Abstract

Introduction: Tooth discolouration is the most common esthetic problems in dentistry. Direct composite veneer is an adjunctive therapy for severe teeth discolouration by attaching to the tooth surface using an acid etching and dental bonding agent. In several cases of severe discolouration, it is required to have certain preliminary treatments such as bleaching prior to the placement of the composite veneer. However, bleaching agents are able to lead the enamels morphology and microstructure alteration by inhibiting the polymerisation bonding thus affecting the veneer adhesion. This study was aimed to determine the tensile bond strength of direct composite veneers between the V and VII generation dentin bonding agent after extracoronal bleaching. Methods: This study was an experimental laboratory of as much as 32 human permanent maxillary central incisors were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 was treated with extracoronal bleaching and bonded with the V generation bonding nanohybrid composite. Group 2 was treated with extracoronal bleaching and bonded with the VIII generation bonding nanohybrid composite. Group 3 was only bonded with the V generation bonding nanohybrid composite. Group 4 was only bonded with the VIII generation bonding nanohybrid composite. All samples were immersed in artificial saliva then incubated at the room temperature for 24 hours. Results: The tensile strength value was determined using the Universal Testing Machine. The ANOVA test results showed significant differences in all four groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The VIII generation bonding agent had a higher tensile strength than the V generation.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Resin komposit nanohibrida merupakan bahan restorasi gigi yang dikembangkan untuk memperoleh sifat fisik dan mekanik yang lebih baik. Polimerisasi material tersebut akan menyisakan sejumlah monomer yang tidak bereaksi. Peningkatan jumlah monomer yang tidak bereaksi dapat menurunkan kekuatan mekanik bahan restorasi gigi. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui pengaruh preheating dan heat treatment terhadap kekuatan kompresi resin komposit nanohibrida. Metode : Eksperimental murni dengan rancangan penelitian post test only control group design. Empat puluh delapan sampel resin komposit berbentuk silinder dengan diameter 5 mm dan tebal 2 mm dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok yaitu, kelompok preheating 37ºC, 60ºC, kelompok heat treatment 120ºC, 170ºC, kelompok kontrol negatif dan kontrol positif. Seluruh kelompok dilakukan uji kekuatan kompresi menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Hasil : uji one way ANOVA menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dengan nilai p>0,05 (0,000) pada sebagian besar kelompok hasil. Kesimpulan : penelitian ini adalah kelompok heat treatment dengan suhu 170ºC memiliki nilai kekuatan kompresi tertinggi, sedangkan nilai yang paling rendah adalah kelompok kontrol negatif.

Abstract

Intercellular adhesion plays a role in cancer formation and protein has a key potential in maintaining cell adhesion, including syndecan-1. Meanwhile, oral cancer originates from the oral epithelium, which has an invasive and metastatic level. Its treatments involving chemotherapy and radiotherapy commonly leave unfavorable side effects, hence, suitable alternatives are needed. Natural ingredients are widely used as an alternative treatment for cancer, for example, Ganoderma lucidum (G. lucidum) which has anti-cancer and anti-angiogenic properties, induces apoptosis, stimulates an immune response, inhibits the degradation of Extracellular matrix (ECM), reduces inflammation, affects cell cycles, cytotoxic, and acts as an antioxidant.This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract from Ganoderma lucidum Cianjur isolate on syndecan-1 expression in KB CCL-17 oral cell cancer. This was an experimental study with a post-test only control group design, the treatment group used G. lucidum ethanol extract with a concentration of 2.12 μg/ml (P1), 4.24 μg/ml (P2), and 8.49 μg/ml (P3), while the positive control group used cisplatin with a concentration of 11.5 μg/ml (K1). In contrast, the negative control used aquadest (K0), while syndecan-1 expression was observed using the immunohistochemical examination.The highest syndecan-1 expansion rate was found in the treatment group with a concentration of 8.49 μg/ml. A significant difference was indicated by one-way ANOVA (p<0.05) between K0 - K1, K0 - P1, K0 - P2, K0 - P3, K1 - P1, K1 - P2, K1 - P3, P1 - P2, as well as P1 and P3. The administration of ethanol extract from G. lucidum Cianjur isolate increases syndecan-1 expression in KB CCL-17 oral cell cancer.

Abstract

Nanohybrid composite resin is a dental restorative material comprising micro and nano-sized fillers. When accompanied by smoking habits, it can alter the surface roughness of composite resin. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of several electric cigarette (e-cigarette) puffs on the surface roughness of nanohybrid composite resin. Methods: This study was conducted in the experimental laboratory with a pretest-posttest control group design using 48 nanohybrid composite resin specimens divided into six groups. Subsequently, the experimental groups were exposed to 75, 150, 225, 300, and 450 puffs of e-cigarette, and the control group was given artificial saliva immersion without exposure for 21 days. The surface roughness of specimens was measured with a surface roughness tester and evaluated through statistical analysis, including One-Way ANOVA and Post-Hoc LSD. Results: The average pre-test and post-test differences between groups I, II, III, IV, V, and VI were 0.013, 0.022, 0.033, 0.044, 0.065, and 0.005 μm. These results showed a significant difference in the surface roughness of nanohybrid composite resin (p < 0.05), with variations between all groups. Conclusion: This study showed that the number of e-cigarette puffs had a significant effect on the surface roughness of nanohybrid composite resin. Specifically, an increase in the number of e-cigarette puffs led to a rise in the surface roughness value of nanohybrid composite resin.

Abstract

Sumber daya manusia merupakan aset penting bagi perusahaan dalam rangka peningkatan produk yang dihasilkan, salah satunya adalah sumber daya pekerja. Pekerja dengan beban kerja yang berat akan mengakibatkan terjadinya kelelahan yang pada akhirnya dapat menurunkan kualitas produk yang dihasilkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan model kuantitatif manajemen kelelahan dan beban kerja untuk meningkatkan produktivitas. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei eksplanatori dengan pendekatan cross sectional dengan sampel sebanyak 45 pekerja penggilingan padi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa variabel kelelahan kerja maupun beban kerja mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan produktivitas kerja. Model persamaan regresi yang terbentuk adalah produktivitas kerja = -4,188 + 0,027 kelelahan kerja – 0,100 beban kerja yang berarti bahwa setiap kenaikan 1 mili/detik kelelahan kerja akan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja sebesar 1 ton/hari dan setiap penurunan 1 kali/menit beban kerja maka akan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja sebesar 1 ton/hari. Human resources is an important asset for the company in order to improve the product, one is the labor resource. Workers with heavy workload will result in fatigue, which in turn can degrade the quality of products produced. This study aimed to develop a quantitative model of fatigue and workload management to improve productivity. The research method used eksplanatory survey with crossectional approach, using 45 sample. The results showed work fatigue and workload had a significant relationship with labor productivity. Regression equation model that is formed is productivity = -4.188 + 0.027 work fatigue – 0.100 workload which means that every increase of 1 millimeter/second job fatigue, it will increase labor productivity by 1 ton/day, and every reduce of 1 times/minute the workload it will increase labor productivity by 1 ton/day.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) konvensional merupakan bahan restorasi gigi yang bersifat antikariogenik dan dapat melepaskan flouride. Merokok dapat mempengaruhi sifat fisik GIC. Kekasaran permukaan merupakan salah satu sifat fisik bahan restorasi yang dapat memengaruhi keberhasilan restorasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kekasaran permukaan GIC setelah hisapan asap rokok kretek non filter. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium secara eksperimental dengan desain pretest - posttest control group design sejumlah 32 spesimen GIC dibagi menjadi empat kelompok, yaitu kelompok perlakuan diberikan paparan 75, 150, dan 250 hisapan rokok kretek non filter, dan kelompok kontrol diberikan perendaman air liur buatan tanpa paparan asap rokok kretek non filter. Seluruh perlakuan dilakukan selama 21 hari. Kekasaran permukaan diukur dengan alat surface roughness tester dan dievaluasi melalui analisis statistik, One-Way ANOVA dan Post-Hoc LSD. Hasil : Rerata selisih pretest - posttest kelompok I, II, III, dan kontrol sebesar 0,056, 0,094, 0,167, dan 0,008 μm. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan adanya perbedaan kekasaran permukaan GIC yang signifikan (p <0,05), dengan variasi antara semua kelompok. Simpulan: Peningkatan jumlah hisapan rokok kretek non-filter dapat meningkatkan kekasaran permukaan GIC konvensional.
