Abstract

Proper diet and fluid restriction are very important things to note, because intake Excessive fluids can worsen the condition of patients with kidney disease. Although patients already understand that failure to limit fluids can be fatal, about 50% of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) do not adhere to the recommended dietary and fluid restriction diet. Management of chronic kidney disease with diet and fluid restriction can be done by nurses by providing coaching support. The method of implementing community service which is carried out through the provision of coaching support is by providing health education gradually and continuously by paying attention to the problems experienced by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) sufferers so that awareness of the disease is achieved and the end result is an improvement in the behavior of the sufferer. Participants in this activity are all CKD patients who carry out routine checks at the Internal Medicine Poly Hospital of Adi Husada Surabaya from April 2021 to June 2021. Meetings with participants are followed up at the participants' homes for intervention. The behavior of the fiber was observed before and after the intervention. The results obtained before the intervention was given, most of the participants had poor behavior as many as 11 people (55%) and after being given coaching support most of the 12 people (60%) had good behavior in diet and fluid restrictions. Based on these data, it can be seen by using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test, the behavioral value p value = 0.001 so there is an effect of providing coaching support on the behavior of diet regulation and fluid restriction. Providing coaching support can be one of the therapies for CKD sufferers in maintaining stable kidney function so that the patient's quality of life becomes better

Abstract

During the pandemic diabetes itself becomes the most dangerous comorbid because diabetes increases the risk of more severe complications when infected with the Corona virus. With restrictions on activities outside the home during the pandemic, inevitably many people have to do all activities at home, but precisely because of this, many people are neglectful of lifestyle management which ends up running a sententary life. Thus, people with diabetes mellitus do not carry out one of the pillars to stabilize blood sugar levels, namely physical activity. In addition, many diabetics do not know that controlling blood sugar levels can be done non-pharmacologically, one example is relaxation techniques. Most people with Diabetes Mellitus never apply this management because they are considered to have no function. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation on blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The design of this study was quasi-experimental with the type of pretest and posttest intervention. The research population was 36 people and the sample was taken using simple random sampling, each with 18 people. The research instrument used an observation sheet and a glucometer to measure blood sugar levels. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon sign rank test with the result <0.05. The results showed that the results of blood sugar levels before and after Progressive OOT relaxation in the treatment group had a P value = .016, P value <0.05, the hypothesis was accepted that progressive muscle relaxation was effective in reducing blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. 2. Future studies are expected to compare other complementary therapies to stabilize blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Introduction & Aim: An unhealthy lifestyle and inactivity are the main causes of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), which disrupts the body's ability to metabolize glucose into energy. This community service project aims to assess type 2 diabetes patients' blood glucose levels and level of knowledge regarding Progressive Muscle Relaxation and the Five Pillars of education. Method of Activity: A 5-Pillars teaching program and progressive muscle relaxation were given to 25 type 2 diabetes patients who had previously visited the Bulak Community Health Center. This six-week community service project involved multiple stages of action, including an initial survey, education, application, assistance, and assessment, and it was conducted at Jalan Bulak Setro RT 02 RW 04 Bulak Surabaya. Community conduct is assessed based on knowledge and blood sugar levels. To assess the efficacy of the service, data were examined statistically using the Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results: The community behavior that this service can alter is demonstrated by the 100% increase in knowledge (p = 0.000) and the normal blood glucose levels of 64% of respondents (p = 0.004). Disscusion: For individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus, progressive muscle relaxation education and the 5-pillars of diabetes mellitus therapy yield the best outcomes in terms of preventing complications like diabetic neuropathy. An extensive strategy to raise sufferers' awareness is to offer information and support so that individuals with DMT2 can adopt a healthier lifestyle in the hopes that their blood glucose levels will return to normal.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the deadliest diseases in the world that can attack anyone, both young and old. Hypertension sufferers have poorer sleep quality compared to those with normal blood pressure. This research is a quantitative research using a Quasi-Experimental Design. This research aimed to determine the effect of a combination of warm water foot baths and lavender essential oil aromatherapy on sleep quality in adults with hypertension. Wilcoxon test results (p = 0.004), which means that there is an effect of combination therapy with warm water foot baths and lavender essential oil aromatherapy on the sleep quality of adults with hypertension. The feet have many thermoreceptors and a high density of capillaries. Soaking your feet in warm water can help prepare the body for sleep naturally and quickly trigger peripheral vasodilation. There are two main ways to apply aromatherapy: topically and through inhalation. Lavender essential oil is said to activate the limbic system, especially the hippocampus and amygdala. Combining warm foot baths with aromatherapy would be a rational approach to the management of sleep disorders in adult patients with hypertension.
