Abstract

Every country has its own culture. Japan has a close culture of art, both modern and traditional. One of the Japanese arts in literature is poetry. Poetry in Japanese literature is called haiku. To find out the differences and similarities in the meanings contained in the autumn-themed haiku by Masaoka Shiki and Takarai Kikaku, the writer intends to analyze the comparison of the two-autumn haiku by Masaoka Shiki and Takarai Kikaku. Comparative analysis of meaning is studied using Ronald Barthes's semiotic study to find its meaning. The semiotic study used is Ronald Barthes's semiotics which uses two stages of study through denotation and connotation, then its relationship with myth or culture. The result of this research produces a comparison of the similarities and differences between Masaoka Shiki's autumn haiku and Takarai Kikaku's. The similarity of autumn haiku by Masaoka Shiki and Takarai Kikaku is the theme raised, namely the beauty of nature and the environment. While the difference between the autumn haiku by Masaoka Shiki and Takarai Kikaku is the philosophical meaning of the discussion, and in the background of time and atmosphere mentioned.

Abstract

<p><em>This paper is titled Theme of Love in Mishima Yukio’s Shiosai. The purpose of writing is to reveal the major themes in Mishima Yukio&#039;s Shiosai and its relationship to other structures, especially figures and characters, plots and backgrounds. The analysis uses structural methods that have the concept that in a building of a literary work consists of interrelated and inseparable structures. Abstract

<div><p class="AbstractText"><strong> (Title: Informal and Formal Controls Against Yakuza in Japan)</strong> This research explores how far yakuza&#039;s development in Japan and to find social factors which affecting its change. The methods used are literary research. This paper discusses the implementation of formal and informal social control in Japanese society and its ties to yakuza. The fact that yakuza, as Japanese mafia, have been intervening its society for decades, is a strange phenomenon since Japan is known for its low crimes as portrayed on most of the media. The formal control section will be focused on the National Police Agency of Japan, while the informal control section will be focused on Japanese society, emphasizing on its culture. Both controls leave the door open for yakuza to establish power in society. Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of parents towards children in the short story &#039;Seibei to Hyotan&#039; by Shiga Naoya published in 1913 in Japan. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with data collection through literature studies. Data analysis is carried out by analyzing one of the elements of the short story structure, namely characterization and characterization, then understanding the relationship between the role of parents and children in this short story. Abstract

<p><em>(<strong>Title: Deus Versus Ohirume in Kamigami No Bishou: Cultural Clash Between West and Japan</strong>) The Kamigami no Bishou short story is one of the most famous Japanese literary works, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke. Kamigami no Bishou was created by Akutagawa in 1922 which tells the meeting of Organtino, a Christian missionary in Japan with an old man who was the embodiment of one of Japan&#039;s ancient gods. The purpose of this article is to reveal how the clash of cultures between the West and Japan was reconstructed in Kamigami no Bishou short stories. To achieve this goal, the following steps are taken. First, an explanation of the terms contained in the Kamigami no Bishou Short Story. Second, explained the actions of two figures in the short story that are in opposition to the Greimas model&#039;s official scheme because this scheme can make it easier to understand the actions and motivations of the characters. Third, the analysis of one of the short story structural elements is a theme with the aim of understanding the essence and purpose of the entire short story. Fourth, further explanation about the reconstruction of Western versus Japanese cultural clash which is explained by the presentation of binary opposition. After going through all four stages, it was concluded that the reconstruction of cultural clash in Kamigami no Bishou short stories was presented by Akutagawa in a conversation between the Organtino character and the old male character. Abstract

This research was conducted to reveal and classify the social adaptation efforts made by the main character in the film "Subarishiki Sekai" by Miwa Nishikawa. This type of research is quantitative research with a literary sociological approach. The theory used is Robert K. Merton‘s typology of adaptation. Data is collected by the listening and record method. The stages of adaptation according to Merton there are five, namely conformity, innovation, ritualism, retreatism, and rebellion. The results showed that from the five stages of adaptation, Mikami only performed the following four stages: (1) conformity, changing the way you look, looking for job openings, buying the latest mobile phone, studying for a driving exam; (2) innovation, biting the stomach of a thug who locks an employee at night; (3) ritualism, not saving and laughing at Abe when other employees bullied and made fun of Abe; (4) Retreatism, go to Kyushu to isolate themselves when all Mikami’s efforts did not get the response he expected. The conclusion of this study is that social adaptation must be done by ex-convicts who want to blend back into society.
