Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kesulitan dalam menggunakan kata bantu bilangan (josuushi). Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bentuk dan jenis kesalahan penggunaan josuushi ~ hiki / biki / piki dan ~ tsu mahasiswa tahun masuk 2017 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang U niversitas Negeri Padang. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa tahun masuk 2017 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Padang, dan sampelnya adalah 33 orang murid tahun masuk 2017 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Padang. Metode penelitian dengan menggunakan intrumen tes obyektif.Hasil penelitian ini kesalahan yang ada penggunaan josuushi ~ hiki / biki / piki dan ~ tsu pada bentuk kesalahan fonologi yang ditemukan sebesar 20,39%. Sedangkan pada bentuk kesalahan morfologi ada pada morfofonemik yang ditemukan sebesar 48,98%. Jenis kesalahan yang ditemukan sebesar 31,91% kesalahan. Jenis kesalahan yang ditemukan sebesar 8,03%. Dan kerusakan yang ditemukan sebesar 13,13%. Kata kunci: analisis kesalahan, josuushi, ~ hiki / biki / piki dan ~ tsu

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kesulitan mahasiswa dalam dalam mengubah doushi bentuk-te. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk dan jenis kesalahan perubahan doushi bentuk-te siswa kelas XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 8 Padang. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 8 Padang, dan sampelnya adalah 35 orang siswa kelas XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 8 Padang. Data penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan intrumen tes objektif. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu terdapat beberapa kesalahan diantaranya bentuk kesalahan, yaitu kesalahan morfologi ditemukan 190 atau 18% kesalahan, serta jenis kesalahan mistake ditemukan 318 atau 30% kesalahan, jenis kesalahan lapses ditemukan 59 atau 6% kesalahan, dan kesalahan error ditemukan 89 atau 8% kesalahan. Kata Kunci : analisis kesalahan, doushi, doushi bentuk-te

Abstract

To develop a good material, materials developer needs to evaluate the previous materials being used by using the criteria of good materials. This study aims to evaluate the critical reading materials at English Language Department of Universitas Negeri Padang based on Cunningsworth checklist. This research was a descriptive study using a quantitative approach with the instrument of data collection technique using a questionnaire. The respondents in this study were four lecturers of English Language Department of Universitas Negeri Padang who had ever experienced in teaching critical reading course. They were given 50 questions to evaluate the teaching materials in critical reading course. The results showed that Aims and Approaches was categorized as “Fair” (64%), Design and Organization was categorized as “Sufficient” (59%), Language Content was categorized as “Fair” (72%), Skills was categorized as “Fair” (71%), Topics was  categorized as “Fair” (63%), Methodology was categorized as “Sufficient” (58%), and Practical Considerations was categorized as “Fair” (60%). Overall, the quality of this material was categorized as “Fair” with the total was 64%. It still needs improvements in several aspects for example: The coverage of the materials based on what is needed, the usage of different teaching and learning styles, the made up components of materials package, the organization of the materials (according to the structures, functions, topics, and skills).

Abstract

Abstrak Makalah ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana cara pengajaran vocabulary dengan menggunakan online learning site. Vocabulary adalah salah satu elemen penting yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa dalam sebuah bahasa, termasuk bahasa Inggris. Babbel.com site adalah salah satu situs belajar secara online yang bisa membantu siswa dalam belajar bahasa. Situs ini memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk belajar beragam bahasa, salah satunya adalah bahasa Inggris. Babbel memberikan latihan berupa melengkapi kalimat dan mencocokkan gambar dengan kata sehingga sangat baik digunakan untuk pengajaran vocabulary. Kalimat yang digunakan cukup sederhana dan mudah dipahami oleh siswa SMP. Keywords: Online learning, Babbel.com site, teaching vocabulary

Abstract

Abstrak Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengaruh anticipation guide strategy terhadap kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks narrative, report dan analytical exposition. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Data penelitian adalah tes pemahaman membaca siswa terhadap teks narrative, report dan analytical exposition pada posttest. Dari penghitungan data, diperoleh hasil bahwa t-obtained pada posttest siswa kelas eksperimen adalah 3.8. Hasil analisa tersebut menunjukkan bahwa t-obtained pada posttest (3.8) > t-table (2.00). Selanjutnya, rata-rata hasil tes pemahaman membaca siswa berdasarkan 4 indikator yang digunakan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan hasil pretest sebelum melakukan penelitian.  Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa anticipation guide strategy memiliki pengaruh terhadap kemampuan siswa kelas XI membaca teks narrative, report dan analytical exposition. Abstract

The aims of this research is to describe the types of taboo words and types and functions of swearwords used by men and women of Suku Anak Dalam, the differences of swearwords used by men and women. The type of this research was a descriptive qualitative research. The data were the taboo words and swearwords used by the informants. The informants were (men and women) of Suku Anak Dalam. The data were collected by using interview method with stimulation technique. It is found there are five types of taboo words used by men. Meanwhile, there two types of taboo words used by women. It is also found there are six types of swearwords used by men. They are swearwords from sex organs, minor (animals and diseases), mother type, body function, scatology and religious. Meanwhile, swearwords used by women are only three. They are sex organ, minor (animal) and religious. Swearwords have various functions in Suku Anak Dalam.  For men, there are three functions of swearwords, expletive, abusive, and humoristic. Meanwhile, for women there are two functions of swearwords, abusive and expletive. In short, men have more various types of taboo words and swearwords than women. Men mostly use the type of sex organs for the taboo words and swearwords, ruder and impolite than women’s. While, women have fewer types of taboo words and swearwords. Men use swearwords to abuse and mostly to express anger. Meanwhile women use abusive function to express anger and disappointment.

Abstract

Although there have been many studies show that different style in using language, there are very few studies that compare language style in public speaking through three levels of metafunction. This study aims to compare the differences and the similarities between two public speakers in 1) the level of ideational metafunction, 2) the level of interpersonal metafunction, and 3) the level of textual metafunction. This is comparative study within qualitative approach. The results of the study show that they share three similarities and two differences in the level of ideational metafunction. Then, there are six similarities and four differences in the interpersonal level. Meanwhile, there are four similarities and two differences found for textual metafunction. The conclusion obtained from the findings is that they are more similar rather than different and the differences in style are affected by the differences in cultural background of the speakers which are represented through speech and lead to the different ways of producing structure of clauses and selection of words in the three levels of metafunction.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat penerapan strategi-stategi membaca berdasarkan Genre Based Approach guna menigkatkan pencapaian nilai membaca siswa. penulis melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menerapkan strategi membaca berdasarkan konsep Genre Based Approach yang terdiri dari empat langkah yaitu building context of the text, modeling the text, joint construct of the text, dan independent construction of the text. Strategi-strategi membaca berdasarkan genre based approach diterapkan melalui tiga fase membaca yaitu, pre-reading phase, whilst reading phase, dan post reading phase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi membaca bisa memperbaiki proses belajar dan mengajar membaca. Simpulan ini bisa dilihat dari hasil tes membaca siswa yang menunjukkan peningkatan dari 12, 5% di siklus 1 ke 70, 8% di siklus 2 dan terakhir di siklus 3 menjadi 83, 3%. Penulis juga melakukan pengamatan dengan menggunakan (contreng) checklist terhadap strategi pengajaran dan keaktifan siswa. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan hampir semua siswa suka strategi pengajaran guru dan sebagian besar dari siswa sudah aktif. Hasil angket menunjukkan 90% dari siswa tertarik dengan cara pengajaran guru dan 88% dari siswa  tersebut aktif dalam belajar. Data tersebut juga diperkuat oleh informasi dari wawancara yang direkam terhadap 15 siswa pada tiap siklusnya. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara diketahui bahwa sebagian besar siswa mengatakan mereka tertarik dengan cara guru mengajar dan termotivasi membaca teks berbahasa Inggris Key words: Students’ Reading Comprehension, Genre based approach, Reading Strategies Derived from Genre Based Approach

Abstract

Grouping words into phrases is one of the problems faced by English students in using the language. Noun phrase is a basic constituent of a sentence is seen very problematic. The paper tries to explore how well second year students of English Department analyse noun phrases and their problems in doing it. There were 30 students chosen through proportionate stratified sampling as the sample. The text designed consisting of 20 noun phrases were distributed to the sample to be analysed. Each noun phrase was generally analysed into three aspects, namely, identifying type/component, its function within a sentence, and role of each element. The analysis was by scoring and putting them into percentage. Then, they were categorized into excellent, good, average, poor, and very poor. The result shows that about 60% of sample failed to analyse noun phrase correctly. Their way of analysing noun phrase was in poor level on identifying type/component (45%), its function within a sentence (40.16%), and the role of each element of noun phrase (43%). The problem was mainly students’ lack competence in identifying the part of speech and its function for each point.Key Words: students’ ability, analysis, noun phrase, text
