Abstract

Today, the tendency of people to return to life to return to nature with the belief that taking natural medicines is relatively safer than synthetic drugs has an impact on the high demand for natural medicines. Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia Merr.) is one of the typical types of medicinal plants in Kalimantan wherein its use as a medicinal plant the tubers are consumed in the form of freshly boiled water or in the form of simplicia. Activities with training methods and demonstrations/practices are one of the solutions that can be done. The results of community service activities showed that all participants participated actively and could receive all the knowledge and skills transferred by the PKW team and were interested in doing it themselves at home where organic crop products would be consumed by themselves (40% ) and sold (60%) with processed food and beverage products (55%) and traditional forms of medicine (45%). Likewise, for the processing of compost made from traditional market waste, compost processed products will be used alone (85%) and sold (15%) with compost products made from market waste (80%) and other compost made from ingredients (20%) of interest. Hydroponics is a method of growing crops without using soil media but with a nutrient solution of minerals or other materials. The media used includes household waste, such as used bottles, buckets, hoses, pots, paralon, stove wicks, and other household items. This technique can be applied to the yard of the house to produce vegetables for the family. The purpose of the service is that the Mungku Baru Village Community can optimize their yards for agricultural crop cultivation using a floating raft hydroponic system and duck bucket to improve food security during the Covid-19/post-covid-19 pandemics. The activity was carried out in Mungku Baru Village, Rakumpit District, Palangka Raya City in August 2020. The method of this activity is by way of counseling and workshops or extension activities, and the practice of making simple hydroponics statically, namely by explaining simple hydroponic cultivation techniques directly and demonstrating them, and activity participants are given simple hydroponic cultivation pamphlets as a guide to hydroponic techniques in their homes. As a result of this activity, the community has prepared a hydroponic place, followed by preparing plant life media, sowing seeds, planting seeds, and making hydroponic solutions directly. Abstract

Environmental problems, one of which is caused by human activities and in the form of waste, require special attention in managing, for example, organic solid waste. Organic waste problems are also among the environmental problems, for example in the city of Palangka Raya, which is affected by increasing population growth. Data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia shows that the amount of organic waste produced daily is 0.7 kg/person and 60% of its composition is organic waste. The method of implementing charitable activities is through socialization and demonstration, as well as the application of products to cultivated plants. The phases of the activities carried out include the preparation phase, the biomass crushing phase, the fermentation phase, the product harvesting phase, and the product application phase. The products of the service activities are solid organic fertilizer (compost) and liquid organic fertilizer (POC), i.e. the water produced during the decomposition process. The compost products are characterized by the fact that they are not sharp, brown, and moist. Hopefully, the charitable activities carried out can be easily applied by communities and organizations that need knowledge and implementation of charitable activities related to organic waste processing to alleviate environmental problems, such as the Muhammadiyah Organization of Palangka Raya City.
