Abstract

Abstract .Diamond mining in Cempaka Subdistrict existed for a long time ago and was handled by community groups and included as small-scale artisanal mining. Abstract

Variability of soil types in the Quaternary geological formations on the islands presents different soil morphological characteristics. The process of geomorphogenesis and geology determines the characteristics of soil morphology. This study aims to determine the characteristics of soil morphology, pedogenesis process, soil development based on landforms in Quaternary geological formations in North Maluku Islands region. Six soil profiles were observed, which were determined based on geographical location. Descriptive research methods based on USDA standards were used as the basis for determining soil morphological characteristics. The results showed that the pedogenesis process on Quaternary volcanic landforms were caused by a period of volcanic eruptions characterized by thick soils (>100 cm), fairly steep slopes (15 - 25%), no rock outcrops, and an eluviation-illuviation process on the soil profile. While the pedogenesis process on alluvial landforms tends to produce in-situ rock weathering characterized by slow horizon formation and produces a relatively shallow soil solum (<100 cm). The data obtained provide information on soil resources and the research results can also be used as a formulation in conservation efforts on the islands.

Abstract

Along with massive technological developments, the need for work support automatically becomes unavoidable. Artificial intelligence (AI) is here to answer this need, including in the world of education. In schools, teachers are faced with the problem of improving the quality of adaptive and inclusive learning. Of course, this quality improvement must be supported by learning devices and media that are interesting and appropriate to students' needs. However, making conventional learning tools will be very energy and time consuming, not to mention the limited resources available. Referring to this condition, this PKM activity was carried out with the aim of making learning tools more efficient through the use of AI. This is of course in line with the spirit of the vision of an independent curriculum, namely realizing education that is relevant and supported by technology. The target audience for this activity is high school geography teachers throughout Ternate City who are members of the Geography MGMP. This activity is held at SMAN 5 Ternate City. The use of a variety of AI-based Google service products will be introduced in this activity through a tutorial/practice method directly with the teacher. The stages in this PKM activity include preparation, implementation, evaluation, data analysis and reporting. The focus in this service activity is innovation and technology transfer to teachers in developing learning tools according to the demands of 21st century learning.

Abstract

Tourism development in small island areas requires an integrated approach that balances economic benefits with environmental protection to ensure ecological sustainability. Conservation-based tourism has become a strategic framework to minimize environmental degradation while supporting local livelihoods. Pulo Tareba, located in Ternate City, possesses significant ecological attributes, including a lake ecosystem, unique coastal landscapes, and biodiversity characterized by several endemic fauna species. However, pressure from poorly managed tourism activities that have not followed conservation principles has led to a decline in the population of endemic fauna such as the maleo bird, white cockatoo, Ternate lory, and blue-eyed cuscus. These four species play a vital role in the island's ecosystem balance. This study aims to analyze the potential of Pulo Tareba as a conservation-based tourism destination, with a focus on mitigation efforts to address the decline of endemic fauna populations. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that establishing protected status for Pulo Tareba and strengthening community participation in tourism management are essential to curb the rate of endemic species population decline and to achieve sustainable conservation-based tourism development in Pulo Tareba.

Abstract

The implementation of the smart city concept involves the creation of a city that is digitally integrated. As a result, cities designated as smart cities undergo transformation, facing various challenges and efforts, particularly in environmental management. Ternate is one such city that is transforming its environmental management practices to develop a smart city focused on a smart environment. This research was conducted qualitatively, gathering data through focus group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews with community members and relevant government agencies involved in implementing smart environmental initiatives. The findings indicate that the primary environmental challenge facing Ternate is waste management. Issues include low public awareness regarding proper waste disposal, a limited number of waste collection vehicles, and inadequate waste management and processing facilities. To address these challenges, it is essential to implement initiatives such as community outreach regarding waste banks, increasing the number of waste collection vehicles, and exploring collaborative opportunities with other parties to enhance waste management and processing in Ternate.
