Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of the research was to discover the income of farmers and to determine the development strategy of red chili farming system in Tibo village of Donggala district, Central Sulawesi.   Respondents of twenty three family heads who have been cultivating red chilli were selected from farmer population along with five stakeholders, three local extension workers, and the head of the village. Data collected was gathered through observation, interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).  The average income of the red chili farming system was found to be IDR 19,471,130/ha/planting season, while the R/C ratio was 3.90.  These results suggested that the red chilli farming is very profitable to be developed. The Strength Weakness Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis showed that the strategy of developing the red chilli farming in Tibo village was positioned in the quadrant II indicating Strength-Threats strategy to support diversification strategy.  These strategies include:  (1) to increase the availability of potential land and to make the most of the manpower availability for the development of this potential commodity (red chilli), and (2) to take advantage of the experience and high motivation of the farmers as well as to improve the farmer knowledge.  The Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis indicated that the second strategy is the most feasible program that could be implemented with the total value of attractiveness (TAS) was highest (6.624) Keywords: Development Strategy, Income Analysis, Red Chili.

Abstract

This research is aimed at determining strategy for developing Clove Farming in Banggai Kepulauan district. The research site is chosen purposively based on the consideration that the site has become one of the districts favored for clove farming development in Banggai Kepulauan district. The sample was taken by employing simple random sampling methode 15% from the village population.Total number of respondents was 24. The data analysis employed in this research was SWOT. Results of SWOT analysis indicated that clove farming belonged to III quadran (supporting turn around strategy) with WO strategy (weakness-opportunities). Programme or activity proposed, includes: (1) Application of business oriented management with the use of technology development, (2) Linkages with partners/cooperation with financial institution for capital assisstance, and (3) Cooperation with academics/government institution for human resource development

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan strategi pengembangan usahatani nilam di Kecamatan Batudaka. Tempat penelitian ditentukan secara sengaja (purposive) dengan pertimbangan bahwa Kecamatan Batudaka merupakan salah satu kecamatan di kepulauan yang mengembangkan nilam di Kabupaten Tojo Una-una. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode sampel acak sederhana (simple randon sampling methode) masing-masing 15% dari populasi petani nilam di tiga desa. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 28 responden. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis SWOT. Hasil Analisis SWOT menunjukkan bahwa usahatani nilam berada pada posisi kuadran I (mendukung strategi Agresif) dengan strategi SO (Strenghts-Opportunities). Program atau aktivitas yang diusulkan untuk dilaksanakan, meliputi: (1). Mengoptimalkan sumber daya lahan dalam upaya peningkatan produksi, (2). Memanfaatkan peran Kelompok Tani dalam upaya pengembangan strategi pemasaran, (3). Menggerakkan petani untuk berfikir dan bertindak dalam melaksanakan sesuatu yang lebih baik dan menguntungkan dalam upaya peningkatan produktifitas Usahatani Nilam  dalam menjamin kontinuitas produksi, (4). Mengembangkan bibit Lokal yang unggul Melalui dukungan Pemerintah Kata Kunci : Nilam, Pengembangan Strategi, dan SWOT.

Abstract

Banggai Kepulauan district has potency and investment opportunities in agricultural sector particularly food crop sub sector whichis based on local priority commodities.  One of the food crops that have investment opportunity is Banggai yum.  It is the original food source for people in Banggai Kepulauan district which has been practiced from generation to generation.  The development of Banggai yum currently is still in the stage of yet becoming value added products.  In general, the people consume Banggai yum by simply processing it either through boiling or frying, thus it has not yet processed into flour or noodle or other type of processed products. The aims of this research were (1) to determine the income of Banggai yum farming system in South Totikum sub district of Banggai Kepulauan district and (2) to determine the development strategy of Banggai yum farming system in South Totikum       sub district of Banggai Kepulauan district.  The research location was purposively determined   based on the largest land area size of Banggai yum cultivation.  Income analysis was used to analyze the farming system income with the equation of π = TR – TC to generate R/C  value, while the development strategy was analyzed using SWOT analysis.  The research   results showed that Banggai yum is feasible to be developed with the W – O (Weaknesses-Opportunities) strategy.  The programs and activities to support the strategy include (1) utilizing climate and land suitability in which no shifting cultivation is adopted, (2) promoting Banggai yum through tourism sector by introducing local wisdom, thus easily opening market accessibility, and (3) utilizing Banggai yum potency and high economy value to attract investment for increasing value added of its end products. Keywords: Banggai yum, Farming System, Income, and SWOT.

Abstract

This research aimed to determinefactors influencing the production of clove farmingsand their income at Ogodeide district ofTolitoli regency. This research was conducted from August to October 2015. Data wasobtainedfrom 84 clove farmers who were selected using a simple random technique. The data was processed and analyzed by using production function of Cobb-Douglass. The results showed that simultaneously, the independent variables (X) significantly influence the dependent variable (Y) and the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.90. Based on the partial test, it is obvious that there are four variables significantly influence the cloves production including the number of productive trees (X1), the use of ZA fertilizers (X3), the use of ponska fertilizer(X4), and the labors (X5) while the age of cloves variable (X2) has no significant influence to the clove production at Ogodeide district of Tolitoli regency. The income analysis suggests that the income generated by the farmer was IDR58,102,598.98/year, in average. Keywords: Clove farming, income, production factors.

Abstract

Respondent samples of 20 people were determined through a census technique.  Data was analyzed using a multi linier regression of Cobb –Douglas and income analysis.  The results showed that the independent variables (Xi) simultaneously affect the dependent variable of taro production (Y) significantly.  The value of Fcounted was 234.743>Ftable (8.66) with coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.988 indicating that 98.8% of the fluctuation of taro production can be explained by such variables as land area (X1), seed number (X2), labor (X3), education level (X4) and farming experience (X5) while the remaining 1.2% can be explained by other variable not included in the model.  Those variables mentioned above are simultaneously affecting the taro production significantly.  The regression coefficients at the 5% α level of those variables are 0.360, 0.240, 0.248, 0.136, and 0.064, respectively.  The average production of the taro farming system was 4.370 kg/0.43 ha of wet taro equal to 10,162.79 kg/2.35 ha.  The average income of the farming system was IDR 13,124,575/0.43 ha equal to IDR 30,558,290.79/2.35 ha per growing season.  The R/C value was >1 suggesting that the taro farming system is feasible to be developed. Keywords: Japanese taro, Income, and Production Factor

Abstract

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between nitrate reductase activity and N uptake, tissue N content, N uptake, and chlorophyll content of corn plants in intercropping patterns which are given corn-soybean litter and biochar. The use of plant litter and biochar derived from crop residues as a source of organic matter in different intercropping patterns affected nitrate reductase activity, tissue N content, N uptake, and chlorophyll content of maize. This experiment was carried out on sub-optimal Sidondo land, Central Sulawesi with the main limiting factors being the availability of water and alkaline soil pH (7.21) which were arranged in a divided plot design with five litter treatments as subplots and five cropping patterns as the main plot with three replicates. Parameters observed were N levels, plant tissue N uptake, chlorophyll, and nitrate reductase activity. Collected data were analyzed using Anova and Duncan's multiple random tests. The results showed that corn litter, soybean mixed corn + soybean litter and their biochar in different intercropping patterns affected nitrate reductase activity, nitrogen uptake, chlorophyll levels very significantly (P˂0.01), increased nitrate reductase activity by 9710.86 mol NO2- -1g-1hour-1 at the age of 55 DAP, while N uptake (2237 mg.kg-1), tissue N content (4.33%), and total chlorophyll content (10.61 mg.l-1) were the highest in the litter treatment, corn and soybeans as well as biochar in corn and soybean intercropping (1:2), and (2:4). Thus, the provision of corn and soybean litter and biochar in intercropping systems can increase nitrate reductase activity, N uptake, tissue N levels, and corn chlorophyll levels in the corn-soybean intercropping system. Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze The influence of instructor competency and work motivation on mastery of information and communication technology and instructor performance and its impact on corn farming productivity in Tojo Una- Una Regency . Causality research method using the SEM-PLS approach. The research sample was 151 extension workers in Tojo Una-Una Regency. The research results show that of the 9 (nine ) research hypotheses there is 1 (one) hypothesis that is not significant, namely the motivation variable The work of extension workers has an effect but is not significant on the performance of agricultural extension workers in Tojo Una-Una Regency. Furthermore, the research results show that Information and Communication Technology mediates the influence of competency and Work Motivation, and the performance of instructors mediates the application of information technology on farming productivity.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the distribution of organic matter status as a basis for soil fertility management across different land uses in Bakubakulu Village, Palolo Subdistrict, Sigi District. Soil analysis was conducted at the Soil Science Laboratory Unit, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, from July to August 2022. Soil samples were collected from various land use types, including primary dry land forest, secondary dry land forest, mixed dry land agriculture, and bushes. A total of 16 soil samples were taken and composited into eight samples. The analysis revealed that land unit (LU) 2.2 had the highest organic matter status (3.75%) and C-Organic content (2.18%), meeting moderate criteria. The results also showed that soil pH was highest in LU 1.2 (6.67), while N-total was highest in LU 3.2 (0.31%). Soil texture varied across the samples, with different land use types exhibiting distinct textures, ranging from sandy loam to loamy sand. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for optimizing soil fertility management strategies across different land uses in the region.

Abstract

Tanah merupakan media untuk pertumbuhan tanaman dan memasok unsur hara untuk tanaman. Salah satu unsur hara esensial yang diserap oleh tanaman dalam jumlah yang besar adalah unsur hara Kalium (K). Kadar dan dinamika unsur hara K tanah perlu diketahui guna untuk menentukan jumlah pupuk yang diberikan agar pemupukan efisien. Selanjutnya, untuk menentukan apakah suatu tanah perlu dipupuk (dengan dosis tertentu) atau tidak maka batas kritis (critical level) suatu hara untuk tanaman pada tanah tertentu perlu ditetapkan terlebih dahulu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat serapan dan aras kritis hara K dengan pemberian pupuk KCl pada tanaman kacang hijau (Vigna radiata L.). Manfaat penelitian ini adalah dapat menentukan dosis pemupukan kalium yang tepat berdasarkan tingkat serapan dan aras kritis pada tanaman dan dapat digunakan sebagai dasar pengembangan rekomendasi pemupukan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tanaman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tujuh taraf perlakuan pupuk KCl, yaitu : K0 (kontrol), K1 (100 kg KCl/ha), K2 (200 kg KCl/ha), K3 (300 kg KCl/ha), K4 (400 kg KCl/ha), K5 (500 kg KCl/ha), dan K6 (600 kg KCl/ha) setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali sehingga diperoleh 21 pot percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk KCl tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pH tanah, tetapi berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap K-tersedia, K-jaringan tanaman, berat basah tanaman, berat kering tanaman dan serapan K. Pemberian pupuk KCl dengan dosis yang semakin tinggi dapat meningkatkan K-tersedia tanah. Sedangkan untuk K-jaringan tanaman, berat basah tanaman, berat kering tanaman dan serapan K mencapai hasil tertinggi atau maksimum pada pemberian pupuk KCl dengan dosis 400 kg KCl/ha. Aras kritis pada tanaman kacang hijau diperoleh pada pemberian pupuk KCl dengan dosis 320 kg/ha.
