Abstract

Arduino UNO R3 is one of the cheapest and easiest microcontroller boards that has great potential to be used as a basis for the measurement system. This study aims to develop measurement system of crude oil capacitance by using IDCs(Interdigital Capacitors). By knowing the value of crude oil capacitance, the crude oil permittivity value can be calculated. The crude oil permittivity value data is extremely needed in making crude oil heating systems using microwaves. The study used IDC sprinted on a PCB board with a copper layer as the electrode. Then, the system measurement results were compared with the results of PM 6303 RCL meter Phillip type A frequency measurement of 1 kHz which was used as reference data to determine the extent of measurement errors. From the results obtained, it is known that the error value of the Arduino UNO R3 based capacitance repeatability measurement is 0.47%. While the results of the linearity test measurement of crude oil capacitance measurement of temperature increases using the Arduino Uno-based IDCs sensor, the R2 value is 0.87. Thus it can be seen that the Arduino UNO R3-based capacitance measuring device has quite good sensor characteristics.

Abstract

Performance test on box solar cooker with variations in the inclination angle of the cook room and variations of the cook room cover have been carried out. The variations angle of the cook room are 10°, 20° and 30° while the cook room cover uses 2 variations namely glass and a combination of fresnel glass. The size of the solar cooker is 60 x 60 x 40 cm with a thickness of 0.9 cm. The test was conducted in the car park behind the Engineering Building Politeknik Negeri Jember at 10:00 to 14:00 with recording every 10 minutes. The highest average solar cooker efficiency was found in solar cooker 4 with a cooking room tilt angle of 30° and using a fresnel glass combination cook room cover, the efficiency is 6.7% on the first day of testing. The highest average cooking power was also found in solar cooker 4 of 24.7 W on the second day of testing. The highest water suhue was found in solar cooker 4 at 90°C on the third day of testing.

Abstract

Kompor surya tipe parabola silinder berbentuk setengah tabung dengan ukuran diameter 43 cm x 63 cm, memiliki variasi bahan absorber yaitu alumunium, tembaga dan kuningan dengan ukuran diameter 41 cm x 61 cm dan ketebalan 0,02 mm. Pemilihan bahan yang digunakan terdapat pada nilai konduktivitas bahan. Uji performa dilakukan selama 6 hari mulai pukul 10:00- 14:00 atau selama 240 menit, meliputi pengukuran radiasi matahari, suhu air, suhu absorber dan suhu lingkungan. Pengujian dilakukan di Gedung Teknik Politeknik Negeri Jember. Data hasil pengukuran digunakan untuk menghitung daya masak, daya masak standart dan efisiensi kompor surya. Suhu tertinggi air pemasakan terdapat pada kompor surya bahan absorber kuningan pada pengujian ke-5 sebesar 80,25 oC pukul 12:20, daya masak tertinggi pada pengujian hari ke-4 kompor surya bahan absorber aluminium yaitu sebesar 18,46 W, efisiensi kompor tertinggi terdapat pada kompor bahan alumunium pada pengujian pertama sebesar 25,57% pukul 13:10 WIB. Nilai efisiensi yang dihasilkan dipengaruhi radiasi matahari, beda suhu awal dan akhir serta lama waktu dalam proses pemasakan. The highest temperature of cooking water is on the brass stove with absorber brass material at the fifth test of 80.25 oC at 12:20, the highest cooking power on the 4th day of the aluminum solar cooker absorber material that is equal to 18.46 W, the highest cooker efficiency found on the aluminum material cooker in the first test of 25.57% at 13:10 WIB. The resulting efficiency is influenced by solar radiation, the difference between the initial and final temperatures and the length of time in the cooking process.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang terjadi di Dusun Karang Tengah Desa Jatisari Kecamatan Tempeh Kabupaten Luamajang adalah kurangnya fasilitas penerangan jalan umum menuju perkebunan petani. Minimnya fasilitas umum berberdampak pada ketentraman dan kenyamanan hidup masyarakat, Kegiatan penelitian di dusun karang tengah dilaksanakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang terjadi dilingkungan tersebut. Salah satu solusi penyelesaian masalah adalah dengan peningkatan fasilitas umum berupa lampu penerangan jalan umum (PJU) berbasis solar system. Pengaplikasian teknologi solar system karena potensi tenaga surya di Dusun Karang Tengah Desa Jatisari Kecamatan Tempeh Kabupaten Lumajang cukup tinggi yaitu sekitar 1000-1300 W/m2 dan juga sebagai upaya memaksimalkan energi baru terbarukan (EBT). Langkah-langkah kerja meliputi observasi, perencanaan, penerapan dan pengujian. Komponen utama lampu PJU berbasis solar system adalah lampu AC, Modul surya, Solar Change Control dan Batrai. Berdasarkan perencanaan diperlukan lampu AC 20 Watt Baterai 65 Ah-12 V, Modul surya 100 Wp dan Change control 10 A untuk pemakaian selama 8 jam. Hasil akhir kegiatan penelitian ini adalah lampu PJU berbasis solar system telah mampu diterapkan di lingkungan Dusun Karang Tengah Desa Jatisari Kecamatan Tempeh Kabupaten Lumajang.

Abstract

Thermoelectric generator (TEG) is an electrical generator device that converts temperature differences into electrical energy directly. Based on the Seebeck effect, if two different metals are connected at one end, then a temperature difference is given at the joint, there will be a difference in voltage between one end and the other. The purpose of this research is to create a conversion system based on thermoelectric generator (TEG) that utilizes the conduction heat of the biomass furnace when used for cooking, so that it can also be used as a power plant. This study used two TEG SP1846 peltiers with test variation used one TEG, two TEGs in series connection and twoTEGs in parallel connection. The results showed that the conduction heat conversion system of biomass furnace using 300 gr of sengon wood and two TEGs connected in series could produce a temperature on the hot side of the TEG maximum of 153.1oC and the temperature on the cold side of the maximum TEG of 106.4 oC. So that, the maximum voltage value of 7.19 volts and a maximum current of 0.023A and a power of 0.16537 watts.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya yang tengah dilakukan oleh pemerintah adalah dengan meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam bidang pengajaran dan mengembangkan iklim keunggulan kompetitif serta terciptanya sumber daya manusia yang menguasai IPTEK adalah dengan memacu pendidikan yang berbasis teknologi dengan lingkungan sebagai sumber belajar. Kelompok Kerja Guru (KKG) Gugus Karangrejo Kecamatan Sumbersari yang merupakan kelompok diskusi guru pendidikan dasar se wilayah kerja unit Karangrejo Kecamatan Sumbersari. Berbasarkan analisis situasi dari wawancara dan observasi diperoleh permasalahan yang dialami mitra antara lain guru kurang memiliki pengetahuan dalam merencanakan dan mengekplorasi ide/ gagasan inovasinya dalam pembelajaran melalui kegiatan aktif serta dituangkan melalui alat pembelajaran berorientasi teknologi tepat guna, tenaga guru kurang menguasai keluasan materi dan perkembangan teknologi masa kini, terutama materi yang dapat dieksplorasi dalam alat pembelajaran , tidak adanya pelatihan khusus untuk melatih keterampilan dan kompetensi berbasis teknologi tepat guna melalui alat pembelajaran. Solusi yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan memberikan pelatihan, pendampingan dan fasilitas pada mitra melalui tahapan survei, implementasi kegiatan hingga pelaksanaan evaluasi yang langsung berdampak pada mitra. Hasil diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian yaitu diperoleh banyak perubahan, mulai dari perubahan pemahaman dan pengetahuan tentang penerapan ethnoscience yang dapat diterapkan melalui penggunaan alat teknologi tepat guna. Alat ini dihasilkan oleh guru melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan oleh tim sebagai pemateri, pendamping dan penilai serta memberikan konfermasi mengenai metode dan proses kerja yang tepat sehingga dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran secara efektif dan bermanfaat. Dari hasil wawancara dan observasi diperoleh bahwa penerapan ethnoscience dalam proses pembelajaran sangat bermanfaat dalam mengantarkan pemahaman siswa pada teknologi yang dilakukan secara langsung melalui alat teknologi tepat guna bahkan meningkatkan pemahaman dan pengetahuan mitra sehingga memberikan keyakinan untuk menerapkan lebih lanjut

Abstract

Distance Learning which is currently being implemented as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which has lasted for almost 1.5 years has caused psychological problems for students. The problems that arise include boredom due to monotonous learning, less interactive, and piling tasks. The level of education that is quite affected due to the implementation of Distance Learning is elementary school education. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to do a learning that is able to restore student motivation in learning. Mutiara Bunda Jember Foundation in collaboration with Renewable Energy Engineering lecturers at the Politeknik Negeri Jember held an interesting and interactive lesson entitled "Fun Physics Experiment". This activity was attended by 30 participants from various grade levels at the elementary school level. The results of the pretest and posttest questionnaires showed that there was an increase in participants' knowledge of light refraction, air pressure, combustion and pressure processes, heat transfer and density. In addition, after the "Fun Physics Experiment" activity, it was found that the level of interest of participants in Physics lessons increased, there were 7 participants who were very interested in Physics lessons and 23 participants were interested in Physics lessons.

Abstract

Clean energy sources are becoming more and more common, and the use of solar thermal energy is also increasing. Indonesia gets sunlight all year round with a radiation radiation of 4.80 kWh/m2. The potential of solar energy can be utilized by converting solar radiation into new energy. The flat plate solar water collector is a simple solar energy conversion system for hot water production. This study aims to determine the amount of heat energy received by the solar collector, determine the temperature of the water that comes out (Tout) on the solar collector and determine the thermal efficiency (η) on the flat plate solar collector with the addition of glass wool as an insulation material. The results showed that the highest thermal energy that enters the solar collector is 832.58 W and produces an output water temperature of 320.7 K or 47.7 °C. The efficiency that can be achieved by the solar collector is quite efficient, which is 47.92%.

Abstract

Biodiesel merupakan bahan bakar alternatif yang berasal dari bahan bakar nabati dan hewani yang tergolong dapat diperbarui. Bahan nabati yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku contohnya seperti biji alpukat. Biji alpukat yang melalui proses pengepresan menghasilkan minyak dan getah (gum). Proses degumming dilakukan untuk memisahkan minyak dan getah dengan menggunakan asam phospat 0,5%v/v. Kandungan FFA dapat digunakan pada proses transesterifikasi untuk menghasilkan metil ester dengan perbandingan minyak dan metanol serta lama waktu transesterifikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbandingan minyak dan metanol serta pengaruh waktu terhadap rendemen biodiesel dan menentukan karakteristik biodiesel yang dihasilkan sesuai dengan standar SNI 04-7182-2015. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan menggunakan metode Rancang Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 2 faktorial yaitu perbandingan minyak dan metanol (1:4, 1:6, 1:8) dan lama waktu transesterifikasi yaitu (30 menit, 60 menit, 90 menit). Parameter karakteristik biodiesel yang dianalisis meliputi densitas, viskositas, bilangan asam, angka setana, nilai kalor, angka iodin dan kadar metil ester yang sesuai dengan SNI 04-7182-2015. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rendemen tertinggi terdapat pada sampel A3T1 (perbandingan 1:8 dengan lama waktu transesterifikasi 30 menit). Hasil pengujian mutu A3T1 yaitu densitas 968 kg/m3, viskositas 4,6037 mm2/s, bilangan asam 0,4 mgKOH/gr, angka setana 44,77, nilai kalor 48,81 MJ/kg, angka iodine 8,10 gram/100gram dan kadar metal ester 94,05%.Kata kunci: Biji alpukat; biodiesel; pemurnian Utilizing Avocado Seed Extraction  (Persea americana Mill) as Bioidesel Raw Material by Purifying Water WashingABSTRACTBiodiesel is an alternative fuel derived from vegetable and animal fuels that is classified as renewable resource. Vegetable materials that can be used as raw materials for example are avocado seeds. Through the pressing process, avocado seeds will produce oil and gum. The degumming process is carried out to separate the oil and the gum using 0.5% v/v phosphoric acid. FFA content can be used in the transesterification process to produce methyl esters with a ratio of oil and methanol and the length of transesterification time. This research aims to determine the effect of the ratio of oil and methanol as well as the effect of time on the yield of biodiesel and to determine the characteristics of biodiesel in accordance with SNI 04-7182-2015 biodiesel standards.The research was designed using Complete Randomized Design (CRD) method with 2 factorial comparisons of oil and methanol (1:4, 1:6, 1:8) and the length of transesterification time (30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes). The analyzed parameters of biodiesel characteristics include density, viscosity, acid number, cetane number, calorific value, iodine number and metal ester content in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard number 04-7182-2015. The results showed that the highest yield was in the A3T1 sample (1:8 ratio with 30 minutes transesterification time). A3T1 quality test results showed the density of 968 kg/m3, 4.6037 mm2/s viscosity, 0.4 mgKOH/gr acid number, 44.77 cetane number, 48.81 MJ/kg calorific value, 8.10 gram/100gram iodine number and 94.05% of ester metal content.Keywords: Avocado seed; biodiesel; purification

Abstract

This study aims to design of portable IoT-connected device for vibration and temperature measurements that are installed on a wind turbine gearbox. The device consists of a battery 7.4 volt 6800 mAh, Arduino ESP32, sensor DHT22, sensor ADXL345, buzzer, SD card, connected to laptop and wifi. The device is placed in a wind turbine gearbox that is run at 220 rpm and a frequency of 15 Hz and is tested for 3 minutes. The first minute was under normal conditions, the second minute by giving vibration to the gearbox and the third minute normalized again the test results show that the treatment affects temperature, humidity, and acceleration on the x, y, and z axes of the gearbox. As a result of the treatment by giving vibration to the gearbox, the temperature increases, the humidity decreases, the acceleration of the x-axis increases, and the acceleration of the y-axis and the z-axis decreases.
