Abstract

Wastewater from the outlet of hospital's Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is expected to be used for watering plants as an effort to water use efficiently. To answer this assumption, this research was carried out to examine the effects of hospital wastewater as a plant growth medium on the accumulation of pollutants in papaya (Carica papaya) leaves and fruit. Local papaya seeds were grown on the land around the hospital's WWTP and the plants were watered every day with wastewater. Plants were well cared for without adding other additives as fertilizer and their growth was observed. After 8 months of treatment, the fruits and leaves of plants were harvested and destructed using HNO3 and H2SO4 to measure the heavy metal content using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Shimadzu A630. Results showed that when wastewater was used as a growth medium, metals Hg, Cd, and Pb were found to accumulate in papaya fruit with a concentration of 0.179; 0.582; and 2,327 mg/kg, while other metals such as Cr and As were not found to accumulate in papaya fruit. Metal accumulation was also found in papaya leaves with Hg content of 0.739 mg/kg and Cd of 0.582 mg/kg, while others metals Cr, Pb, and As were not found in the papaya leaves. These results indicate that the main source of heavy metal accumulation in papaya plants came from wastewater from the WWTP outlet containing heavy metals.

Abstract

This research deals with the adsorption of mercury ions [Hg (II)] using a combination of natural biomass between oil palm bunches and rice husks (PB-RH). After drying at 40oC, PB-RH biomass was carbonized by using a tube furnace for 2 hours at 500 °C and followed chemical activation with citric acid. Activated carbon formed was contacted with an aqueous solution containing Hg (II) ion and stirred at a constant rate of 150 rpm. The concentration of Hg (II) ions in the aqueous phase were analyzed with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and the Central Composite Design (CCD) method with Design-Expert software version 6.0.8 was conducted to calculate the optimization of adsorption capacity for mercury ion. The Hg ion adsorption capacity was estimated to observe the performance of the PB-RH biomass combination on the adsorption of Hg (II) ions with some variables, such as contact time, biomass weight, and activator concentration. Results showed that all variable response, contact time, biomass weight, and activator concentration influenced the mercury (II) ion adsorption capacity. The optimum condition of Hg (II) ion adsorption occurred at 30 g of activated PB-RH biomass with 0.6 mole/L concentration of activator during 99.88 minutes with 99.42 mg/L initial concentration of Hg (II). The adsorption capacity occurred at 10.1 mg/g as the optimum condition for the adsorption of Hg (II) ions by PB-RH.

Abstract

Patchouli oil refinery in Gayo Lues Aceh Indonesia commonly used evaporation process in an old drums at high temperature which decreased the quality of oil produced. The research to enhance the quality of patchouli alcohol of Gayo Lues patchouli oil using Citrus hystrix absorber has been done.The juice from kaffir lime (1 – 10 % v/v) used as chelating agent, and the kaffir peels powder (2,5 - 7 gr) used as bio sorbent. The highest patchouli alcohol (P.A) both resulted at T=50 oC and 60 minutes heating. Kaffir bio sorbent at 7,5 gr usage, gave 40,37% P.A and Fe reduction of 77,67%; while kaffir lime juice at 4% v/v usage, gave P.A 39,90% and Fe reduction of 78,25%. Purified patchouli oil also characterized by its light yellow color, density and refractive index based on SNI.06-2385-2006. It’s concluded that kaffir peels bio sorbent purification has superior P.A quality than kaffir lime juice.

Abstract

Latar belakang permasalahan yang dihadapi pada fakultas teknik Universitas Serambi Mekkah yaitu pengajuan judul dilakukan dengan cara manual yaitu menemui ka prodi untuk mendapatkan persetujuan dan pembimbing kemudian menjumpai dekan untuk mendapatkan persetujuan judul dan pembimbing tersebut. Tujuan pembuatan sistem informasi pengusulan pembimbing ini agar mempermudah mahasiswa mengajukan judul serta ka prodi dalam memverifikasi kepada mahasiswa. Sistem informasi pengusulan pembimbing kerja praktek dan tugas akhir ini dapat diakses oleh mahasiswa melalui smartphone android atau komputer yang terhubung dengan jaringan internet. Mahasiswa mengajukan judul dengan mengisi form pengajuan judul kerja praktek dan tugas akhir. Selanjutnya kaprodi menverifikasi judul dan menentukan dosen pembimbing, kemudian dekan akan memeriksa dan menyetujui dosen pembimbing serta judul mahasiswa tersebut. Sistem yang dihasilkan adalah sistem informasi pengusulan pembimbing kerja praktek dan skripsi secara online pada fakultas teknik universitas serambi mekkah. Aplikasi dibangun dengan menggunakan bahasa pemograman PHP dan database MySQL.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of water contained in the Krueng Baru River area, South Aceh Regency, and to determine the effect of iron metal (Fe) pollution on the structure of snail shells found in the Krueng Baru River area, South Aceh Regency. This research was conducted on February 20/March 2021. Research sampling in the Krueng Baru River, South Aceh Regency. Ferrous heavy metals (Fe) were analyzed at the Chemistry Laboratory and Biological Laboratory of Syiah Kuala University. The research site contained research samples of suction snails (Cerithidea obtusa). The sampling technique uses a purposive sampling technique. The data processing method used in the research is the descriptive method. Based on the results of research that have been done, Fe heavy metal levels in water and biological indicators of Cerithidea obtusa at station I 1,264 ppm, station III 2,323 ppm, and most obtained at station II with an average amount of Fe levels reaching 2,592 ppm. Based on the results of the analysis, in terms of the biological indicators of the sucker Cerithidea obtusa, it shows that there are differences in water quality at Station I, Station II and Station III. Conclusions based on the results of research on water quality in the Krueng Baru River show the content of heavy metal compounds (Fe) in the river, which means the area is polluted with Fe.

Abstract

Ammonia biosorption by using Enceng Gondok, Eichhornia crassipes, was conducted in outdoor laboratory with objective to study the influence residence time and plant age to ammonia biosorption rate. The research uses reactor test consisting of wet land and sludge. Enceng Gondok is planted on reactor test flown by ammonia as bacth with relatif low enough concentration (2 mg/L), water height 20 cm, plants number in each reactor of 4 stems with variatious plants length 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm, and various residence time 2, 4, 6, and 8 days. Each test conducted was completed by controlling reactor. Research result showed that maximun biosorption occurs at 2 days culturization; ammonia biosorption rate by roots increases as residence time increases. Residence time 2, 4, 6 and 8 days can decrease ammonia concentration up to 1.568 mg/l, 0.245 mg/l, 0.204 mg/l (10%), and 0.022 mg/l, respectively, at plant length 10 cm. Further, research results showed that the more the plants age, the larger the biosorption by plant.Keywords: ammonia biosorption, enceng gondok, plants age, residence time

Abstract

Transformasi digital dalam pendidikan menjadi salah satu upaya strategis untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan kualitas pengelolaan sekolah. Di SMA 1 Lhoknga, dilakukan pelatihan dan implementasi empat aplikasi utama, yaitu aplikasi ujian digital, manajemen kehadiran, konseling berbasis aplikasi, dan perpustakaan digital. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk membekali guru, staf administrasi, dan siswa dengan kemampuan menggunakan teknologi untuk mendukung aktivitas pembelajaran dan operasional sekolah. Aplikasi ujian digital memungkinkan pelaksanaan ujian yang efisien, dengan fitur penilaian otomatis yang mempercepat proses evaluasi hasil belajar. Sistem kehadiran berbasis aplikasi mendukung pencatatan kehadiran secara real-time, sehingga mempermudah pemantauan siswa dan guru. Sementara itu, layanan konseling berbasis aplikasi memberikan akses yang lebih fleksibel bagi siswa untuk menjadwalkan sesi konseling dan mencatat rekam jejak secara aman. Di sisi lain, aplikasi perpustakaan digital memungkinkan akses online terhadap katalog buku, mempercepat proses peminjaman, dan meningkatkan keterjangkauan sumber daya belajar. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan respons positif dari para pengguna. Guru dan staf administrasi merasakan pengurangan beban kerja administratif, sedangkan siswa menikmati kemudahan akses layanan. Proyek ini juga memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan literasi digital di lingkungan SMA 1 Lhoknga. Secara keseluruhan, pelatihan dan implementasi aplikasi ini berhasil menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan yang lebih modern dan efektif.

Abstract

Kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) kelompok 08 Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji dilaksanakan di SDN 010 Bukit Bestari Tanjung Siambang Dompak dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesadaran siswa mengenai bahaya bullying serta menumbuhkan budaya literasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan refleksi kegiatan. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap dampak negatif bullying serta tumbuhnya sikap saling menghargai dan peduli antar teman sebaya. Di sisi lain, kegiatan literasi memperlihatkan bahwa masih terdapat kesenjangan kemampuan membaca, khususnya di kelas 4 dan 5, sehingga diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih berkesinambungan. Kendala utama meliputi rendahnya fokus siswa, keterbatasan sarana, minimnya keterlibatan orang tua, serta waktu pelaksanaan yang terbatas. Meskipun demikian, penerapan strategi pembelajaran aktif seperti permainan edukatif, ice breaking, dan media interaktif terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan partisipasi siswa. Secara keseluruhan, program ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap pembentukan karakter anti-bullying dan menjadi langkah awal dalam membangun budaya literasi berkelanjutan di sekolah.

Abstract

This study reports the synthesis and characterization of a monolithic activated carbon adsorbent modified with alumina and chitosan (Al-Chit/OAC), derived from oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB). The adsorbent was fabricated through pyrolysis, followed by alumina incorporation and chitosan impregnation. FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of functional groups including OH stretching (3640cm), CH stretching (2920cm), CN/CO stretching (10551031cm), and AlO vibrations (693, 522, 495cm), indicating successful surface modification. TGA revealed two major stages of thermal degradation, with a total mass loss of 17.4% and a final residue of 17.55%, reflecting the presence of thermally stable inorganic components. SEM imaging showed a heterogeneous and porous surface with agglomerated particles and interparticle voids, suggesting enhanced surface accessibility. Even though we didn't test how well it absorbs substances, the physical and chemical properties of the composite show it could be very useful for cleaning up acid mine drainage (AMD) in the future. Further studies are recommended to validate its adsorption performance.
