Abstract

Pada tahun 2005, pemerintah Indonesia mengutarakan permintaan adanya kerjasama pengiriman perawat-perawat Indonesia ke Jepang. Permintaan ini dilatarbelakangi adanya surplus tenaga keperawatan dan defisit pada permintaan pekerjaan di Indonesia, terutama bagi mereka lulusan sekolah/akademi Keperawatan (akper) ataupun Perguruan Tinggi Keperawatan. Kemampuan berbahasa Jepang menjadi salah satu syarat bagi tenaga perawat Indonesia yang ingin bekerja di Jepang. Beberapa hal yang menjadi kendala dalam mempelajari bahasa Jepang diantaranya: aksara yang digunakan dan struktur kalimatnya.PKM ini memberikan pelatihan bahasa Jepang kepada mahasiswa prodi keperawatan Stikes Syedza Saintika Padang, Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk: Memberikan pengetahuan tentang bahasa dan budaya Jepang, yang meliputi: memperkenalkan budaya kerja Jepang, Memperkenalkan bahasa Jepang dasar berupa aisatsu (salam) dan jikoushokai (perkenalan), Memberikan pengetahuan tentang istilah – istilah yang berhubungan dengan keperawatan dalam bahasa Jepang.

Abstract

This program was triggered by several problems faced by the partner, including students lack of knowledge about Japanese culture, particularly manga and anime, students lack of basic techniques for drawing manga and anime characters, and students’ low interest in the Japanese language.  Therefore, the community service team proposes training sessions on fundamental manga and anime character drawing techniques in order to enhance students' enthusiasm for Japanese language and culture, augment their understanding of Japanese art and culture, particularly manga and anime, boost their competence in drawing through step-by-step demonstrations and explanations of manga and anime drawing techniques, improve their general artistic abilities, and cultivate new interests in Japanese art and culture. The result showed an increase on community empowerment, specifically an enhancement on partner’s skills.

Abstract

This study explores how learners of Japanese as a foreign language in Indonesia comprehend and use Japanese politeness. Many linguists mentioned that socio-pragmatic skills can be developed in a classroom. This skill is essential for L2 learners to master communication in L2, such as how to build and express turn-taking, eye contact and give attention to the interlocutors. Therefore, this study aims to prove whether Indonesian learners of Japanese could use appropriate socio-pragmatic skills, focusing on Japanese politeness in a conversation setting. The subjects are 120 students from two universities whose level of Japanese skills is on the A2-B1 CERF level. We use the role-play method and set a one-on-one conversation/interview setting. Our findings demonstrate that most Indonesian students had difficulty comprehending the concept of ‘Tachiba’, meaning the place where one stands in a Japanese conversation. Most student participants could not yet grasp the social and interaction level. However, in some cases, Japanese politeness in context meaning is found.
