Abstract

Kemampuan menulis Bahasa Inggris adalah salah satu kemampuan berbahasa yang dianggap paling kompleks karena melibatkan berbagai kemampuan kognitif dan linguistik. Secara konvensional, pembelajaran menulis dilakukan dengan pendekatan genre dimana siswa mengembangkan karangan secara bertahap mulai dari penggalian ide hingga merevisi karangan. Proses itu sendiri tidak terlalu jelas tahapannya, namun secara umum meliputi kegiatan penggalian ide, penyusunan draf, dan perbaikan/revisi. Pengamatan perhadap pembelajaran menulis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pemantauan yang pasti terhadap proses menulis, dalam arti, proses yang dilakukan dengan susah payah tersebut hanya diakui melalui penilaian terhadap produknya, yaitu draf terakhir atau hasil karangan. Dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, menulis paragrap merupakan keterampilan yang paling mudah diukur dengan menggunakan test obyektif sehingga paling banyak digunakan dalam Ujian, seperti Ujian Nasional, Ujian Tengah Semester, Ujian Akhir Semester, Ujian Kenaikan Kelas, dan bahkan Ulangan Harian. Ini membuktikan bahwa kemampuan menulis harus dipandang sebagai keterampilan yang sangat penting sehingga peserta didik perlu mendapat pembelajaran yang baik supaya mereka mahir dalam memahami wacana berbahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: Teaching Writing, Genre Approaches, “UN” Reading Test

Abstract

Local and foreign tourists visit potential in Elo River rafting tourism evinces anincrease every year. Therefore, it is important to improve management andhuman resource skills. This community service (Pengabdian KepadaMasyarakat/PKM) aims to improve Elo River rafting tourism competitivenessthrough the development of integrated website, Statutes and Bylaws (AD/ART),Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and enhancement of Englishcommunication skill. The service methods are applied using direct methods frompreparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of activitiesimplementation indicate that the activities are well implemented in accordancewith the pre-determined targets and outcomes. The activities executed provide anillustration that it produces added values; thus it improves the competitiveness ofElo River operator association. Follow-up efforts of the implemented programsinclude cooperation between Universitas Tidar and the Elo River raftingassociation in the efforts of competitiveness improvement in terms of EnglishSkills and the administration of competence test for tour guides.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the four language skills that is used to express ideas and feelings. The students’ speaking skill of the eleventh graders of MAN 1 Kota Magelang has not achieved the learning target. The objectives of the study are to know how high the use of Dot Voting technique can increase students’ learning motivation in the report text speaking of the eleventh grades of MAN 1 Kota Magelang and to know how great the improvement of the students speaking skill who are taught using Dot Voting technique at the eleventh grades of MAN 1 Kota Magelang is. The type of this research is classroom action research. The subject of the research was class XI-Religion 1 of MAN 1 Kota Magelang. The writer used test and non-test instruments (observation, questionnaire, and documentation) to collect the data. Each cycle consists of planning, observing, acting, and reflecting. In analyzing the data, the writer used quantitative and qualitative data. Based on the writer’s observation and questionnaire, there is some increase of the students’ behavior change after the writer taught using Dot Voting technique in speaking class.

Abstract

Writing is considered important for the high school students. However, the X MIA 6 Peminatan students of SMA Negeri 1 Magelang still find difficulty in writing the recount text. There are two objectives of the study in this research. The first is to know whether the use of Biopoem technique can increase the recount text writing learning motivation of the tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Magelang in the school year 2015/2016. The second is to know how great the improvement of the recount text writing skill of the tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Magelang in the school year 2015/2016 who are taught using Biopoem is. The writer conducted a classroom action research.To collect the data, the writer uses non-test (observation, questionnaire, documentation) technique and test technique. The data are analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis technique. Based on the writer’s observation and questionnaire, it shows that there are some changes in the students’ learning motivation after the writer taught using Biopoem technique. There are also improvement of  the test mean scores. Based on the description above, the writer concludes that the use of Biopoem technique can increase the students’ recount text writing learning motivation and there is a significant improvement of the recount text writing skill after they were taught using Biopoem technique.

Abstract

This study reports the profile of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) of Writing lectures from the students’ perspective. It described the students’ attitudes and opinion on the implementation of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) during joining the teaching-learning activities of writing class. Adopting qualitative descriptive study framework, fifty students participated in fulfilling the questionnaires on the implementation of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK). Closed questionnaire was implemented as the research instrument in collecting the data. Closed questionnaire was used to measure 7 (seven) TPACK domains, namely: 1. Technological Knowledge, 2. Pedagogical Knowledge, 3. Content Knowledge, 4. Technological Pedagogical Knowledge, 5. Technological Content Knowledge, 6. Pedagogical Content Knowledge, 7. Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. The results show that the ability of lecturers of writing class in applying TPACK is at enough criteria.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid 19 yang terjadi saat ini telah membuat perubahan yang besar dalam dunia pendidikan di Indonesia. Salah satunya, yaitu adanya perubahan dalam penerapan pembelajaran yang semula konvensional atau secara tatap muka berubah menjadi daring. Perubahan ini tentu saja menimbulkan beberapa permasalahan, sebagaimana dirasakan oleh siswa kelas 1 SD Negeri Ngargoretno 1. Beberapa permasalahan yang muncul seperti sarana dan prasarana yang kurang mendukung, akses sinyal yang sulit, kemampuan orang tua dalam menggunakan teknologi rendah, serta minat belajar siswa yang menurun. Berdasarkan observasi, penulis menemukan bahwa kemampuan siswa kelas satu SD Negeri Ngargoretno 1 dalam mengenal huruf juga masih rendah. Sekitar 75% dari keseluruhan siswa kelas satu belum memahami huruf dengan baik. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat kali ini dilaksanakan guna membantu siswa kelas 1 dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menghafal huruf. Penyebab lain dari masih rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam mengenal huruf yaitu karena kurangnya media pembelajaran yang dimiliki oleh siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptive. Untuk membantu menyelesaikan permasalahan di atas, penulis membuat media interaktif berupa buku “Bermain dan Belajar ABC” yang dapat digunakan oleh siswa kelas 1 SD Negeri Ngargoretno 1 dalam menghafal huruf. Di akhir kegiatan dilakukan survey mengenai kepuasan serta peningkatan siswa setelah menggunakan buku tersebut. Hasil survey menunjukkan bahwa mereka merasa senang dan dapat mengingat huruf dengan mudah setelah menggunakan buku tersebut. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan buku bergambar interaktif ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami dan menghafal huruf di kelas I SDN Ngargoretno 1.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui apakah anak-anak di desa sasaran telah melaksanakan protokol kesehatan pencegahan covid-19. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan secara langsung atau luring (luar jaringan). Kegiatan diadakan secara luring karena sekolah setempat masih mengadakan kegiatan belajar secara langsung seminggu sekali. Mayoritas orang tua siswa masih belum memiliki perangkat gawai yang mendukung proses belajar secara daring (dalam jaringan). Kami melaksanakan pengamatan terlebih dahulu untuk menemukan permasalahan yang perlu dikaji dan selanjutnya kami mengadakan kegiatan edukasi kepada anak-anak. Edukasi kepada anak-anak diberikan agar anak menjadi lebih mengetahui bahaya dan cara pencegahan covid-19 dan mengurangi resiko terinfeksi dari teman sebaya.

Abstract

This community service aims to improve tour guides’ skills in delivering environmental education in English and enhance their environmental awareness attitude. The activity implementation method is direct method from preparation, implementation, evaluation, and discussion of follow-up efforts. The activity results indicate that the activity run well in accordance with the pre-determined targets and outcomes. The activity conducted provides an illustration that the training generates added value in environmental education conveyed in English to the visitors as well as to the tour guides in their attitude toward the environment. Follow-up efforts to be executed next year include creating a profile of each tree around the Elo River and environmental-themed photo spots.

Abstract

Scientific literacy can prepare quality human resources who can develop the ability to think logically and creatively, solve problems, be critical, master technology and be adaptive in the face of change and face the times. A vital component to improving students' scientific literacy is understanding the Nature of Science (NoS), which must be emphasized in science learning. The purpose of this study is to obtain a comparison of content and explain aspects of NoS in science textbooks in Indonesia and Singapore. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative with content analysis design. This research focuses on science books for Junior High School Class IX Semester 1 Curriculum 2013 Revised Edition 2018, Integrated Science Books for Junior High School Class IX Curriculum 2013 Revised Edition 2018, and Lower Secondary Science Matters Textbook Volume B 2nd Edition 2013. The data collection techniques are by reviewing documents with non-test instruments in the form of observation guidelines for assessing textbooks based on the NoS aspect developed by Abd-El-Khalick et al., (2008). The data analysis technique uses the fixed comparison method by Moleong (2014). The results obtained are that the textbooks from the two countries have represented several relevant aspects of NoS. Still, the theoretically-driven elements have not been found in the three books, and the existing components have not been well described. Science textbooks in Singapore get a higher score than science textbooks in Indonesia. Still, the availability of the NoS aspect of science textbooks in Indonesia is more than that of science textbooks in Singapore.

Abstract

A model for better educational practices is being developed as a result of the expansion of educational research as a branch of science, according to the researchers working in this area. Research and Development (R&D) Method is one of the best model designs. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research methodology that depicts the scenario as it relates to an indicator or the current status of the findings in the field. In this study, the methods for gathering data and information were interviewing, and documenting studies of the necessary data sources.
