Abstract

Physical education is crucial for the whole growth of students, thereby addressing cognitive, motor, social, and emotional dimensions. However, studies conducted on fourth grade children at Suci State Elementary School revealed that certain pupils exhibited suboptimal gross motor abilities, which can be attributed to less engaging instructional approaches. This study suggests implementing a conventional game-based sports program prior to learning activities as a means to enhance students' gross motor skills. There is an expectation that this method will enhance students' motivation and engagement in an enjoyable learning experience, therefore facilitating the optimal development of their motor skills. Objectives. Evaluate the impact of pre-learning sports programs on enhancing pupils' gross motor abilities. Materials and Methods. The employed methodology is the Experiment with Preexperimental Design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design type. The study sample consisted of 14 individuals selected using the purposive sampling technique. Using Locomotor Basic Movements, the study instrument assesses 12 competencies, which include: During the initial 6 skills, I prompt the child to transition between different locations using various methods. Furthermore, throughout the final 6 talents, the youngster will demonstrate their proficiency in ball control through several means. The acquired data underwent systematic analysis in multiple phases, encompassing normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. Results. Based on the data analysis conducted using the t-Test: Paired two samples for means, it is evident that the obtained significance is 0.000. Since the significance is less than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis (H1). Therefore, it can be concluded that implementing a sports program before learning activities can enhance students' gross motor skills. Conclusions. Implementing fitness initiatives prior to educational activities might enhance pupils' gross motor skills.

Abstract

Objectives. This study aimed to determine the effect of circuit training exercises on the endurance of handball athletes. An experimental method with a pre-experimental design was employed, specifically using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research sample comprised 10 handball athletes from the UKM Handball University of Garut, selected due to their low levels of physical endurance. These participants engaged in a circuit training program tailored to enhance their endurance over a designated period. Materials and Methods. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. A sample of 10 handball athletes with low physical endurance was selected. Participants underwent a circuit training program over a set period. Endurance was assessed using the Bleep test for cardiovascular endurance and the push-up test for upper body muscular endurance. Data were collected before and after the intervention to evaluate changes in performance. Results. The results indicated a significant improvement in both endurance measures after the circuit training intervention. The athletes showed a 32.30% increase in their Bleep Test scores and a 34.53% improvement in the number of push-ups performed. Conclusions. The results indicate that circuit training exercises significantly improve the endurance of handball athletes. With a notable increase in both cardiovascular and muscular endurance, as evidenced by the Bleep test and push-up test results, circuit training proves to be an effective method for enhancing athletic performance. These findings suggest that incorporating circuit training into regular training routines can benefit athletes seeking to improve their endurance.

Abstract

The general aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of implementing the discovery learning model in improving creativity skills in badminton learning material in class XI SMA Negeri 14 Garut. This research used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method with a sample of 29 class XI IPS 1 students. The instrument used was a movement creativity questionnaire. Analysis of test data shows that the use of the discovery learning model significantly increases student creativity. The results of this research are based on data from pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II, which includes aspects of fluency, flexibility, authenticity, detail and sensitivity. The average score in the pre-cycle was 69.4, increased to 78.379 in cycle I, and reached 89.3092 in cycle II. The results per component showed significant improvements: fluency from 74.4 (pre-cycle) to 88.85 (cycle II), fluidity from 72.1 to 89.428, originality from 68.9 to 88.85, granularity from 70.8 to 89.231, and sensitivity from 60.9 to 90.192. This increase shows that discovery learning is effective in improving students' creativity skills in badminton material. This research concludes that the implementation of discovery learning can be an effective strategy for increasing student creativity in physical education learning.
