Abstract

Stroke is a condition with rapidly progressive clinical symptoms, manifested by symptoms of focal and generalized neurological deficits, lasting 24 hours or more and for no apparent reason other than damage to blood vessels, and can cause death. Objective: To determine the effect of shaker training and the Delsohn maneuver on swallowing ability in stroke patients. Method: The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest and posttest with control group design. The research sample consisted of 44 stroke patients who experienced mild to moderate swallowing disorders with RAPIDS scores of 50-100. The sampling technique is purposive sampling data collection using the RAPIDS test questionnaire sheet. Results: The average swallowing ability of respondents before being given shaker training and the Delsohn maneuver was 73.82, after being given the intervention the average swallowing ability increased to 91.55. Shows that there is an effect of shaker exercise and the Mendelsohn maneuver on swallowing ability with a p-value of 0.001<0.05. With the characteristics of respondents based on age in the intervention group being 60 years and 59 years in the control group, the education of respondents in the intervention group was mostly high school and the control group was mostly elementary school, and the gender of the intervention group was mostly female and the control group was mostly male, while the type of intervention The strokes of respondents and their groups were non-hemorrhagic strokes and the frequency of attacks for all respondents was first attacks. Conclusion: Shaker exercise and the Mendelsohn maneuver are effective for improving swallowing ability in stroke patients.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of Dioscorea alata ethanol extract (EEDA) on the histological features of the ampulla of the uterine tube in a mouse model of endometriosis. This was a true experimental study with a posttest-only control group design using 30 mice divided into six groups: a normal control group (K), a negative control group (KN) induced with endometriosis, a positive control group (KP) induced with endometriosis and treated with letrozole, and three treatment groups induced with endometriosis and administered EEDA at doses of 50, 250, and 500 mg/kg body weight. The observed parameters included inflammatory cell infiltration, epithelial damage, and fibrosis. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test for normality, which showed that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, the nonparametric Kruskal–Wallis test followed by the Mann–Whitney post hoc test was applied. The results showed that the KN group had the highest scores for inflammatory cell infiltration, epithelial damage, and fibrosis (p < 0.05). Administration of EEDA significantly reduced all three parameters compared with the KN group (p < 0.05), with histological improvement increasing in a dose-dependent manner and the most optimal dose observed at 500 mg/kg body weight. It can be concluded that Dioscorea alata ethanol extract may improve the histological features of the ampulla of the uterine tube through anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic mechanisms at an optimal dose of 500 mg/kg body weight; however, the specific molecular mechanisms still require further verification. These findings indicate the potential of Dioscorea alata ethanol extract as a candidate herbal-based alternative therapy in an experimental model of endometriosis.

Abstract

              Sedekah sampah merupakan alternatif pengelolaan sampah yang efektif dan ramah lingkungan. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengkaji tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat terhadap pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga dan pembentukan kelompok sedekah sampah. Ibu-Ibu Aisyiyah Ranting Betakan, Sumberrahayu, Moyudan, Sleman diberikan sosialisasi pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga, studi banding ke markas gerakan sedekah sampah di kampung Brajan, dilanjutkan pelatihan dan praktek pemilahan sampah rumah tangga. Sebelum kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan pretes dan setelah kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan postes. Kegiatan terakhir adalah pengumpulan sampah kering rumah tangga yang mengawali kegiatan kelompok sedekah sampah pada 5 Mei 2019. Hasil pretes menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap yang baik tentang pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga dengan skor rata-rata 79,95 dan ada peningkatan tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap pada saat postes dengan skor rata-rata 85,19. Kelompok sedekah sampah berjalan dengan baik dan keuangan kelompok sedekah sampah semakin meningkat sampai dengan Februari 2020.
