Abstract

Combinatoric ability allows the process of connecting several patterns and principles in formula discovery activities through generalizations to help students see the application of mathematics in real life. The model given can help in making broad rough estimates in developing their insights. The purpose of this study was to find out how combinatoric thinking skills are and whether combinatoric thinking skills contribute to mathematical statistics courses. This research belongs to the field of social sciences and can use this type of qualitative descriptive approach. The data were collected using a descriptive test which consisted of four items related to combinatoric problems. The data from the research results were processed using the SPSS program to get the contribution value of combinatoric thinking skills during the mid-test and final-test. with 23 students. The results of the analysis showed that the students' combinatoric thinking skills were quite good, where the mean and standard deviation were 71.27 and 6.09 during the middle exam and 72.00 and 5.88 at the time of the final exam. The problem that students have in combinatoric skills is the problem of mathematical modelling. The test results show that combinatoric thinking skills have a significant contribution to the mathematics-statistics course.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang memberikan gambaran tentang sub-sub materi listrik dinamis. Tujuan khusus penelitian ini adalah menganalisis materi dan tujuan pembelajaran tentang pembelajaran Fisika yang telah berlangsung di sekolah, meliputi persentase fakta, konsep, dan prinsip yang terdapat pada materi. Untuk tujuan pembelajaran dilihat dari persentase tingkatan Taksonomi Bloom. Materi yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini adalah materi Fisika SMA kelas X tentang Listrik Dinamis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis materi diperoleh persentase jumlah fakta, konsep, prinsip, dan prosedur masing-masing 28%, 30%, 36%, dan 6%. Dari hasil persentase analisis materi terlihat bahwa materi listrik dinamis didominasi oleh konsep dan prinsip. Agar siswa dapat memahami fakta dan prinsip-prinsip yang ada dalam pembelajaran Fisika dibutuhkan analisis materi yang ideal. Untuk tujuan pembelajaran materi listrik dinamis terlihat bahwa tujuan pembelajaran sudah mencapai tingkatan C5 tetapi belum mencapai tingkatan C6 sesuai dengan target tujuan pembelajaran Fisika nasional. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya perbaikan dalam penyusunan materi Fisika pada pokok bahasan Listrik dinamis.

Abstract

The use of teaching materials in schools should pay attention to their impact on students' understanding and critical thinking skills. Teaching materials are one of the media that have the potential to improve students' critical thinking skills. Therefore, teaching materials must meet the requirements of validation, effectiveness, and practicality. For this reason, this study aims to develop online learning-based teaching materials to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research is a development research by applying the Thiagarajan development model and limiting it to define, design, and development. The instruments used are validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and critical thinking skills tests. The trial was conducted on class XMia-1 and XMia-2 students of SMA Budi Insani Medan, each of which amounted to 32 students. The results show that to develop valid, effective, and practical online learning-based teaching materials, it takes hard work to make revisions/improvements as well as criticisms, suggestions, or comments from validators and students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of the student worksheets based on valid, practical and effective realistic mathematics learning models, and to determine the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills by using student worksheets based on realistic mathematics learning models. The type of research used is Research and Development research which refers to the 4-D model as stated by Thiagarajan (1974). However, in in its implementation, this research is limited to the define, design, and develop stages. The subjects in this study were students of class X IPS-1 SMA Setia Budi Abadi Perbaungan which consisted of 31 students. This research was conducted in the odd semester of 2021/2022 academic year. The research instrument used include the student worksheet assessment sheets to measure the validity, the critical thinking skills test, and student response questionnaires.Based on the results of the trials carried out, it was concluded that the developed student worksheets have fulfilled the validity criteria with an average score of 3.93%. The developed student worksheets have fulfilled the parcticality criteria in terms of the results of the validator’s assessment and student’s responses. The developed student worksheet have fulfiiled the criteria for the effectiveness in terms of. Completeness of learning, student responses, and the use of time in the learning process. The trial was carried out in two stages where there was an increase in the percentage of learning completeness from 35.48% to 93.54% with achievement indicators from 64.77% to 79.97%; student’s responses to learning are included in the effective category with an average of 88.17%; the use of time for the learning process in accordance with the available time allocation. Thus, the developed student worksheets fulfill the valid, practical and effective criteria.

Abstract

The government limits the social activities during the Covid-19 pandemic; as a result, the learning process was no longer carried out face-to-face. Therefore, an appropriate alternative was needed to facilitate the learning process. This study aimed to design a valid Lectora Inspire-based matrix learning materials for grade  XI high school students. This research was a part of development research utilizing 4D model by Thiagarajan. However, this study limited only on defining and designing stage. Defining and designing were conducted through a literature review followed by measuring the level of validation of Lectora Inspire-based learning materials. This research was conducted for three months, from July to October 2020. The instrument was the validation sheet given to 4 (four) material experts and 2 (two) media experts for Lectora Inspire-based learning materials. The results showed that the learning material developed based on Lectora Inspire had met the valid requirements. The results of observation from the validators towards the the materials and media showed a good score after the materials were revised as suggested by the validators. Lectora Inspire – based learning materials developed had many advantages compared to the learning materials created using other programming applications.

Abstract

Kemampuan seseorang dalam memaknai suatu konsep pengetahuan satu dengan yang lain berbeda-beda, tergantung pada kemampuannya dalam menalar. Dalam pembelajaran matematika, kemampuan penalaran merupakan salah satu kompetensi yang menjadi tujuan. Perbedaan penalaran seseorang dapat dilihat dari kemampuan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah non-rutin. Hasil observasi awal, terlihat bahwa siswa masih cenderung menyelesaikan masalah berdasarkan contoh solusi yang diberikan oleh guru, ketika diberikan masalah yang menuntut pengembangan ide, siswa mengalami kesulitan. Lemahnya siswa dalam mengembangkan ide dapat terjadi karena kurangnya pelatihan yang diberikan kepada siswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan penalaran terhadap materi yang dipelajari. Oleh karena itu tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat perbedaan kedua model pembelajaran ditinjau dari kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan memberikan perlakuan yang berbeda terhadap dua kelompok sampel penelitian. Data yang dikumpulkan terdiri atas dua data, yaitu data hasil pretes kemampuan penalaran yang kemudian dijadikan dasar penggolongan siswa berupa kemampuan awal matematika serta data hasil postes kemampuan penalaran yang akan digunakan untuk melihat perbedaan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Adapun analisis data yang dilakukan menggunakan ANAVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan tingkat kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa tetapi tidak terdapat interaksi antara kemampuan awal matematis siswa melalui model-model kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa.

Abstract

The learning process is a social interaction that is carried out by students and teaching staff in sharing information and knowledge. During the process, learning activities are more likely to be carried out online, either using social media, teleconferencing devices, or other applications that can be used to convey messages/information, record material, or face-to-face virtual. For this reason, the learning process does not only need to be supervised by teaching staff, but also the role of parents in the online learning process. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach that will provide an overview of the role of parents in the online learning process. The role of parents who become aspects of observation include: the facilities provided and the motivation provided. The sample in this study were all students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Islamic University of North Sumatra. The existing sample was chosen randomly with a total sample of 32 students. Analysis of the data used is using interpretation analysis based on the opinions and perceptions of students in terms of parental support for the online learning process. Based on the information collected from students regarding the role of parents, it is concluded that providing facilities to support the online learning process and providing motivation is a form of parental participation in the success of online learning.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has been going on since the end of 2019 brings its own paradigm to the learning system that takes place in schools and universities. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning independence students of Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a descriptive study that will provide an overview of student learning independence during online lectures in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The population in this study were all students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. Existing samples were selected randomly with a total sample of 60 students. Qualitatively, student learning independence is still in the low category, both in terms of managing study time (26.67%), the ability to complete routine tasks (18.33%), thinking skills (16.67%), the ability to take initiative (28 ,33%), as well as his confidence in learning (26.67%). Therefore, online learning that is implemented needs to be improved to increase student learning independence.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of mathematics modules based on Higher Order Thinking Skills to increase student learning independence at SMK YPK Medan. The mathematical logic module developed is feasible to use and has met the valid, practical and effective criteria. The method used in this study is a Research and Development method with define, design, develop, disseminate. The results of the research that have been carried out show that the module developed is valid. This is based on the results of four different validators in terms of material, language, and design with an average score of 4.0 and are in the valid category. Practicality is obtained from the results of student questionnaires with an average score of 58.47 and is in the practical category. The effectiveness is obtained from the results of increasing student learning independence on the first trial test of 68.3 and on the second trial test of 81.65 which is included in the effective improvement category.

Abstract

This study's objective was to determine the effects of the problem-based learning model on students enrolled in the mathematics education program at the Islamic University of North Sumatra while they studied to improve their critical thinking skills. This type of quasi-experimental study aims to determine how the participant's parameters are affected by the treatment. "One-group pretest-posttest design" is the name of the study's approach. The research was carried out there with the participation of 35 students from the Mathematics Study Program at the Islamic University of North Sumatra. In this study, data were collected through tests and observations. A tool for data analysis is the t-test. A computer application named SPSS version 25.0 is used to process statistical data. According to the results, using the PBL learning model has an impact on students' mathematical critical thinking skills at the Islamic University of North Sumatra's Mathematics Education Study Program. The t-test significance value of 0.0001, which is less than 0.05, supports this.
