Abstract

Bangunan dengan fungsi perkantoran semakin memberikan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan dikarenakan intensitas konsumsi energi yang tinggi menghasilkan emisi karbon yang juga tinggi. Solusi nyata sangat dibutuhkan, disatu sisi ada pendekatan desain Biomimikri yang meniru elemen alam untuk menciptakan solusi inovatif dan berkelanjutan. Dalam arsitektur, biomimikri menghadirkan cara efektif untuk mengatasi tantangan desain dengan memanfaatkan prinsip-prinsip ekosistem yang telah terbentuk selama miliaran tahun. Pada desain perkantoran, biomimikri berperan penting dalam menciptakan ruang kerja efisien, nyaman, dan berkelanjutan, misalnya melalui ventilasi yang terinspirasi sistem pernapasan tumbuhan atau optimalisasi cahaya alami untuk mengurangi konsumsi energi dan mengingkatkan efisiensi energi. Pendekatan ini juga menawarkan solusi adaptif terhadap kebutuhan modern, seperti fleksibilitas ruang kerja pascapandemi yang menggabungkan model kerja hibrida. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pemahaman masyarakat produktif terhadap penerapan biomimikri pada desain perkantoran, khususnya dalam efisiensi energi, kenyamanan termal, dan pengelolaan sumber daya. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan metode campuran (mixed-methods) yang dimulai dari survei kualitatif untuk eksplorasi tema dilanjutkan dengan survei kuantitatif untuk menguji hipotesis. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi dua dimensi utama yaitu Daya Tarik Inovasi dan Fungsional dan Daya Tarik Pasar dan Sosial yang memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kecenderungan penerimaan desain Biomimikri. Hasil tersebut selaras dengan prinsip Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) yang menyatakan bahwa perceived usefulness dan social/image influence merupakan determinan utama dalam penerimaan inovasi.

Abstract

Biophilic Design is an architectural approach that seeks to restore and strengthen the human connection with nature as a means to enhance the physical and psychological well-being of building occupants. Over the past two decades, this concept has gained substantial attention across academic disciplines and professional practices worldwide. However, despite its growing prominence, there remains a lack of structured research methodologies that systematically explore the application of Biophilic Design principles across diverse architectural contexts. This study addresses that gap by proposing a systematic protocol for conducting case study research grounded in the theoretical framework of Biophilic Design. The aim is to provide clear and replicable methodological guidance for investigating how nature-based design strategies can support contextual and regenerative practices in architecture, including but not limited to vernacular or traditional environments. The research method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of peer-reviewed publications from reputable databases including Scopus, Web of Science (ESCI), and DOAJ, focusing on studies published between 2019 and 2024. Based on the synthesis of the selected literature, the study formulates a seven-stage protocol for case study research. These stages include case selection, data collection techniques such as field observation and in-depth interviews, and thematic analysis for qualitative data interpretation. The findings highlight the necessity of involving key stakeholders—such as cultural experts, historians, and anthropologists—throughout the research process to ensure accurate interpretation of local ecological and cultural values. This protocol is expected to serve as a methodological reference for researchers and practitioners seeking to implement Biophilic Design in a way that is context-sensitive, socially and ecologically regenerative, and rooted in local wisdom.

Abstract

Highly populated areas are prone to fire hazards; hence, there is a need for proper evacuation routes. The high building density and limited access roads obstruct movement during emergencies. Most previous studies focused on structural barriers, while non-structural factors like community behavior, preparedness, and risk perception have received less attention. This paper will present an analysis of the impact of both evacuation barriers and community risk perception on recommended fire evacuation route improvements in highly populated areas. A sequential exploratory mixed-methods approach was used, with qualitative data from 111 respondents and quantitative data from 278 respondents analyzed through multivariate linear regression. The results indicate that non-structural barriers, preparedness levels, and community anxiety significantly influence recommendations for improving evacuation routes, while structural barriers have no effect. These findings confirm that behavioral and social barriers are more dominant than physical barriers in densely populated settlements. This study recommends improving risk literacy, conducting evacuation simulations, and establishing resident-based fire response teams to strengthen community-based mitigation.

Abstract

Classroom plays a critical role in determining the visual legibility of instructional media, directly influencing students’ comfort, concentration, and learning outcomes. Inadequate lighting design, particularly in relation to window orientation and spatial configuration, can cause glare, uneven illuminance, and poor contrast, thereby impairing the readability of both blackboards and projection screens. This study maps how established theories of visual comfort are perceived by students as classroom users under real conditions. A mixed-methods design was employed, beginning with an exploratory qualitative phase to identify students’ perceptions of ideal classroom lighting, followed by a quantitative survey analyzed using multivariate correlation techniques. Data were collected from 135 student respondents across various educational levels. The results indicate that glare from windows shows a strong positive correlation (r = 0.612) with visibility disturbance, while window orientation exhibits a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.386–0.462) with visual clarity of learning media. The accuracy of luminaire placement (r = 0.447–0.483), lamp intensity (r = 0.344–0.367), and lamp color temperature (r = 0.345–0.399) show moderate correlations with visual clarity. In contrast, the number of windows and the adequacy of daylight show weaker correlations (r < 0.300) with visual clarity variables. These findings indicate that glare control, window orientation, and the configuration of artificial lighting have a more dominant influence from the students’ perspective.

Abstract

Abstract: The need for parking in residential or residential areas in Indonesia causes problems due to the unavailability of sufficient land. Rapid population growth has resulted in the increasing number of private vehicles making the need for parking areas increasing, especially in residential environments. This problem arises not only in the upper economic class, but also in the middle and lower economic class, who have more than one vehicle, especially two-wheeled vehicles. This study aims to identify the pattern of placement of parking spaces in residential homes based on people's preferences. The research data was obtained through an online questionnaire which was processed qualitatively in collaboration with grounded theory which is exploratory. The results showed 3 patterns of placement of vehicle parking spaces in the occupied dwellings. This research is expected to provide an overview for residential designers and the development of residential areas according to community needs.Keyword: housing, parking needs, private vehicles, preferencesAbstrak: Kebutuhan parkir di lingkungan hunian atau rumah tinggal di Indonesia menimbulkan masalah akibat tidak tersedianya lahan yang cukup. Pertumbuhan penduduk yang pesat berakibat pada meningkatnya jumlah kendaraan pribadi membuat kebutuhan lahan parkir semakin meningkat khususnya pada lingkungan rumah tinggal. Permasalahan ini muncul tidak hanya masyarakat golongan ekonomi atas, namun juga muncul pada masyarakat golongan ekonomi menengah dan bawah, yang memiliki kendaraan lebih dari satu unit, terutama kendaraan roda dua. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi pola perletakan tempat parkir di rumah tinggal berdasarkan preferensi masyarakat. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui kuisioner daring yang diolah secara kualitatif dikolaborasikan dengan grounded theory yang bersifat explorasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan 3 pola perletakan tempat parkir kendaraan pada hunian yang ditinggali. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran bagi para perancang hunian dan pengembangan kawasan hunian sesuai kebutuhan masyarakat.Kata Kunci: kebutuhan parkir, kendaraan pribadi, preferensi, rumah tinggal

Abstract

Abstract: Environmental problems are caused by climatic conditions and the results of sunlight entering buildings that cannot be controlled. Shading device become part of the building and interact directly with the environment and space in the building. Shading device can be applied to buildings to respond to environmental conditions such as solar radiation. Conditioning solar radiation entering buildings can be reduced to reduce building energy use. The results of this simulation show that the length (P) and angle (S) parameters have a significant positive effect on decreasing the intensity of solar radiation. Elements of the Horizontal Louvers type with a change in the value of the Angle (S) parameter from the basic design results in a decrease in radiation intensity of up to 44.3% when the angle changes to 150 with respect to the horizontal wall. In the Brise-Soleil Semi Façade With Louvers type, changing the value of the Length parameter (P) from the basic design results in a decrease in radiation intensity of up to 40.3% in the shading element with a length of 0.8 meters. On the other hand, changes in the distance parameter (J) of the shading element to the horizontal wall tend to increase the intensity of solar radiation. In the Horizontal Louvers type, the change in the parameter Distance (J) to the wall with a distance of 0.3 meters from the horizontal wall results in an increase in intensity of up to 81.1% when compared to the design basis.Keyword: Shading Device, Solar Radiation, Design Parameters, Vertical HousingAbstrak: Permasalahan lingkungan disebabkan oleh kondisi iklim dan akibat sinar matahari yang masuk ke bangunan yang tidak dapat dikendalikan. Perangkat peneduh menjadi bagian dari bangunan dan berinteraksi langsung dengan lingkungan dan ruang di dalam bangunan. Shading device dapat diterapkan pada bangunan untuk merespon kondisi lingkungan seperti radiasi matahari. Pengkondisian radiasi matahari yang masuk ke gedung dapat dikurangi untuk mengurangi penggunaan energi gedung. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa parameter panjang (P) dan sudut (S) berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap penurunan intensitas penyinaran matahari. Elemen tipe Horizontal Louvers dengan perubahan nilai parameter Angle (S) dari desain dasar menghasilkan penurunan intensitas radiasi hingga 44,3% ketika sudut berubah menjadi 150 terhadap dinding horizontal. Pada tipe Brise-Soleil Semi Façade With Louvers, perubahan nilai parameter Length (P) dari basic design menghasilkan penurunan intensitas radiasi hingga 40,3% pada shading element dengan panjang 0,8 meter. Sebaliknya, perubahan parameter jarak (J) elemen peneduh ke dinding horizontal cenderung meningkatkan intensitas penyinaran matahari. Pada tipe Horizontal Louvers, perubahan parameter Jarak (J) ke dinding dengan jarak 0,3 meter dari dinding horizontal menghasilkan peningkatan intensitas hingga 81,1% jika dibandingkan dengan desain dasar.Kata Kunci: Elemen Pembayang, Radiasi Matahari, Parameter Desain, Hunian Vertikal

Abstract

Abstract: The discourses on climate change have become an issue in the construction industry in Indonesia for decades. Then, it becomes a consideration in the building design process. This paper focuses on renovation and retrofitting, which has differing meanings. The term renovation refers to the process of returning something to a good state of repair. In the construction industry, improvement relates to improving or modernizing an old, damaged, or defective building. The opposed to the term retrofitting, which is providing something with a component or feature not fitted initially. Retrofitting means providing something with a part not fitted during manufacture or adding something it did not have when first constructed. In this research, a case study is adopted as the data collection approach because this method can help the researcher demonstrate the relationship between the buildings and the tools that cause the green building assessment. The professionals from Java Island, Indonesia, as respondents. Architects, structural engineers, mechanical & electrical engineers, and construction managers work. It is aimed to see the phenomenon that occurs within sixteen years (2008-2020) for Professionals who do renovation & retrofitting work. Furthermore, it will identify sustainability initiatives that will mention the phenomena within ten years backward on renovating & retrofitting the current building to achieve the green assessment. The new scheme of phenomena is a finding that involves much thinking and practical consideration of the local institutional and building sector issues to the future as the target of the Green Renovation & Retrofitting on pre-construction to the current building. Moreover, this phenomenon will be related to developing renovation & retrofitting work in Indonesia that is expected to affect the professional profile in anticipation of global warming in the future.Keywords: green practice, renovation, retrofitting, phenomenon, pre-constructionAbstrak: Wacana tentang perubahan iklim telah menjadi isu dalam industri konstruksi di Indonesia selama beberapa dekade. Kemudian menjadi pertimbangan dalam proses perancangan bangunan. Tulisan ini berfokus pada renovasi dan perkuatan, yang memiliki arti berbeda. Istilah renovasi mengacu pada proses mengembalikan sesuatu ke kondisi perbaikan yang baik. Dalam industri konstruksi, perbaikan berkaitan dengan peningkatan atau modernisasi bangunan tua, rusak, atau cacat. Kebalikan dari istilah retrofitting, yaitu menyediakan sesuatu dengan komponen atau fitur yang awalnya tidak dipasang. Perkuatan berarti menyediakan sesuatu dengan bagian yang tidak dipasang selama pembuatan atau menambahkan sesuatu yang tidak dimiliki saat pertama kali dibangun. Dalam penelitian ini, studi kasus diadopsi sebagai pendekatan pengumpulan data karena metode ini dapat membantu peneliti menunjukkan hubungan antara bangunan dan alat yang menyebabkan penilaian bangunan hijau. Para profesional dari Pulau Jawa, Indonesia, sebagai responden. Arsitek, insinyur struktural, insinyur mekanik & listrik, dan manajer konstruksi bekerja. Hal ini bertujuan untuk melihat fenomena yang terjadi dalam kurun waktu enam belas tahun (2008-2020) bagi para Profesional yang melakukan pekerjaan renovasi & perkuatan. Selanjutnya, akan mengidentifikasi inisiatif keberlanjutan yang akan menyebutkan fenomena dalam sepuluh tahun ke belakang pada renovasi & perkuatan bangunan saat ini untuk mencapai penilaian hijau. Skema fenomena baru merupakan temuan yang melibatkan banyak pemikiran dan pertimbangan praktis dari isu kelembagaan lokal dan sektor bangunan ke depan sebagai target Green Renovation & Retrofitting pada pra konstruksi bangunan saat ini. Abstract

Abstract: The process of architectural design involves the use of immersive virtual reality (IVR) technology to create spatial experiences that can be perceived by human senses in an immersive manner. Researchers in the field of architecture have investigated the use of virtual reality technology for a variety of purposes in the architectural design process, such as undergoing design review. However, most studies utilize only qualitative Boolean responses, such as excellent or bad. To address this, this study applies the affordance concept from ecological psychology research to the design review procedure by using VRDR and PDS method to find out the design improvement in a third-year architecture design studio. In the end, the result demonstrates a correlation with statistical results, indicating the architecture students' design enhancement after employing the design review method. Keyword: affordance-based design, virtual reality, design review, building information modelling, visual comparisonAbstrak: Proses desain arsitektur melibatkan penggunaan teknologi realitas virtual imersif (IVR) untuk menciptakan pengalaman spasial yang dapat dirasakan oleh indera manusia secara mendalam. Para peneliti di bidang arsitektur telah menyelidiki penggunaan teknologi realitas virtual untuk berbagai tujuan dalam proses desain arsitektur, seperti menjalani tinjauan desain. Namun, sebagian besar penelitian hanya menggunakan respon Boolean kualitatif, seperti sangat baik atau buruk. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, penelitian ini menerapkan konsep affordance dari penelitian psikologi ekologi pada prosedur peninjauan desain dengan menggunakan VRDR dan PDS method untuk mengetahui peningkatan desain pada studio perancangan arsitektur tahun ketiga. Pada akhirnya, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya korelasi dengan hasil statistik yang mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan desain mahasiswa arsitektur setelah menggunakan metode tinjauan desain.Kata Kunci: desain berbasis affordance, virtual reality, tinjauan desain, building information modelling, perbandingan visual

Abstract

Abstract: Forest destruction in Indonesia reaches 3,800,000 ha per year, most of which are illegal logging. Construction contributes to the use of wood as a construction material, inefficiency in the use of wood as construction waste, especially in high-quality wood species with a long harvest life. Indonesia's total sawn timber production reaches 1.4 million m3 per year of strong wood types. Utilization of this wood can result in environmental damage. Therefore, efforts to use construction materials that are more environmentally friendly have been encouraged to develop. Including short-lived wood (five-year harvest period) or used wood materials (reuse/recycle). In order to increase the efficiency of material utilization and reduce waste, namely by using a modular prefabrication method. This paper will identify green performance on the “Material Resources and Cycle (MRC)” criteria. The object of study used in this evaluation is the modular wooden building of the Bandung Nature School classroom. The method used is field observation and performance assessment based on MRC criteria from the green-rating tool at the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). The results showed that natural school buildings had a fairly good green performance in the MRC criteria. The results of this study are expected to become best practice in the use of sustainable low emission construction materials.Keywords: Wooden construction, Modular, Material, Prefabricated, Resource, RecycleAbstrak: Kerusakan hutan di Indonesia mencapai 3.800.000 ha per tahun yang sebagian besar adalah penebangan liar atau illegal logging. Konstruksi berkontribusi dalam penggunaan kayu sebagai salah satau material konstruksi, inefisiensi penggunaan material kayu sebagai limbah konstruksi khususnya pada jenis kayu kuliatas tinggi dengan umur panen yang lama. Produksi total kayu gergajian Indonesia mencapai 1.4 juta m3 per tahun pada tipe kayu kuat. Pemanfaatan kayu ini dapat berakibat pada kerusakan lingkungan. Oleh karena itu upaya pemanfaatan material kontruksi yang lebih ramah lingkungan mulai didorong pengembangannya. Termasuk kayu umur pendek (masa panen lima tahunan) atau material kayu bekas (reuse/ recycle). Dalam rangka peningkatan efisiensi pemanfaatan material dan pengurangan limbah yaitu dengan menggunakan metode prafabrikasi modular. Makalah ini akan mengidentifikasi kinerja hijau pada kriteria “Sumber dan Siklus Material” (Material Resources and Cycle- MRC). Obyek studi yang digunakan dalam evaluasi ini ini adalah bangunan kayu modular runag kelas Sekolah Alam Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengamatan lapangan dan penilaian kinerja berdasarkan kriteria MRC dari green-rating tool pada Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bangunan sekolah alam memiliki kinerja hijau dalam kriteria MRC yang cukup baik. Abstract

Abstract: Binjai City is a level II city area with the status of.a municipality within the province of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Binjai is located about 22 Km west of the provincial capital of North Sumatra. Binjai City is divided into 5 districts, namely Kota Binjai, North Binjai, South Binjai, West Binjai, East Binjai. Binjai is one of the cities that has a large rice field area. Binjai City is also one of the tourist cities that is currently very often visited by many people. This study aims to landscape development to analyze the development of potential landscapes in rice fields as a means of developing tourist attractions in binjai city. Based on the questioner research 73% respondent strongly agreed and 27% agreed to lanctioning rice fields as tourism object.The results of this activity are in the form of design designs for educational areas about planting rice fields, outbound, relaxing areas, playgrounds, and supporting facilities. The excavation of information from the villagers was also welcomed and added to the enthusiasm of the residents to make East Binjai a tourist village. The results of the Park Tourism design can help for development even though it is carried out in stages.Keyword: Agrotourism, Binjai City, LandscapeAbstrak: Kota Binjai merupakan kawasan kota tingkat II yang berstatus kotamadya di dalam provinsi Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. Binjai terletak sekitar 22 Km sebelah barat ibu kota provinsi Sumatera Utara. Kota Binjai terbagi menjadi 5 kabupaten yaitu Kota Binjai, Binjai Utara, Binjai Selatan, Binjai Barat, Binjai Timur. Binjai merupakan salah satu kota yang memiliki areal persawahan yang luas. Kota Binjai juga merupakan salah satu kota wisata yang saat ini sangat sering dikunjungi banyak orang. Penelitian ini bertujuan pengembangan lanskap untuk menganalisis pengembangan potensi lanskap di persawahan sebagai sarana pengembangan daya tarik wisata di kota binjai. Berdasarkan penelitian kuesioner 73% responden sangat setuju dan 27% setuju untuk menjadikan sawah lanctioning sebagai objek wisata.Hasil dari kegiatan ini berupa desain desain untuk area edukasi tentang penanaman sawah, outbond, area santai, taman bermain, dan fasilitas penunjang. Penggalian informasi dari warga juga disambut baik dan menambah semangat warga untuk menjadikan Binjai Timur sebagai desa wisata. Hasil rancangan Taman Wisata dapat membantu untuk pengembangan meskipun dilakukan secara bertahap.Kata Kunci : Agrowisata, Kota Binjai, Lanskap
