Abstract

Among various issues on regional development planning in Indonesia, the vast coverage area and its regional diversity become one of main challenges. Regionalization is one of spatial techniques that can be used to facilitate regional development planning process. This study aims to analyze regionalization of Indonesia with a focus on Java Island by highlighting the main contemporary issues including poverty, COVID-19 pandemic, and gender. This paper draws the conditions of poverty, the cases of the COVID-19 pandemic and the needs of gender-based development in 119 regencies/cities on the island of Java using spatial distribution analysis. The results of the analysis show that the distribution of the percentage of the poor and the poverty line in Java forms a clustered pattern. This also happened in the case of COVID-19 where the high concentration of cases was around DKI Jakarta and DI Yogyakarta. As for the gender aspect, there is a tendency for a scattered pattern for the value of the gender development index, although there are some areas with high values (H-H quadrant) and low values (L-L quadrant). In general, the use of regional analysis may facilitate the identification of spatial phenomena, their distribution and the patterns formed, therefore it can be used for determining suitable regional policies. Keywords: Java Island, Regionalization, Poverty, COVID-19 Pandemic, Gender

Abstract

Land capacity includes the physical components that influence the potential for disasters in an area. Land capacity classification can provide a systematic assessment of land through categories of characteristics that are potential as well as obstacles to its sustainable use. One example of inhibiting factor is disaster, so the aim of this research is to find out areas that are vulnerable and the level of regional capacity in dealing with natural disasters. The existence of a land capability classification can provide a systematic assessment of land so that it can categorise it as potential or obstacle to land use. This research method is scoring and weighting which is based on Public Planning and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministerial Decree No. 20 of 2007 combined with practical teaching materials for land use planning, Faculty Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada. There are 4 data inputs, natural disaster maps, slope, rain intensity, and soil sensitivity to erosion. Each input has a variable range that varies on a scale at levels 1-5 with weight range of 0-100. The research location is in Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java. The results obtained are the level of regional capacity for natural disasters in each sub-district, including very low, low, medium, high and very high land capacity with different intensities in each region. Erosion and landslides and landslides are the ratio of disasters with a relatively large area compared to erosion disasters. Apart from that, areas that do not fall into either category are included in the category of areas that are safe from disasters.

Abstract

Village Development Index (IDM) classifies the level of village development into distinct categories, such as Independent Village, Advanced Village, Developing Village, Underdeveloped Village, and Very Underdeveloped Village. Each village is guided to improve its social, economic, and ecological quality. A sound ecological quality also supports resilience and sustainability in its socio-economic conditions. Pendoworejo Village in Girimulyo Subdistrict and Pagerharjo Village in Samigaluh Subdistrict were classified as underdeveloped villages in 2016. However, by 2023, according to the Village Development Index (IDM), both villages had achieved the status of independent villages. the development of the tourism sector has become a key driver for diversifying rural community members' incomes, thereby boosting regional economic development. Sustainable management of the natural environment, based on its ecosystem, is an integral component of Nature-Based Solutions.

Abstract

Regional development planning in Indonesia is conducted at all levels, including national, provincial, district/city, sub-district, and village. One form of village development planning is the Village or Kalurahan Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMDes/RPJMKal). The preparation of the plan must involve all elements of society, including youth. This study aims to 1) identify the role of youth in the preparation process of the Wedomartani Village Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMKal) for 2021-2026; 2) analyze the level of participation; and 3) identify youth representatives' perceptions of factors influencing youth roles. The research was conducted using a mixed method approach with descriptive analysis. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling method. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The results showed that the role of youth is as a dynamizer, catalyst, motivator, innovator, and evaluator. Youth participation in the RPJMKal preparation process has reached the highest level or community power in the form of partnership. Based on the perception of youth representatives, the internal factor that influences the role of youth in the process of preparing the Wedomartani RPJMKal 2021-2026 is the age of youth. External factors that influence the role of youth include the village government, and community leaders.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The relationship between women and forests is manifested through women's involvement in maintaining forest ecosystems. The involvement of women in forest management is one of the strategic issues in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. This study aims to analyze forest management activities and assess the impact of forest management activities on women. This study used a qualitative descriptive analysis with the framework of Harvard model gender analysis. This study took place in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and used 2 locations as case studies, namely Beji Village (Gunungkidul Regency) and Hargowilis Village (Kulon Progo Regency). In Gunungkidul Regency, forest management is directed towards conservation activities, while in Kulonprogo Regency it is forest utilization for agricultural activities. The impacts felt by the women (and men) of the Ngudi Lestari Ranger Group are more on ecological and social benefits. Meanwhile, the Mengger Rejo Forest Farmer Group also receives economic benefits that are equally felt by both genders. This study shows that forests in different locations with different geographic and socio-demographic characteristics will result in different management systems. However, both locations of this study show that women have an important role in forest management.
