Abstract

This study departs from the discovery of the phenomenon of the burnout of learning experience of students, especially those who are already in the fourth or fifth semester of lecture activities. Symptoms of burnout experienced by students are in four areas, namely physical, emotional, intellectual, and low motivation. This study aims to find the profile of students' learning burnout, the underlying factors and their implications for guidance services. The method in this study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive analytic. The sample in this study was 53 randomly assigned ESTES. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire to capture data about the learning burnout profile and also the underlying factors. The results showed that 60.38% of students experienced high levels of learning burnout and the rest were low. Based on the analysis, the factors that cause students' learning burnout as a result of the study show that the factors that are at a high rate are not able to accept if the grades are not in line with expectations and  not confident to consult with lecturers about learning activities. The recommendations of this study are aimed at Academic Advisors, UPT LBK, Study Programs, and further researchers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using interactive compensatory model (ICM)-based integrated thematic learning tools to improve students’ reading comprehension of information text comprehension for fifth grade elementary school. This research was conducted in three stages. The first phase of the preliminary study included a literature study, field surveys and expert-validated initial product preparation. The second stage of development included limited trials and extensive trials through experimental methods. The third stage was product testing and socialization of the results to try out its efficacy. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires and test (pre-test and post-test). This study used a sample of 504 grade fifth students in 12 elementary schools in Bandung Regency. The results of this study indicate that the use of ICM-based integrated thematic learning tools has a significant effect on students’ improvement for reading comprehension on information text for fifth grade elementary school. This is evidenced by the difference in students’ reading comprehension ability before and after learning using ICM-based integrated thematic learning tools. This research has implications for the ease with which teachers can achieve learning objectives with the support of teaching materials, media, worksheets and interesting and practical activities that can stimulate students to improve their reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

Abstract: PISA’s findings reported that Indonesian elementary school students (IESS) achieved their average reading comprehension ability which were below the standard set by OECD. This research proposed school literacy movement (SLM) as an apparatus to cultivate IESS reading and writing skill habit. SLM served as the basis for achieving the 2013 Curriculum requirement. This study applied quasi-experimental method with employed sample of 126 IESS of 5th and 4th graders and their teachers serving in four schools. This study showed that there was significant effect of ITL to improve IESS reading comprehension ability of 5th graders.Key Words: Indonesian Elementary School Student (IESS), Integrated thematic Learning (ITL), Reading comprehension, School literacy Movement (SLM) Abstrak:Temuan PISA terkait skor rata-rata kemampuan membaca yang diperoleh siswa sekolah dasar Indonesia masih di bawah rata-rata negara OECD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pembelajaran tematik terpadu untuk meningkatkan  kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini  mengusung GLS sebagai sarana untuk menumbuhkembangkan pembiasaan baca-tulis siswa sekolah dasar sebagai dasar untuk mencapai tagihan Kurikulum 2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan  metode eksperimen kuasi dengan sampel 126 siswa kelas 5 dan 4 guru di 4 sekolah dasar.Penelitian menunjukan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan pembelajaran tematik terpadu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar.Kata kunci: Indonesian Elementary School Student (IESS), Integrated thematic Learning (ITL), Reading comprehension, School literacy Movement (SLM)

Abstract

Primary school teachers are required to be proficient in compiling learning tools. Based on the results of the observations, it was found that some teachers were not proficient in developing integrated thematic learning tools based on special models to improve students' reading comprehension skills. The purpose of this Community Service  (CS) is to improve the ability of teachers to compile integrated thematic learning tools based on the Interactive-Compensatory model and implement them in learning in their respective classes. The method used in the implementation of this CS is descriptive. The steps taken in implementing this CS are as follows: (1) Socialization, (2) initial observation (in the form of open interviews), (3) Implementation, (4) Checking learning tools and simulations (samples) of narsum modeling, (5) ) Implementation of learning with the recommended device (2 meetings), (6) Invoice in the form of documents from students, (7) Final evaluation. The results of this CS found that integrated thematic learning tools based on the Interactive-Compensatory model that was trained for SDN Cingcin 1 teachers were useful for improving the ability of teachers to design a special learning device to develop reading comprehension skills. This is evidenced by the results of the implementation in the field obtained an average percentage of more than 60% increase. Some things that must be considered in the application of this learning tool are the availability of supporting books and parental support

Abstract

This study examines the application of a contextual learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the contextual learning model to improve the writing skills of descriptive essays in high grade elementary school students. This research is motivated by several problems experienced by students in writing descriptive essays. This study uses a literature review method, with the aim of describing the ability to write descriptions of high-grade elementary school students using a contextual learning model. The data was collected by tracing the Sinta indexed electronic National journal. From the results of this study, 5 relevant articles showed that the writing skills of students' description essays increased based on cycle 2 which reached 80%. Thus it can be concluded that the skills of writing essays of descriptions of students improve by using contextual learning models in high grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Abstract This study discusses KWL (Know, Want to know, Learned) worksheets applied in an integrated thematic learning to improve informational text reading comprehension (ITRC) of 5th grade elementary school. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the use of KWL worksheets in boosting ITRC of 5th grade when dealing with infomational text. This study applied quasi-eksperiment method. To answer the research question, this study collected data through observation, interviews, parent questionnaires, pre-test and post-test. Sample of 86 students from two elementary schools involved in this study. Findings indicated that there was significant influence on the use of KWL worksheets on ITRC of 5th grade. Statistical result showed that t test of gain of ITRC ability between experiment class and control class at level of significance 0,05 obtained sig = 0,000. The increased performance of experiment classes were supported by many factors namely: teacher intervention, students’ prior knowledge which was related to the topic, students’ process of understanding the text, availability of supporting books related to the topic and the degree of difficulty of the informational text.  Keywords: Elementary School, Informational text, Know, want to know, Learned (KWL) worksheet, Reading comprehension, 5th Grade  Abstrak Penelitian ini membahas tentang lembar kerja KWL pada pembelajaran tematik terpadu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks informasi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji pengaruh penggunaan lembar kerja KWL pada pembelajaran tematik terpadu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks informasi siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket orang tua, pra tes dan pasca tes. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel 86 siswa kelas 5 di dua sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan lembar kerja KWL pada pembelajaran tematik terpadu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks informasi siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar. Terbukti dengan hasil uji t gain kemampuan membaca pemahaman kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada taraf signifikasi 0,05 diperoleh sig=0,000. Peningkatan yang dihasilkan variatif karena faktor intervensi guru dalam membangun pemahaman siswa terhadap teks, pengetahuan awal siswa terkait dengan tema, ketersediaan buku-buku penunjang terkait dengan tema, dan tingkat kesukaran teks informasi. Kata Kunci: Lembar kerja KWL, membaca pemahaman, siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar, teks informasi.

Abstract

 Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the values of education contained in the Kaulinan Barudak Sundanese namely, oray. It is a form of children's play that lives and develops in West Java, especially in Cikondang Village, Karanglayung Village, Conggeang District, Sumedang District. This study uses a descriptive analytical method with a qualitative approach. The results of this study are in the kaulinan, oray the people contain values, namely: fertilizing the nature of togetherness, sportsmanship, creativity or love of nature and the environment. Kaulinan has not had pedagogical functions and recreational functions. The type and form of kaulinan oray-orayan are very simple, but indirectly contain meaning that is very useful especially for fertilizing the mental attitude of children. Keywords: Kaulinan, Barudak, Oray-orayan, Playing, Games.  Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terkandung dalam kaulinan barudak Sunda yaitu, oray-orayan. Ia merupakan bentuk permainan anak-anak yang hidup dan berkembang di Daerah Jawa Barat khususnya di Kampung Cikondang Desa Karanglayung Kecamatan Conggeang Kabupaten Sumedang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah dalam kaulinan barudak oray-orayan terkandung nilai yaitu: pemupukan sifat kebersamaan, sportifitas, kreativitas ataupun kecintaan terhadap alam dan lingkungan. Kaulinan barudak oray-orayan juga memiliki fungsi pedagogis dan fungsi rekreatif. Jenis dan bentuk kaulinan oray-orayan sangat sederhana, tetapi secara tidak langsung mengandung makna yang sangat berguna terutama bagi pemupukan sikap mental anak-anak. Kata Kunci: Kaulinan, Barudak, Oray-orayan, Bermain, Permainan.

Abstract

This research was conducted in class V SDN Ekaprasetia which aims to improve student learning outcomes which include the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains on Sub-theme 1 Animal Movement Organs using a contextual approach. The condition of students who still do not understand the concept of the material being taught to achieve cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning outcomes causes student learning outcomes to be low and below the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). This is also caused by teachers who often use the lecture method and make learning seem monotonous, teachers also have not applied a contextual approach. This research uses descriptive research method. This research was conducted by doing online learning. The spread of the Covid 19 virus is very disruptive to learning in schools, distance learning or online is an alternative to learning at this time. The results showed the application of a contextual approach that was carried out online. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of a contextual approach is effective in online learning on Sub-theme 1 Animal Movement Organs. Thus the contextual approach can be used as a model and method to be applied in classroom learning.

Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials oriented to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) that can improve the Construction Explanation and Designing Solutions (CEDs) skills of elementary school teacher candidates. This study uses the development research method (RnD) adapted from Borg & Gall. The 10 Borg&Gall development procedures were then modified into 8 stages which were adapted to the conditions in the field. The results of the study show that NGSS-oriented teaching materials are appropriate for use in learning with valid, practical, and effective criteria. The validation results obtained from the average value of the teaching material expert validator and learning media show that the teaching material is considered valid both in terms of construct and content. The results of observing the activity of lecturers and students increasing at each meeting indicate that practical teaching materials are applied in learning, as well as the results of student CEDs skills tests indicating that teaching materials are effective for improving the CEDs skills of prospective teacher students. The implication of this research is that the use of appropriate methods can affect the achievement of CEDs ability of prospective teachers to be able to present various alternative solutions to problems. The suggestions for further research are to develop NGSS-oriented teaching materials for elementary school students.
