Abstract

This research was conducted at 2 students of SMPK Anak Bangsa Surabaya grade VIII. Subjects were selected based on the basic of equal mathematics ability. Data was collected using provision of problem-solving and task-based interview. Data was analysed using data reduction steps, data presentation, and conclusions. Meanwhile, to obtain valid research data in this study, researchers used time triangulation. The results indicated that in the number 1 problem of identifying patterns, the subjects of men and women tend to have similarities in stating what is known and asked the question, but the male students are more specific to explain the magnitude of the difference between the first quantity Followed by increased differences in other quantities. Related activities determine the relationship between two quantities, male subjects and women subject tend to have similarities in how to determine the relationship between two quantities that is by trial and error using existing mathematical operations.It can be concluded that the functional way of thinking both subjects is relatively the same. It's just that the male subject is more specific in finding the difference between the two quantities and finding the correspondence relationship between the quantities

Abstract

This research aim is to describe the high-level cognitive processes of high school students in solving mathematics problem based on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning style. The subjects of this research were three students which chosen from thirty-two students of class XII-1 SMAN 15 Surabaya based on visual, auditory, kinesthetic and who have the same mathematic skill. Instrument in this research include researcher, mathematic ability test, learning style questionnaire, mathematic problem-solving test, and interview guidelines. The analysis process in student’s sheet is based on high level cognitive process Anderson and Krathwohl which cover analyzing, evaluating, creating and Polya problem solving steps. The results showed that visual, auditory, and kinesthetic students went through different high level cognitive processes. Kinesthetic student can through high level cognitive processes to the cognitive process planning. Visual and auditory students can through high level cognitive processes to the cognitive process critiquing. Students need to be trained to solve mathematic problems in a variety way.

Abstract

One of the problems that often occurs is  the students cannot complete the thesis as expected. One of the factors that always occurs is that the students choose or determine the topic of their thesis that is not in accordance with their competence. He is more likely to choose supervisor.  This article is the result of research that aims to determine the suitability of a student's thesis topic according to their academic competence. The research was conducted on Unesa Mathematics students who are at the fourth year. The number of subjects are 35 students who were at the beginning of semester 7 and at that time were taking a mathematics seminar course. Seminar courses are the beginning of the preparation of their thesis. The method used is a modification of the "Medical Diagnostic" method in the health, which uses the application of the intuitionistic fuzzy relation concept. The results showed that there were 13 students or only 43.3% whose choice of thesis topic was in accordance with their competence, there were 17 students or 56.7% whose choice of thesis topic was not in accordance with their competencies.

Abstract

Penggunaan wolfram cloud diperlukan untuk mendukung keefektifan pembelajaran matematika selama masa pandemi Covid-19. Software ini dapat digunakan tidak hanya untuk menggambar grafik, visualisasi suara, menganalisa model bidang 3D tetapi juga dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan terkait kalkulus seperti persamaan kuadrat, turunan dan integral. Berdasarkan wawancara dengan beberapa guru matematika di MTsN 3 Jombang, 70% guru belum pernah menggunakan aplikasi wolfram cloud. Oleh karena itu mengingat pentingnya kompetensi guru dalam menguasai teknologi pada suatu pembelajaran maka kegiatan pelatihan wolfram cloud ini perlu diadakan. Berdasarkan hasil pre test dan posttest, terjadi peningkatan pemahaman tentang konsep persamaan kuadrat dan wolfram cloud yaitu dari rata-rata 41,4 menjadi 76,1. Selain itu, seluruh peserta pelatihan menyatakan kegiatan dapat menambah pemahaman terkait wolfram cloud dengan skor 4.46 (skala 5) dan dapat digunakan untuk pembelajaran matematika berbasis TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) di sekolah dengan skor 4.23 (skala 5).

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penalaran siswa laki-laki dan perempuan SMA dalam menyelesaikan soal AKM literasi numerasi. Penalaran adalah berpikir logis dalam menarik kesimpulan berdasarkan premis-premis. Sedangkan soal AKM literasi numerasi adalah soal menyangkut masalah kehidupan sehari-hari untuk menyelesaikannya melibatkan penalaran, berhitung dan menerapkan konsep hitungan ke dalam konteks nyata. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah satu siswa laki-laki dan satu siswa perempuan yang berkemampuan matematika setara. Subjek dipilih berdasarkan skor TKM kemudian diberikan tugas soal AKM literasi numerasi dan dilakukan wawancara sebelum dan sesudah mengerjakan soal. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan indikator penalaran yang terdiri dari; (1) Memahami masalah; (2) Memilih strategi; (3) Melaksanakan strategi dan; (4) Mengecek kembali penyelesaian masalah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap memahami masalah siswa laki-laki dan perempuan menyebutkan apa yang diketahui dan ditanyakan pada soal disertai alasan logis. Sedangkan pada tahap memilih strategi, siswa laki-laki dan perempuan menjelaskan cara yang dipilih beserta alasan logis namun, siswa laki-laki juga menyebutkan alternatif cara lain dan disertai alasan logis. Pada tahap melaksanakan strategi, siswa laki-laki dan perempuan menyelesaikan soal sesuai ide awal dan disertai alasan logis. Siswa laki-laki mengubah masalah ke dalam pemodelan matematika disertai alasan logis sementara siswa perempuan salah dalam menulis pemodelan matematika dan tidak disertai alasan logis. Pada tahap mengecek kembali penyelesaian masalah, siswa laki-laki dan perempuan mengecek setiap langkah penyelesaian dengan menghitung ulang. Pada penelitian ini, diharapkan bagi pendidik mampu mendorong siswa untuk melibatkan penalarannya dalam menyelesaikan soal dengan memberikan soal yang berkaitan dengan masalah nyata dan memungkinkan lebih dari satu cara. Reasoning is logical thinking in drawing conclusions based on premises. The subjects in this study consisted of one male student and one female student with equal mathematical abilities. Subjects were selected based on the TKM score and then given the task of AKM numeracy literacy questions and interviews were conducted before and after working on the questions. The data obtained were analyzed using reasoning indicators consisting of; (1) Understanding the problem; (2) Choosing a strategy; (3) Implementing the strategy and; (4) Re-checking the problem solving. The result shown that at the stage of understanding the problem, male and female students mentioned what they knew and asked accompanied by logical reasons. At the stage of choosing a strategy, male and female students planning the strategy with logical reasons, however, male student also mentions other way and gives logical reasons. At the stage of implementing the strategy, male and female students do their initial idea. The male student converting the problem into mathematical modeling and giving logical reasons, while the female student incorrectly wrote the mathematical model and did not provide logical reasons. At the stage of re-checking the problem solving, male and female students are already re-calculating their answer. This study hoped that educators will be able to providing questions that are related to real problems and allow more than one way so that their students use their reason to solve it. Abstract

Abstract

The results of learning mathematics is a process of changing new behavior which is the result of giving experiences received by students in the learning process which includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects whose success can be measured through written and oral tests. The learning outcomes achieved can be good or bad depending on the factors that influence them, including learning motivation and environmental factors study. This study aims to determine the effect of parental attention and peer environment on student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 1 Kolaka in 2022 using the Fuzzy logic of the Tsukamoto method. The data obtained in this study came from a questionnaire for the attention of parents and peers that had been filled out by students as well as mathematics learning outcomes obtained through the results of the even semester 2022 daily test scores. Based on the research results obtained in fuzzy calculations consisting of people's attention questionnaires parents and peer environment, it was found that the mathematics learning outcomes achieved were not good at 34.87 towards good mathematics learning outcomes at 65.12.

Abstract

In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as an international pandemic. This condition definitely affects the learning process, especially Mathematics learning in elementary school, and one of the goals expressed by Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan (BSNP), namely that students have the ability to understand concepts, reason, solve problems, communicate ideas, and have an attitude of appreciating the usefulness of mathematics in life. Most elementary school teachers in Magersari District have not been able to do problem solving training for students and they need help to improve their abilities in assisting their students in solving Math Olympiad problems. Therefore, an activity was held to development of online student olympiad training materials for elementary school teachers in Magersari Mojokerto Subdistrict. Base on the evaluation, it can be concluded that this activity can improve the ability of teachers to develop Math Olympiad questions at the elementary school level and be able to solve them with problem solving steps; In solving problems related to integers, teachers can apply the properties of integer operations, and do not use formulas that are not familiar to elementary school children; And also, this activity is felt to be fun and in accordance with its objectives.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the profile of students' creative thinking in solving math problems in terms of gender. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were one male student and one female student. The two subjects had high and equal mathematical abilities. The research results obtained in this study were (1) The creative thinking profile of male students in solving math problems, namely at the (read and explore) stage of understanding the problem, the male subject found important elements in the problem including elements that were known and asked . After knowing what was asked in the question, the subject also knew and explained verbally every element of the information that was known and what was asked had a relationship. At the (select a strategy) stage of choosing a solution strategy, the male subject knows the various ideas used in solving TPM and can explain well the reasons for using these ideas so that this fulfills the flexibility indicator. At the (solve the problem) stage of carrying out problem solving, the male subject put forward various strategies used in solving the problem, namely by combining the rules of subtraction with multiplication of integers and using a number line. After knowing the ideas and strategies used, the subject implements these ideas and strategies in solving TPM problems so that this shows that the subject meets the indicators of fluency and novelty. At the (review and extend) stage of checking the answers again, the male subject verbally said that the solution to the problem was correct by checking the answers. The strategy used in checking answers with the rules of integer arithmetic operations is to see the results of changes in the temperature of each city and to make a number line so that in this case it meets the indicators of flexibility (flexibility) and fluency (fluency).

Abstract

This study is a descriptive qualitative research with the aim of describing the critical thinking process of Junior High School students in solving mathematical problems in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive style. The subjects of this study consisted of 2 students of grade VIII junior high school with reflective cognitive style and impulsive cognitive style. The selection of both subjects also considers equivalent mathematical ability, same sex, communicative, and willing. Data collection technique is done by providing MFFT (Matching Familiar Figured Test), mathematical problem solving tasks, and interviews. Data were analyzed based on critical thinking indicators contained in FRISCO (Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity, Overview). The results showed that the critical thinking process of both students in solving the problem is relatively the same. At the stage of understanding the second problem, students already meet the FRISCO indicator. At the stage of making a plan, reflective students already meet the FRISCO indicator, but impulsive students do not do an overview. At the stage of implementing the plan impulsive students do not pass the overview. At the last stage, namely re-examining, impulsive students do not do situation and clarity. In addition between reflective and impulsive students have different ways or solutions in solving math problems. Students with reflective cognitive style in answering a given problem can understand something as a whole, analyze it much better, and do the planning and follow the plan, so that students with reflective cognitive style can do the process of thinking critically when facing a given problem.
