Abstract

Abstract

Sempan Village is one of the villages in Pemali District of Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands which do not yet have the featured products, while this village has nipah plants that are not used optimally. The nipah fruit can be further processed into a featured product of village i.e. syrup. The service program Chemistry Department is training Sempan Village society on the manufacture of syrup from nipah fruit. The method of this activity includes three stages i.e. preparation, implementation and evaluation. After this activity is carried out, the Sempan Village society have increased understanding, knowledge and motivation in utilizing nipah fruit into processed syrup products and this product is expected become one of the featured products of Sempan VillageKeywords: nipah fruit, syrup, Sempan Village

Abstract

Tailings in this study are the result of Jigs washing in the mining process. This 'mining waste' interesting to study because there is no information that explains the relationship between mineral content and geochemistry so that it has not been widely used. The method used to determine the mineral and geochemical characteristics of tailings is X-ray spectroscopy using XRD and XRF. The mineral found in the tin mine tailings on northern Bangka Island (Pemali, Jebus, Tempilang, and Mapur) is quartz and kaolinite. The trace element shows main Rare Earth Elements (REE) Ce, La, Nd, Sm, Ta, and Y with various concentrations. Radioactive elements are found: Uranium and Yttrium. They are thought to originate from type I granite rocks with acid-to-moderate magma-forming compositions. The affinity of magma forming granite tailings studied was High K Calc Alkaline and Calc-Alkaline. This explains the presence of REE and the radioactive elements in tailings even though they are not present in carrier minerals such as monazite and xenotime.

Abstract

Bangka Belitung is one of the tin-producing areas in the world which is characterized by the large number of granite rocks in the area as the rock carrying cassiterite minerals. Granite rocks found on Bangka Island are rocks formed due to magma activity from acidic volcanic processes. The availability of acidic water is possible due to the presence of acid-carrying minerals from granite which causes acid rock drainage or acid rock water which generally occurs in mining areas, ex-mining and exploration in tin mines. Before making efforts to prevent environmental pollution, identification is needed regarding the potential acidity of the rock so that the pH and dissolved metal content that endangers survival can be prevented to a minimum.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the total phenolic and antioxidant capacity of Tristaniopsis merguensis leaf acetone extract. In this study extraction using the maceration method for 3 days with a ratio of dry leaves and solvents of 1: 10 (w / v). Analysis of total polyphenols in this study was carried out using the Follin-Ciocalteu method. Total polyphenols were measured based on gallic acid standards. The antioxidant capacity is calculated based on the DPPH method. The results of this study, obtained extract yield of 9.34%. The total phenolic content of the Tristaniopsis merguensis leaf acetone extract was 215.22 mg GAE / g DW. While the antioxidant capacity of the acetone extract has an IC50 value of 22,1454 µg / mL.

Abstract

The use of local plants in the Bangka Belitung islands, such as shoots of idat (Cratoxylum glaucum), pelawan (Tristaniopsis spp) and shoots of iding-iding (Stenochlaena palustris) has been practiced by local people for a long time as medicinal plants and vegetables. The three plants are natural ingredients that have been studied and contain very high antioxidant and antibacterial compounds. Iding-iding shoots (Stenochlaena palustris) have antimicrobial uses but their use as antiseptics has not been carried out. Iding-iding shoots have been studied to contain many flavonoids, polyphenols, hydroxycinnamic acid and anthrocyanins. In this study, the formulation of hand sanitizer gel preparations from iding-iding leaf extract (Stenochlaena palustris) as a natural antiseptic with varying concentrations in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus will be carried out in this study. So far, there has been no research using iding-iding leaf extract (Stenochlaena palustris) in hand sanitizer gel preparations. The results showed that the leaf extract of iding-iding shoots had excellent bacterial inhibition at a concentration of 5% on E.Coli and S.Aureus bacteria.
