Abstract

Total cholesterol is the composition of many substances including cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol. Cholesterol examination is one of the most frequent tests required in the laboratory to monitor vascular and cardiovascular diseases. Most clinical pathology laboratories use photometer to perform clinical chemistry checks. Cholesterol testing can also be done with Point of Care Testing (POCT) which has a working principle of biosensor technology. This research method is experimental, using 40 samples that can represent normal and pathological levels. All samples will be checked for total cholesterol with a photometer of CHOD-PAP method and 3 POCT Lipid Pro. The results showed linear regression y = 0.955x + 1.8325 with R2 of 0.9955. The linear regression value is calculated by Total Error (TE), while the Total Error Allowable (TEa) cholesterol is 10%. The bias value is 0.31%, TE for normal level = 5.92% and TE for high pathological level = 3.00%, it can be stated the result of examination can be compared or accepted. The% TE value obtained is less than the TEa value of cholesterol. It can be concluded that the total cholesterol results examined by the photometer and LipidPro are comparable. For further research it is advisable to use a total cholesterol sample that has a value of more than 400 mg/dL.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan imobilisasi lipase pada kitosan serbuk dengan metode pengikatan silang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi optimum proses imobilisasi dan aktivitas katalitik lipase terimobilisasi. Enzim lipase diimobilisasikan pada kitosan serbuk menggunakan glutaraldehid sebagai senyawa penaut silang. Parameter yang dipelajari untuk menentukan kondisi optimum imobilisasi meliputi pH pelarutan enzim, nilai derajat deasetilasi, perbandingan mol kitosan dengan glutaraldehid, dan konsentrasi enzim. Enzim lipase terimobilisasi dan enzim lipase bebas diuji aktivitas, stabilitas termal, dan kemampuan penggunaan ulangnya melalui reaksi transesterifikasi minyak kelapa sawit menggunakan metanol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum imobilisasi diperoleh saat enzim dilarutkan pada buffer fosfat pH 6, perbandingan mol kitosan dengan glutaraldehid 4:1, dan konsentrasi enzim 5%. Enzim lipase terimobilisasi mempunyai stabilitas termal yang lebih rendah tetapi mempunyai kemampuan penggunaan ulang yang lebih baik daripada enzim lipase bebas.

Abstract

Abstract:Candida albicans is fungi that cause 50-90% candidiasis in human. Candida albicans is commensal and opportunistic pathogen which interfere gastrointestinal, oropharynx, and female genitalia. Candida albicans resistant to standard antifungal due to repeated use of antifungal.  Virgin coconut oil (VCO) contain fatty acid which effective as antifungal. The previous study showed the result of Kirby Bauer method on antifungal effect of 7.5% fatty acid in VCO were able to inhibit Candida albicans, this concentration is equal to nystatin 195 unit. Gas chromatography mass spectrometry showed the fatty acids are caproic acid (0.187%), cyclopropanepentanoic acid (1,12%), nonanoic acid (0.54%), lauric acid (32.73%), myristic acid (28.55%), palmitic acid (17.16%), oleic acid (14.09%), adna octadecanoic acid (5.68%). Saturated and unsaturated fatty acid in VCO are able to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. Abstrak:Candida albicans merupakan jamur penyebab 50-90% kandidiasis pada manusia. Candida albicans merupakan pathogen komensal dan dapat menjadi oportunis, pada saluran gastrointestinal, orofaring, dan kelamin wanita. Terjadinya resistensi pada pengobatan kandidiasis diakibatkan karena pemakaian yang berulang. Minyak kelapa murni (VCO) mengandung asam lemak yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antijamur. Hasil uji antijamur metode Kirby Bauer VCO terhadap Candida albicans menunjukkan pada konsentrasi 7.5% dapat menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans, nilai ini sebanding dengan nystatin 195 unit. Hasil kromatografi gas spektrometri massa, asam lemak yang terkandung dalam VCO tersebut yaitu asam kaproat (0,187%), asam oktanoat (1,12%), asam siklopropanapentanoat (0,54%), asam laurat (32,73%), asam miristat (28.55%), asam palmitat (17,16%), asam oleat (14,09%), dan asam stearat (5,68%). Asam lemak jenuh dan tidak jenuh dalam VCO terbukti dapat menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan pengujian terhadap penghambatan ekstrak n-heksan kulit buah naga merah (Hylocereus polyrhizus) terhadap aktivitas enzim α-glukosidase. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan ekstrak kulit buah merah sebagai inhibitor pada aktivitas enzimatis yang terjadi pada pembentukan glukosa secara in vitro. Langkah yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini meliputi ekstraksi kulit buah naga menggunakan pelarut etanol dan dilanjutkan fraksinasi menggunakan n-heksan. Selanjutnya ekstrak n-heksan diuji menggunakan mekanisme penghambatan aktivitas enzim α-glukosidase. Larutan akarbose digunakan sebagai kontrol positif pada pengujian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kulit buah naga fraksi n-heksan memiliki IC50 sebesar 194,11 ppm, sedangkan akarbose sebesar 5,6 ppm. Semakin kecil nilai IC50 menandakan bahwa daya hambatnya semakin baik.

Abstract

Background : Indonesia is rich in colorful natural ingredients, with a variety of active ingredients. One that can be used is the color pigments found in plants. This pigment can be used as an acid-base indicator because it can give a different color to a certain pH value. One of the plants that has been reported to be potential as an indicator of acid-base was red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus). The red color indicates the presence of anthocyanin compounds that can give different colors to acidic and alkaline pH. The acid-base indicators can be used to determined the occurrence of the equivalence point in the titration. Through this research, it was expected to know the potential of red dragon fruit peel ethanol extract as an alternative indicator in acid-base titration. Method: It was experimental research. The research began with extracting dragon fruit peels using ethanol as a solvent. Furthermore, the absorbance measurement of the extract was carried out to determine its maximum wavelength. This extract used as indicator in the titration for determine the concentration of hidrochloride acid. The results were compared with the determination of the concentration of the solution used the phenolphthalein indicator. Result : The extract obtained was red with maximum wavelength of 539 nm. The concentration of hidrochloric acid obtained for titration using the pp indicator was 0.0909 M and the extract indicator was 0,1011 M. Conclusion: This extract can be used in acid-base titrations with a color change from pink to peach at the end point of the titration.

Abstract

Increasing population growth, industrialization and the use of motorized vehicles are the factors causing the increase in air pollution. One of the particles contained in the exhaust gas emissions produced is lead. This study was aimed at the operators of the Public Fuel Filling Station in the Industrial Area of West Bandung District who are vulnerable to lead exposure from various pollutant sources. The purpose of this study was to describe the highest and lowest levels of lead accumulated in the hair of gas station operators. The method used is descriptive method. The research sample was taken from respondents who have worked as gas station operators for >1 year. The sample used was 19 gas station operators. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire followed by laboratory examination. The results showed that 5 people had lead levels exceeding the normal threshold and 14 others had normal lead levels with an average of 13.52 g/g. The highest lead content in hair was 110.75 g/g and the lowest level was -3.50 g/g. With a threshold value of lead levels in hair that is <12 mg/g. The head of the gas station is advised to apply regulations on the use of appropriate PPE for gas station operators to minimize lead exposure. Abstract

Pandemi Covid 19 di Indonesia semakin meningkat, tenaga kesehatan, masyarakat dan pengurus Dewan Kemakmuran Mesjid (DKM) berperan dalam membantu pemulasaran jenazah. Prodi Teknologi Laboratorium Medis D-3 memfasilitasi pelaksanaan webinar pemulasaran jenazah Covid-19 untuk wilayah cimahi dan Kabupaten Bandung. Tahapan pelaksanaan terdiri dari identifikasi permasalahan pandemi Covid-19, menyusun dan mengkordinasikan kegiatan webinar, penyebaran informasi pendaftaran dan kegiatan, pelaksanaan kegiatan webinar, sesi diskusi, dan evaluasi. Tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap pemulasaran jenazah Covid-19 sebanyak 43% tidak mengetahui. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner 96% menyatakan sangat bermanfaat dan penilaian keseluruhan kegiatan adalah 75% sangat sesuai. Di akhir acara perwakilan DKM diberikan Gown untuk membantu proses pemulasaran jenazah Covid-19.

Abstract

Background: Chronic renal failure is a condition of decreased kidney function, where the kidneys cannot function to remove metabolic waste in the body that accumulates in the blood. In the end stage of chronic renal failure, hemodialysis therapy is needed to remove the rest of the body's metabolism that accumulates in the blood and reduce the risk of death. The effectiveness of hemodialysis can be seen from the decrease in serum ureum levels in patients with chronic renal failure after hemodialysis therapy. Objective: to determine the description of serum ureum levels in pre and post hemodialysis chronic renal failure patients at X Hospital in 2022 and to get an overview of the effect of hemodialysis on ureum levels. Method: Descriptive Analytic with Cross sectional design. Data collection was done by using a questionnaire. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test statistical test. Results: The results obtained p value = 0.000 (α ≤ 0.05) means that there is a difference in ureum levels of chronic renal failure patients before and after undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: There was a decrease in serum ureum levels of chronic renal failure patients after hemodialysis therapy, but not all returned to normal values.
