bending test results that have been done then can be drawn conclusions include: Variation of the number of reinforcement layer on VARI method will affect the value of bending strength of composite. By using the VARI  method  The  highest  average  value  of  bending stress  occurs  in  variation  4  (206,69  MPa),  while  the lowest occurs in variation 1 (42,83 MPa), and the time required for the distribution of resin varies in time variation 1 which takes 5 minutes 02 seconds, while for variation 4 takes 8 minutes 3 seconds.Keywords: composites, VARI method, glass fiber, bending test

Abstract

   Almost all components, both metallic and non-metallic, experience the process of splicing (joining) with other components. Metal components can be welded, bolted and riveted. However, a special non metal materials such as composites, joining can not be done by welding. One type of connection is suitable for composite materials and keeling bolt connection.             The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the stage of making a hole with drilling machine and a variation of the fiber direction tensile strength of fiber-reinforced composite material with at pandan wangi polyester matrix. On stage perforation process conducted by three stages with the first stage (diameter 2, then continued with a diameter of 4 and 6 mm), stage II (diameter of 4 and then continued with a diameter of 6 mm), and stage III (diameter 6 mm). And for a variety of fiber direction using random fiber direction, the direction, and woven with 30% fiber volume fraction.              The results of this study showed an increase in tensile strength composite material fiber reinforced polyester-pandan wangi with unidirectional fiber orientation, which contained the highest tensile strength of the composite stage I in the amount of 27.20 MPa and a tensile strength composite lowest was at stage III amounting 13:00 MPa. In a composite material with random fiber orientation tensile strength decreased by 19.93% with the highest tensile strength found in stage I in the amount of 17.90 MPa and the lowest tensile strength found in stage III at 8:00 MPa. And the orientation of the woven fiber tensile strength decreased by 51.09% with the highest tensile strength is found in the first stage of 17:30 MPa and the lowest tensile strength found in stage III at 6.80 MPa.

Abstract

The existence of teaching materials is important in supporting an effective learning process. For this reason, this study aims to develop an interactive E-Module for engineering subjects in the engineering aspects of household electrical installations. Specifically, this study aims to identify the validity of the developed E-Model and determine student responses to the E-Module. This study follows an interactive multimedia development model with stages that include analysis, design, development, evaluation, and implementation. Research data were collected using observation sheets and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that the developed E-Module is proven valid from the validity test results from design experts, media experts, and materials experts. The students' responses at the trial stage of the limited test, small group, and large group also showed that the developed E-Module received positive responses from students regarding material content, convenience, and message clarity. The results of this study are described in this article using the latest theory and empirical data related to the development and use of E-Modules in learning.

Abstract

This researchs object is determining  the effect of modifying center distance to bending stress and contact stress on the helical gear pair based on the finite element method. And to know the safety factor on each center distance variation within helical gear pair.Gear being analyzed is one of the gears on Honda motor cycles branded Beat. To know the specification of gear, the helical gear geometry measurements were taken. Based on the results of measurements was carried out models of helical gear pair by AUTO CAD software. Then,  bending stress and contact stress analysis with finite element method on  ANSYS 12.1. Optimal center distance of gear pairs is determined by safety factors on the quasi statatis condition.From the research results can be concluded that the change of center distance can affect the bending stress and contact stress on gears and affect of security design. A safe center distance variation is 52.65 mm, 52,75 mm, 52,85mm and 52.95 mm.

Abstract

Every three accidents occur every hour in Indonesia, according to the Director of Road Traffic at the Ministry of Land Transportation, with a percentage of over 50-70 percent and 30 percent of accidents occur due to poor performance of the brake system. Accidents occur due to insufficient braking distance and lack of understanding of the braking characteristics of the vehicle being driven. The aim of this research is to analyze the distance, time and braking force required for an electric car to move until it stops with variations in speed and vehicle load. This research was carried out using an experimental method where a prototype electric car was run by varying the speed and load of the vehicle to obtain braking time and distance and analyzing the data obtained. The shortest braking distance at a speed of 20 km/hour with a vehicle load of 950 kg is 4.39 meters. The longest braking distance is 14.78 meters at a speed of 40 km/hour with a vehicle load of 1050kg. The fastest braking time is at a speed of 20 km/hour with a vehicle load of 950 kg, namely 1.97 seconds. The longest braking time was at a speed of 40 km/h with a vehicle load of 1050 kg, namely 2.76 seconds. The smallest braking force is at a speed of 20 km/hour with a vehicle load of 1050 kg, namely 2098.36 N. The largest braking force is at a speed of 40 km/hour with a vehicle load of 950 kg, namely 4132.65 N.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyakakat di desa Dara Kunci kepada kelompok masyarakat nelayan tradisional ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi beban operasional dan meningkatkan produktifitas dan mengentaskan kemiskinan dalam jangka panjang. Dalam operasionalnya terutama melaut di malam hari, nelayan menggunakan aki untuk mensuplai daya lampu penerangan. Untuk penerangan 4 lampu 5 watt aki 12 volt hanya mampu bertahan selama 4 jam sehingga perlu melakukan inovasi/modifikasi mesin perahu agar bisa mengisi aki sendiri. Dengan menggunakan lampu penerangan yang telah modifikasi ini diharapkan nelayan dapat menambah jam operasionalnya yang biasanya hanya disiang hari menjadi malam hari. Bertambahnya jam operasi nelayan akan dapat meningkatkan tangkapan nelayan. Begitu pula dengan kemampuan nelayan merawat mesin perahu secara baik dan benar akan dapat menambah umur pemakain mesin. Sehingga kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat pesisir. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan kegiatan adalah metode penyuluhan perawatan mesin prahu dan pelatihan tentang teknologi lampu penerangan nelayan saat melaut pada malam hari. Untuk penerapan lampu penerangan saat melaut di malam hari dan penyuluhan perawatan mesin perahu digunakan metode Participatory Action Research (PAR) yaitu; melibatkan masyarakat kelompok nelayan secara langsung dalam kegiatan mulai dari penyiapan, perencanaan, dan pembuatan maupun pengoperasian alat sehingga nelayan dapat melaksanakan sendiri pembuatan lampu penerangan saat melaut di malam hari dan perawatan ringan perahu setelah kegiatan berakhir. Adapun hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah Mesin ketinting sebagai penggerak perahu dapat dimodifikasi dengan menambahkan alternator sebagai carge aki, dengan lama pengisian aki selama 4 jam dan peningkatan konsumsi bahan bakar sangat kecil yaitu 7 persen. Hasil dari penyuluhan ini adalah sekarang masyarakat lebih aman dan nyaman untuk melaut pada malam hari karena sudah ada lampu diperahunya yang sekaligus dapat membuat ikan mendekatinya. Dengan adanya pengisian aki mereka tidak lagi cemas akan kehabisan daya aki saat melaut. Begitu juga untuk perbaikan kerusakan kecil perahu sudah dapat ditangani sendiri.
