Abstract

The usage of carbon steel at present is growing rapidly. The carbon steel is commonly used in the machining appliance and material construction, as well as oil or gas piping. Improvement of physical properties of steel can be performed by electroplating. The goal of this research was to prove the influence variation of strong electric current and processing time electroplating tensile strength, hardness and layer thickness on low carbon steel with chrome. The benefits of this research is to gain the information about a strong in fluence of electric current and time again sthardness and thickness of thetensile strength of low carbon steel with chrome plating.This research using low carbon steel coated by electroplating method with variations strong electric current 17.8A, 22.7A and 27.3A, and the length of processing 5, 10, and 15 minutes. The type of testing which done are to test the thickness, the hardness and tensile test. The processing of data were analyzed using analysis of variance two-way.Thickness layer of chrome increased along with increasing strong currents and the length of time coating. The highest value of the thickness chrome layer with strong currents occur in the calculation of 27.3A and with in 15 minutes of 0.00015 as well as microscope observation of 0.483 where there is a difference between calculation and observation microscope 400X magnification ranges from 99.9%. The highest hardness values obtained with strong currents 27,3A and within 15 minutes of 23,58 VHN  or 12,621% harder  compare with raw materials. For tensile test itself was increasing tensile strength with the highest value of 627.8 N / mm2 or 6.65% more than raw material.

Abstract

Electroplating is the process of coating an object with other metals that utilizes electricity in electrolyte liquid. In this research the carbon steel as anode material was coated by steel using nickel as catode.  The electroplating times and distances of anode catode were varied 6, 9, and 12 minutes and 150, 200, 250 mm. The hardness of the coated materal was evaluated later on by using micro vikers hardness testing. The result indicates that increasing the electroplating time rises the hardness values. The effect of the electroplating time on the harness is significant while the effect of the electrode distance is not.

Abstract

Counseling and socialization of the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is one of the efforts to support Occupational Health and Safety. Welding workshop "Jaya Mandiri" is an activity partner that requires this. The purpose of the activity is to increase awareness and skills on the importance of using PPE when working. For this reason, making SOPs for the use of PPE is a mandatory procedure to start a job. The method used is counseling and demonstration of the use of PPE then followed by the use of PPE while working. The results of the activities were analyzed using a Likert scale. After that, the SOP and supervision methods were determined by the workshop owner in the use of PPE so that it became a habit to become a culture. The results obtained after counseling and demonstration of PPE are an increase in understanding and skills in the use of PPE from employees. From the results of the Likert scale analysis, the highest was the use of welding safety helmets after counseling 74.29% from the previous average of 31.43%. The lowest result is the use of apron (Apron) 57.14% before 22.86%. It was also found that one of the employees who had the highest understanding and skills in the use of all PPE, namely Munahar, reached 84% after counseling from only 40% previously. The skills and discipline of employees in the use of PPE still need to be improved by means of supervision by SME owners. The service implementation team together with the workshop owners and employees agreed to make an SOP in supervising the use of PPE to support K3 so that it becomes a good and entrenched habit.

Abstract

Dalam operasionalnya terutama melaut di malam hari, nelayan tradisional menggunakan aki untuk mensuplai daya lampu penerangan dalam aktifitas light fishing. Untuk penerangan 4 lampu dengan daya 10 watt, nelayan menggunakan aki 12 volt yang hanya mampu bertahan selama 4 jam, sedangkan waktu melaut rata-rata 12 jam/hari. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kekurangan arus listrik, nelayan menggunakan aki tambahan atau mencharge aki yg membutuhkan biaya dan waktu yang tinggi. Salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan terhadap permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan memodifikasi mesin ketinting. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memodifikasi mesin perahu ketingting milik nelayan tradisional di Pantai Ampenan. Hal tersebut bermanfaat bagi para nelayan agar bisa mengisi aki sendiri pada saat operasional di laut. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan dan sosialisasi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan Kerjasama Balitbang kota Mataram, penyuluh Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan kota Mataram, dan Posyantek Ampenan. Hasil dari kegiatan adalah dihasilkannya modifikasi mesin ketinting dengan penambahan alternator yang dapat mengisi aki dalam waktu 7 sampai dengan 8 jam dengan kapasitas aki 45 Ah. Dengan penambahan alternator maka konsumsi bahan bakar menjadi 0,5 liter/jam dari 0,38 lietr/jam sebelum modifikasi. Biaya yang dibutuhkan untuk melakukan modifikas kisaran Rp 500.000 sampai dengan Rp 600.000 perunit sesuai dengan spesifikasi bahan yang digunakan. Kesimpulannya kegiatan ini sangat membantu untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektifitas operasional para nelayan.

Abstract

Wind Energy is one of the renewable energy sources, therefore utilizing wind energy during this time is very wide. Indonesia has enormous wind energy potential with wind speeds between 2 m/s to6 m/s, and especially in the Nusa Tenggara region can reach wind speeds> 5 m/s. To enable rising solar energy (10 kW) and (10-100 kW).This research was conducted to obtain the performance characteristics of horizontal axle wind turbine with variation of blade profile and number of different blades in each test. Wind source is obtained with the help of wind power 7 m/s wind speed. The shape of the blade that is used there are four variations of the big taper, half thin small, half tapered and small taper. The test is also carried out with variations of the blade amounts of 3, 4, 5 and 6.The results are shown in the graph of the number of blades against the rotation of the rotor, the amount of the blade to the rotor rotation after braking, the amount of the blade to the rotor power, the amount of the blade to the torque, the amount of the blade to the cpR and the amount of the blade against the Speed Ratio Tip (TSR). The maximum rotor rotation speed is generated on the form of a large tapered blade with an amount of 3 blades of 865.76 rpm. The maximum rotor and torque power is generated on the form of a large tapered blade with an amount of 4 blades which is 182.01 Watt and 3.25 Nm. Maximum CpR is produced on the form of a large tapered blade with an amount of 4 blades which is 0.48 as a result of TSR of 8.69. So of all variations done, the best result results on a large tapered blade with 4 blades

Abstract

This researchs object is determining  the effect of modifying center distance to bending stress and contact stress on the helical gear pair based on the finite element method. And to know the safety factor on each center distance variation within helical gear pair.Gear being analyzed is one of the gears on Honda motor cycles branded Beat. To know the specification of gear, the helical gear geometry measurements were taken. Based on the results of measurements was carried out models of helical gear pair by AUTO CAD software. Then,  bending stress and contact stress analysis with finite element method on  ANSYS 12.1. Optimal center distance of gear pairs is determined by safety factors on the quasi statatis condition.From the research results can be concluded that the change of center distance can affect the bending stress and contact stress on gears and affect of security design. A safe center distance variation is 52.65 mm, 52,75 mm, 52,85mm and 52.95 mm.

Abstract

Processing dodol jackfruit in the village Suranadi still use the traditional way so that the speed and quality of production is very dependent on the weather conditions. Until now there is no making of dodol jackfruit that utilize the dryer technology in the production process when many problems of production such as product quality and production speed is very low. To solve the problem, the intervention of the use of dryer technology into the production system and its management repair. From the results of the activities based on design modification then with the new system using only 1300 watts power. The thermostat is in the temperature of 900C with a drying time of 10 hours then the dryer is able to dry the dodol weighing 45 kg. This indicates that production constraints can already be resolved. With wet dodol for Rp 30,000/kg then with this tool dry Dodol can be sold at the price of Rp 45,000/kg. Production costs can also be reduced where the old dryers are needed 2300 watts of power while the tool requires only 1300 watts of power.

Abstract

Pengetahuan masyarakat akan energi alternatif perlu di kembangkan sehingga pola pikir bisa dimulai sejak usia sekolah. diantaranya adalah siswa sekolah di SMAN 4 Praya. Dimana sekolah ini sangat berpotensi untuk di kembangkan menjadi sekolah Go-Green dan Enviromental Energy Friendly, sehingga bisa menjadi percontohan dalam penggunaan energi baik di lingkungan sekolah maupun di rumah siswa masing-masing. Metode yang digunakan pada program ini yaitu metode ceramah dan diskusi. Pada kegiatan ini dilakukan juga evaluasi untuk mengetahui % tingkat pemahaman siswa melalui quisioner yang dilakukan sebelum penyuluhan dan sesudah penyuluhan dengan menggunakan skala likert. Berdasarkan evaluasi tingkat pemahaman siswa, program ini dapat dinilai berhasil. Setelah dilakukan penyuluhan,  ada  peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap semua jenis energy rata-rata sebesar 35.40 %. Peningkatan pemahaman siswa yang tertinggi pada energy Air yaitu 37.60 %, diikuti oleh energy biomassa sebesar 36.00 %, energy surya sebesar 34.40 %   dan yang terendah adalah  energi angin yaitu sebesar 33.60 %.

Abstract

ABSTRAKDesa Ungga, Kecamatan Praya Barat Daya, Lombok Tengah, adalah salah satu sentra kerajinan perak. JEN’S Silver UKM yang bergerak dibidang kerajinan perak. Adapun permasalahan yang dihaapi oleh UKM yaitu ketidak pahaman mereka dalam pengoprasian dan perawatan mesin penggiling perak yang mereka miliki. Dengan adanya permasalahan ini maka perlu diadakan perbaikan sistem dan penyuluhan mengenai perawatan mesin penggiling perak di UKM tersebut. Adapun tahap pelaksannan kegiatan ini yaitu 1. perancangan dan pembuatan kontrol arah putaran mesin penggiling perak 2. Penyuluhan perawatan mesin penggiling perak dimana keberhasilannya dihitung dengan skala likert. Hasil yang didapat dari kegiatan ini adalah dengan sistem kontrol arah putaran mesin penggiling perak maka pengoprasiannya menjadi lebih mudah dan sangat aman. Dengan penyuluhan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai komponen dan perawatan mesin yaitu paling tinggi terjadi pada point pelumas gemuk dan pemakaiannya adalah sebesar 60 % dan paling rendah terjadi pada point roll perak yaitu 20 %.Kata Kunci : Sitem konrol arah putaran, penyuluhan, skala likert ABSTRACTUngga Village, Southwest Praya District, Central Lombok, is one of the silver handicrafts. JEN’S Silver UKM which is engaged in silver handicrafts. The problems faced by UKM are their lack of understanding in the operation and maintenance of their silver rolling machines. With this problem, it is necessary to improve the system and provide counseling regarding the maintenance of silver rolling machines in these UKM. The stages of implementing this activity are 1. designing and making control of the direction of rotation of the silver rolling machine 2. Counseling on the maintenance of silver rolling machines where success is calculated with a Likert scale. The result of this activity is that by controlling the direction of rotation of the silver rolling machine, its operation becomes easier and very safe. With counseling there was an increase in knowledge about machine components and maintenance, the highest occurred at the point of grease lubricant and its use was 60% and the lowest occurred at the silver roll point, which was 20%.Keywords: rotation direction control system, counseling, Likert scale

Abstract

Proses pengeringan dodol buah yang dilakukan secara alamiah yaitu dengan menjemur di bawah sinar matahari dan diletakkan di halaman, pinggir jalan, atap rumah memiliki kelemahan seperti terkontaminasi debu dan kotoran. Selain itu, memerlukan waktu yang relatif lama dan terkendala faktor cuaca seperti mendung atau hujan. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, maka dirancang pengering menggunakan sumber energi biomassa. Berdasarkan pengujian diperoleh bahwa pengering biomassa ini memberikan hasil produk dodol lebih higienis karena proses pengeringan dilakukan pada ruang tertutup.
