Abstract

Health promotion for children in society still focuses on the physical, while psychosocial stimulation for children is still not optimal. This is because there are still many parents who are not aware of the importance of children's mental health, or they are people who realize it but it turns out to be too late. This condition results in children experiencing limitations in obtaining their rights at their age as a result, mental development can also be delayed or disrupted. Therefore, appropriate stimulation is needed provided by parents as caregivers to children. The aim of this community service is to improve the development of toddler children and the abilities of parents through therapeutic group therapy for toddler children in the Bandarharjo sub-district. This therapy consists of family psychology, namely education that stimulates the mental development of toddlers in parents and therapeutic group therapy, namely therapy that involves families with the same needs. This therapy consists of 6 phases, namely autonomy stimulation, motor, cognitive, emotional, psychosocial and finally the experience sharing phase.  The results achieved after being given child therapy show an increase in development and good changes in parents' ability to stimulate their toddlers in terms of cognitive and skills.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental period marked by identity exploration and vulnerability to negative influences, with parenting playing a significant role in shaping behavior. This study investigates the relationship between parenting styles and violent behavior among adolescent inmates, focusing on two correctional institutions. The research employed a cross-sectional quantitative design, utilizing questionnaires to collect data from adolescent inmates in two prisons. The analysis focused on identifying the predominant parenting styles experienced by the inmates and the prevalence of violent behavior within this population. The findings revealed that authoritarian parenting was the most common style reported by respondents, and a high level of violent behavior was observed among the inmates. Statistical analysis (p-value=0.001) demonstrated a strong and significant correlation between authoritarian parenting and the occurrence of violent behavior, indicating that strict and inflexible parenting approaches contribute to the development of aggression in adolescents. These results underscore the importance of fostering positive parenting practices and providing targeted interventions in correctional settings to reduce violence among adolescents. Low educational attainment and external factors, such as peer influence and family instability, further exacerbate violent tendencies. Understanding the impact of parenting styles is essential for developing effective prevention and rehabilitation strategies for young offenders.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that significantly impacts patients' mental health, particularly their anxiety levels. This study aims to investigate the relationship between anxiety and coping mechanisms among diabetes mellitus patients in Semarang. This study employed the DASS 42 questionnaire to assess anxiety levels and coping mechanisms in patients. The results showed a significant correlation between anxiety levels and coping mechanisms in diabetes mellitus patients. The study revealed that patients with higher anxiety levels tend to use less adaptive coping mechanisms, which can exacerbate their health conditions. This study concludes that effective anxiety management is crucial in enabling diabetes mellitus patients to employ more adaptive coping mechanisms. Therefore, healthcare providers should offer psychological support to help reduce anxiety levels among these patients, ultimately improving their overall health outcomes.

Abstract

High self-esteem in medical personnel will create confident, optimistic, and self-assured personnel. High self-confidence will enhance professionalism and lead to satisfactory service delivery. This study aims to determine the relationship between medical personnel's self-esteem and outpatient satisfaction at the North Jayapura Community Health Center in Papua, Indonesia. This research method used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A sample of 30 respondents, consisting of 15 medical personnel and 15 outpatients, was selected using a total sampling technique. The research instruments were the PSQ-8 questionnaire and the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI). Data analysis used Point-Biserial Correlation. The results of the hypothesis test showed no significant relationship between medical personnel's self-esteem and patient satisfaction (p = 0.847). The correlation coefficient value was -0.055, indicating a very weak and negative correlation. While medical personnel's self-esteem is not directly related to patient satisfaction, it is an important component of a medical professional's well-being.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between self-disclosure and quarter-life crisis among undergraduate nursing students at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung Semarang. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 213 final-year students through validated self-disclosure and quarter-life crisis questionnaires. Descriptive analysis showed that most respondents had moderate to high levels of self-disclosure and experienced quarter-life crisis at low to moderate levels. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test revealed a significant association between self-disclosure and quarter-life crisis (p < 0.05). Students with higher levels of self-disclosure were more likely to report lower levels of quarter-life crisis, whereas those with low self-disclosure tended to experience higher crisis intensity. These findings indicate that self-disclosure functions as a protective psychosocial mechanism that facilitates emotional regulation, adaptive coping, and access to social support during the transition to adulthood. The study highlights the importance of strengthening interpersonal communication skills and providing supportive counseling programs to reduce developmental distress among nursing students. Promoting healthy self-disclosure may contribute to better psychological adjustment and academic well-being in higher education settings.

Abstract

Adolescent males are in a crucial developmental phase and are faced with social norms known as the Masculine Gender Role. This gender role often demands men to display strength, resilience, and Restrictive Emotionality (the limitation of emotional expression). The pressure to refrain from expressing feelings excessively, as it is often perceived to diminish masculinity, can hinder their emotional development. In the context of nursing, understanding this relationship is important to support mental health and promote healthy emotional expression in adolescent males. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the relationship between masculine gender role and emotional expression in adolescent males. Method: The type of research used was quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The subjects of the study were adolescent males at SMA Negeri 1 Sultan Agung Semarang. The sample size in this study was 304 respondents. The bivariate test used to analyze the relationship between variables was the Spearman Rank correlation analysis. Results: Based on the Spearman Rank correlation analysis, a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.968 was obtained with a significance value (p) of p < 0.01. This result indicates a very strong and significant negative relationship between masculine gender role and emotional expression in adolescent males

Abstract

Social interaction is a reciprocal relationship that occurs between individuals and groups. In the digital era, gadget use has become an inseparable part of students’ daily activities. Excessive gadget use may negatively affect students’ social behavior, especially their ability to communicate and interact with peers. If left unmanaged, students may become more focused on their gadgets rather than their surrounding environment. This research employed an analytic correlation design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 158 respondents were selected using a random sampling technique. Data were collected through a gadget-use questionnaire (20 items) and a social-interaction questionnaire (10 items). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The majority of students were categorized as having mild gadget dependency. Most respondents showed good social interaction. The Chi-Square analysis revealed a p-value of 0.0001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between gadget use and social interaction among seventh-grade students at MTsN 3 Demak. There is a significant relationship between gadget use and social interaction. Higher levels of gadget use tend to be associated with lower levels of social interaction.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between independence and self-adjustment among migrant students of the Faculty of Health, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA), Semarang. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 200 migrant students selected through total sampling from a population of 719 students. Two standardized questionnaires measuring independence and self-adjustment were administered online and had passed validity and reliability testing. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results indicate a positive and significant relationship between independence and self-adjustment (r = 0.502; p < 0.001), showing that higher levels of independence are consistently associated with better adjustment to academic and social environments. Independence contributes to emotional regulation, identity development, social integration, and professional readiness among students. These findings highlight the strategic role of independence as a core psychological resource in supporting successful adaptation during the transition to higher education. The study recommends strengthening independence through orientation programs, counseling services, and student development policies to enhance well-being, resilience, and academic success among migrant students.
