Abstract

Postpartum blues is a natural response to drastic hormonal changes after giving birth that affect the physical and emotional state of postpartum mothers. These drastic hormonal changes are not the main factor in the occurrence of postpartum blues, but the impact on the mother's psychological life, such as the lack of support from her husband, family, or community, postpartum fatigue, worries about economic conditions, and other social problems. This study aimed to determine the relationship between social support and the incidence of postpartum blues in postpartum mothers in the working area of the Pomalaa Health Center. This type of research is a correlation analytic with a cross-sectional design with a population of 50 postpartum mothers. Data was collected using the Postpartum Depression Predictors Inventory (PDPI) and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire. 12 postpartum mothers experienced postpartum blues (24%). Four received less social support, and 8 people received good social support. There is a relationship between social support and postpartum blues in postpartum mothers in the Pomalaa Health Center working area with a p-value of 0.002. Husbands and families, as the closest people, are expected to be able to provide social support to postpartum mothers so that mothers avoid postpartum blues.

Abstract

Currently, the government's target is to give COVID-19 vaccinations to children aged 6-11 years starting on December 14, 2021, with a target number of vaccinations reaching 26.5 million children. Giving COVID-19 vaccination to children 2 times with an interval of at least 28 days using the Bio Farma COVID-19 vaccine and/or Coronavac. Vaccination in children has been given previously, namely in children aged 12-17 years. Objective: To analyze the relationship of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of parents to the provision of independent vaccines for children. Methods: Analytical description research with a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 171 people. Results: There is no relationship between parental knowledge (p-value = 0.282) and parents' attitude (p-value = 0.459) toward the administration of the child's independent vaccine. There is a relationship between the behavior of parents (p-value = 0.000) on the provision of independent vaccines for children. Conclusion: Parents' knowledge and attitudes have no effect on interest in vaccinating children because parents believe that the COVID-19 vaccine is very important to prevent children from being exposed to serious risks due to COVID-19. Information about the COVID-19 vaccine is also very important for parents to reduce worries about side effects and vaccine safety. Therefore, the government, doctors, and nurses must always disseminate the COVID-19 vaccine to children.

Abstract

Anemia is a common nutritional problem among adolescent girls, primarily due to iron deficiency, which can affect physical growth, academic performance, and daily productivity. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge, attitude, behavior, and nutritional status with the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurul Iman Pomalaa. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 146 female students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection included questionnaires, anthropometric measurements for Body Mass Index (BMI), and hemoglobin (Hb) level testing. The results showed no statistically significant associations between knowledge (p = 0.756), attitude (p = 1.000), behavior (p = 0.246), and nutritional status (p = 0.493) with anemia incidence. However, all odds ratios were greater than 1, suggesting a descriptive tendency toward increased anemia risk among participants with poor knowledge, negative attitudes, unhealthy behaviors, or abnormal nutritional status. These findings emphasize the importance of preventive efforts through school- and family-based health education, especially regarding iron-rich dietary intake and compliance with iron supplementation. Further research is recommended to include other contributing factors such as menstruation patterns, psychological stress, and physical activity to better understand the multifactorial nature of anemia in adolescents.
