Abstract

Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is a manufacturing system that can react flexibly to changes. The FMS equipment in the Mechanical Laboratory of the State Police of Babel is specifically devoted to the practice course of Advanced Manufacturing Technology in the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering study program in semester 5 with 2 credits. The current condition is that the existing FMS tools have not been able to contribute optimally in achieving the learning objectives of FMS practice. The purpose of the FMS practice itself is that students are able to operate the FMS device and simulate several variations of the Manufacturing process. Based on the existing problems, a manufacturing process program design and troubleshooting simulation will be carried out for the FMS practice course in the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering study program. In this research, the purpose of this research is to design a program for the manufacturing process in the FMS device using a PLC. The results of this study are to find out the process of drilling metal and non-metal workpieces and make a learning manual for troubleshooting the process.

Abstract

The result of minimal surface roughness is the desired result in the machining process of the JAINNHER Cylindrical Grinding Machine type JHU-3506H No.3506H006, because the cylindrical grinding machining process is included in the advanced machining process in the field of finishing. This study aims to obtain the smallest roughness value and what percentage of the influence of each parameter on the surface roughness of the cylindrical grinding machining process. The machining process parameters that were varied were the workpiece rotation speed with parameters 66 rpm, 100 rpm, and 158 rpm to the depth of cutting with parameters 0.015 mm, 0.020 mm, and 0.025 mm. The optimization method used is Taguchi. The experimental design was determined based on the Taguchi method and was in the form of an orthogonal matrix L9 (3^2). The experiment was carried out randomly with 1 replication to overcome the disturbance factor that occurred during the machining process. From the research that has been done, the results obtained show that to obtain a minimum surface roughness of the workpiece, the rotation speed of the workpiece is set at 66 rpm with a feeding depth of 0.015 mm. And to reduce the variation of the response simultaneously, the rotational speed of the workpiece has a contribution of 12.0625% and the depth of cutting has the largest contribution, which is 83.8622%.

Abstract

The machining process achieved with a CNC–Turning type SL25 B/500 based on the minimum surface roughness value, the reason for setting the variables smooth but contrary to the processing time because the longer the machining, the smoother the results. On the other hand, the longer the machining process, the more the costs involved. The research that has been conducted aims to determine the contribution of the CNC Turning process variables type SL-25 B/500 to reduce variations in the response of the workpiece surface roughness. This research also wants to achieve the suitable setting of the work variable of the SL-25 B/500 CNC turning machine to obtain the minimum (smaller is better) using a surfafe roughness test tool. The work variable that we want to work on are spindle rotation, feeding depth, and feeding motion. We determined the experiment design based on the Taguchi method and an orthogonal L18 matrix (21 x 37). Then to avoid interference, replication was carried out 2 times. This research proves the precise and accurate combination of work variable parameter settings to achieve the minimum surface roughness are spindle rotation of 640 put/min, feeding depth of 1 mm, and feeding motion of 0.05 mm/rev. The average of the surface roughness using the initial settings in the 16th combination experiment is 1,362 m.

Abstract

Composite is the process of mixing or combining two or more materials where the two materials have different properties, the results of the mixture can be referred to as (composite materials). The purpose of this research was to make composite specimens made from epoxy resin, Hgm, balsa wood fiber as natural reinforcement and carried out impact and tensile tests to determine whether the strength of the composite could be an alternative as a substitute for protective Toe caps for safety shoes. The balsa wood used in the tensile test specimen is in the form of sticks with a length of 16cm and a thickness of 3mm which has 3 test parameters, namely 1 balsa stick, 2 balsa sticks, and 3 balsa sticks. As for the impact test, 1 stick of balsa stick with a length of 7.5 cm and a thickness of 3 mm. Keywords: Composite, Balsa wood, Hgm, Epoxy, Impact and Tensile

Abstract

In the Sungailiat area, there are many SME (small and medium enterprises) culinary types, one of which is processed fried onions. Yuliana's mother is the owner of a fried onion business called "Bagor BTN". Every day 10 kg of shallots are peeled to produce fried onions, even up to 60 kg on holidays. To peel 10 kg of red onions takes about 3-4 hours. So far, the red onion peeling process is still done manually, namely by peeling it using a knife. The purpose of the design of this shallot skin peeler machine is to be able to peel 80% of the onion skin with a capacity of 10 kg/hour by using a peeler and a rubber peeler. The research method used is Method 3E (ECO-EFE-EFI) according to Dieter & Schmidt. The test results of the onion peeler machine that have been carried out show that 90% of red onions are peeled as much as 3 kg in one process within 10 minutes, so that in 1 hour they are able to peel 18 kg/hour onions.

Abstract

Based on direct observation with partners, the problems faced are that in the process of drying the oil of cassava chips, they still use manual methods by drying them on a container for 15 minutes with the amount of cassava chips dried as much as 2 kg and this manual process still leaves oil on the cassava chips until they are marketed which in the future will make the cassava chips quickly unfit for consumption. The problem faced by the cassava chip business partner “Cahaya Bangka” is that they cannot be stored longer / not durable. The expected benefits of the partner can increase the amount of production, faster production time, and also produce more products and last longer/durable. The influence on sales is quite large because buyers are not brave enough to buy cassava chips in large quantities. The solution given to partners is to utilize a cassava chip oil dryer machine with the implementation method of providing short training on the operation and maintenance of the cassava chip oil dryer machine so that partners understand how to use and maintain the machine properly and correctly. With the cassava chip oil dryer machine, the drying process of cassava chips with a total of 10 kg of cassava chips in 4 minutes can increase the amount of production, the production process time becomes faster and the cassava chips become more durable than before.
