Abstract

Health promotion for children in society still focuses on the physical, while psychosocial stimulation for children is still not optimal. This is because there are still many parents who are not aware of the importance of children's mental health, or they are people who realize it but it turns out to be too late. This condition results in children experiencing limitations in obtaining their rights at their age as a result, mental development can also be delayed or disrupted. Therefore, appropriate stimulation is needed provided by parents as caregivers to children. The aim of this community service is to improve the development of toddler children and the abilities of parents through therapeutic group therapy for toddler children in the Bandarharjo sub-district. This therapy consists of family psychology, namely education that stimulates the mental development of toddlers in parents and therapeutic group therapy, namely therapy that involves families with the same needs. This therapy consists of 6 phases, namely autonomy stimulation, motor, cognitive, emotional, psychosocial and finally the experience sharing phase.  The results achieved after being given child therapy show an increase in development and good changes in parents' ability to stimulate their toddlers in terms of cognitive and skills.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental period marked by identity exploration and vulnerability to negative influences, with parenting playing a significant role in shaping behavior. This study investigates the relationship between parenting styles and violent behavior among adolescent inmates, focusing on two correctional institutions. The research employed a cross-sectional quantitative design, utilizing questionnaires to collect data from adolescent inmates in two prisons. The analysis focused on identifying the predominant parenting styles experienced by the inmates and the prevalence of violent behavior within this population. The findings revealed that authoritarian parenting was the most common style reported by respondents, and a high level of violent behavior was observed among the inmates. Statistical analysis (p-value=0.001) demonstrated a strong and significant correlation between authoritarian parenting and the occurrence of violent behavior, indicating that strict and inflexible parenting approaches contribute to the development of aggression in adolescents. These results underscore the importance of fostering positive parenting practices and providing targeted interventions in correctional settings to reduce violence among adolescents. Low educational attainment and external factors, such as peer influence and family instability, further exacerbate violent tendencies. Understanding the impact of parenting styles is essential for developing effective prevention and rehabilitation strategies for young offenders.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that significantly impacts patients' mental health, particularly their anxiety levels. This study aims to investigate the relationship between anxiety and coping mechanisms among diabetes mellitus patients in Semarang. This study employed the DASS 42 questionnaire to assess anxiety levels and coping mechanisms in patients. The results showed a significant correlation between anxiety levels and coping mechanisms in diabetes mellitus patients. The study revealed that patients with higher anxiety levels tend to use less adaptive coping mechanisms, which can exacerbate their health conditions. This study concludes that effective anxiety management is crucial in enabling diabetes mellitus patients to employ more adaptive coping mechanisms. Therefore, healthcare providers should offer psychological support to help reduce anxiety levels among these patients, ultimately improving their overall health outcomes.
