Abstract

The results of interviews with health workers at the Biromaru Health Center said that the cadres had not properly mastered how to detect stunting early. Therefore, it had an impact on determining the number of stunting. This activity aimed to increase the knowledge and attitudes of health cadres about early detection of stunting risk factors and improve the skills of cadres in efforts to detect stunting early. The method used is by providing counseling to health cadres about early detection of stunting risk factors using a booklet and then providing training on early stunting detection. The target audience was health cadres in Maranatha Village, Jono Oge Village, and Sidera Village. The results of the service were obtained that most of the health cadres had an increase in good knowledge from 58% to 96% and good attitudes from 90% to 100% after being given education and most of the health cadres had good skills, namely 88% in the implementation of early detection of stunting after being given early detection training stunting. This activity can be used as a follow-up program for the Biromaru Health Center to provide continuous education and simulations at least two times a year and are well programmed.

Abstract

As a disaster-prone province, Central Sulawesi requires preparedness in disaster management. The role of nurses in disaster preparedness cannot be separated. The purpose of this study was to examine the readiness of nurses in disaster management in Central Sulawesi. This type of survey research with a correlational approach was carried out at the Palu City Government Hospital from June to August 2022. The research sample was nurses who worked in the hospital emergency room. 85 nurses who met the selection criteria to participate in this study were obtained by simple random sampling technique. The nurse's preparedness variable in handling disaster victims was measured using the Disaster Preparedness Evaluation Tool (DPET) questionnaire which was distributed through the Google form. Data analysis used product-moment correlation analysis and Spearman rank. The preparedness of nurses in dealing with disaster victims is in a good category (72.6%). There is a significant relationship between age (p = 0.001), length of work (p = 0.001), and training (p = 0.001) with the readiness of nurses in disaster management, while gender (p = 0.113) and education (p = 0.927) ) did not show a significant relationship. The preparedness of nurses in managing disaster victims is in the good range, and there is a correlation between nurses' preparedness in managing disaster victims and their age, length of employment, and training. Ongoing training in disaster management and practice with disaster victims should be given to nurses.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Nutritional problems in toddlers, particularly stunting and wasting, remain a public health challenge in Indonesia. Tolitoli Regency is among the areas with a relatively high prevalence of stunting. According to data from the Tolitoli District Health Office in 2023, there were 136 cases of stunting (10.54%) and 8 cases of wasting (0.62%) out of 1,290 toddlers in the working area of Dungingis Health Center. This condition is exacerbated by the limited skills of posyandu cadres in conducting anthropometric measurements and assessing children’s nutritional status. The purpose of this community service program was to improve the knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres in the Dungingis Health Center working area, particularly in Galumpang Village, in performing anthropometric measurements using the Z-Score method for toddlers as an effort to prevent stunting. The method applied was health education and training provided to 20 posyandu cadres across the Dungingis Health Center area. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test of knowledge as well as observation of skills. The results showed that cadres’ knowledge about stunting increased from 45% to 85%. They also acquired skills in conducting anthropometric measurements and interpreting nutritional status using the Z-Score method. The program produced educational outputs in the form of a leaflet and an anthropometry banner, which were successfully used as learning media. This training was effective in enhancing the capacity of posyandu cadres in the early detection of stunting. Similar programs are recommended for sustainable implementation in regions with a high prevalence of stunting. Keywords: Posyandu Cadres, Anthropometry, Nutritional Status, Z-Score, Stunting
