Abstract

The issue of motivation, especially in EFL context is very important since motivation is considered as the fuel or the driving force to keep a language class ‘alive’. Motivation itself is defined as the learners’ orientation with regard to the goal of learning a second language. Compared to ESL context, learning English in the EFL setting needs more efforts and persistence since English is not used in daily communication and there is little opportunity to interact with native English speakers.. This paper is going to discuss some motivational strategies to boost Indonesian EFL learners’ enthusiasm in learning English as a foreign language. Keywords : motivation, EFL learners, language class

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih menarik dengan menggunakan media film sebagai materi (supplementary materials) selain buku ajar untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pragmatik mahasiswa.penelitian ini diharapkan agar Ilmu Pragmatik dapat diajarkan dengan menggunakan film sebagai gambaran nyata dari penggunaan bahasa Inggris asli, baik verbal maupun non-verbali, diharapkan akan meningkatkan kompetensi pragmatik bagi mahasiswa.Mahasiswa juga diharapkanakan mampu menggunakan kalimat (discourse) yang sesuai dalam situasi komunikasi yang berbeda-beda. Dengan menggunakan materi otentik seperti film,diharapkan dapat membantu menaikkan tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa akan pentingnya kompetensi pragmatik khususnya  dalam menunjang komunikasi efektif melalui para penutur bahasa Inggris asli tersebut.Juga untuk pengajar, akan terbantu dengan adanya hasil penelitian inidalam memasukkan aspek pragmatik yang terintegrasi dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris melalui media film. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah experimental design dengan  menggunakan non-randomized control group, pretest-post-test design. Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah melalui observasi, interview dan kuesioner. Dari hasil lima kali  treatment yang di lakukan pada experimental group, terdapat kenaikan skor pada post-test. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan film dapat meningkatkan kompetensi Pragmatik para mahasiswa serta juga meningkatkan motivasi belajar mahasiswa dalam mempelajari ilmu Pragmatik. Kata Kunci :Kompetensi Pragmatik, media film, Communicative Competence

Abstract

AbstrakAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa penggunaan multimodalitas L2 soundplus L2 subtitles lebih meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris lisan mahasiswadaripada penggunaan multimodalitas L2 plus L1 subtitlesmaupun L2 sound plus L0 subtitles.Eksperimen dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisa data One-Way ANOVA untuk mengukur CAF (Complexity, Accuracy dan Fluency)melalui instrumen tes. Participants diambil dari mahasiswa semester 3 Universitas Kanjuruhan yang menempuh mata kuliah survival speaking sebanyak 29 mahasiswa yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok yaitu kelompok L2 subtitle, L1 subtitle, dan L0 subtitles. Kemampuan bahasa Inggris participant dipastikan homogen dari hasil tes  paper-based  TOEFL.  Tiga film “War Horse”,  “Robocop” dan “Ronin 47” digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa yang menggunakan L2 subtitle digabung dengan L2 sound dan gambar bergerak menghasilkan produksi bahasa Inggris lisan lebih lancar dan lebih akuratdaripada L1 dan L0 subtitles walaupun tidak lebih kompleks sehingga penggunaan multimodalitas dianjurkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan speaking..Kata kunci:kemampuan speaking, multimodalitas, CAFAbstractAbstract: The objective of the present study is to verify that the use of multimodal learning by using three different modes;picture motion, L2 sound, and L2 subtitles outperforms the other modes; picture motion, L2 sound, and L1 or L0 subtitles. An experimental study was conducted and One-Way ANOVA was used to analyze the data of CAF (Complexity, Accuracy dan Fluency) obtained from the students’ speaking test as an instrument. The 29 participants included were the third semester students of University of Kanjuruhan taking survival speaking class. They were divided into three groups: L0, L1, and L2 groups after being ascertained that they were homogenious in terms of language performance by taking paper-based  TOEFL.  The movies of “War Horse”,  “Robocop” and “47 Ronin”. The result of the study showed that using L2 sound, L2 subtitle, plus picture motion make EFL learners perform better than L2 sound, L1 or L0 subtitle plus picture motion in terms of fluency and accuracy other than complexity. So the use of multomodal learning are recommended to improve speaking skill.  Kata kunci:speaking skill, multimodality, CAF

Abstract

Sequence spaces is one of interesting topic of analysis research. Some of that are convergent and bounded sequence. In this paper we define some releated BK spaces (N&#773;,&Delta;&lambda;)<sub> &infin;</sub>, (N&#773;,&Delta;&lambda;), dan (N&#773;,&Delta;&lambda;)<sub>O</sub> some characteristics releated to them. Moreover we determine their &beta;-dual.

Abstract

Abstract: Teaching classes in which there is a uniformity of learners’ proficiency level is the most ideal environment in language classes since it enables teachers to apply appropriate teaching and learning strategies based on the individual student’s level. However, in EFL settings, most teachers especially in school environments have to teach classes in which the learners have multiple levels of ability, since at schools, there is no placement test on students’ ability of English as is usually done in private language institutions or courses. This paper provides some useful strategies which can be applied by teachers in teaching classes where true and false beginners are within the same class so that by applying these strategies, it is hoped that weaker students may get benefit from interacting with stronger students without holding back the strong ones. Abstract

The development of science and technology is increasingly encouraging renewal efforts in the use of technological outcomes in the teaching and learning process. The teachers are required to be able to use the tools that can be provided by the school, and it is also possible that the tools are in accordance with the development and demands of the times. The teachers can at least use inexpensive and unpretentious tools but is a necessity in the effort to achieve the expected learning goals. The development of instructional media is a plan to develop existing media or intermediary tools in order to improve the quality of information delivery in the teaching-learning process. Development activities learning media in broad outline must go through three major steps namely planning, production and penialian activities.

Abstract

This study aimed to forecast the new student number at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Manhalul Ma'arif Darek. The data used in this study was the annual time series data of new students who enrolled in the school, from the 1998/1999 academic year to 2016/2017. Based on the data obtained, it shows that the number of new students who enroll in Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Manhalul Ma'arif Darek tends to fluctuate. This fluctuating pattern is a problem faced by Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Manhalul Ma'arif Darek in determining strategic and policy steps related to planning the provision of school facilities / infrastructure. Therefore we need a forecasting method in accordance with the data pattern. The forecasting method used is the Fuzzy Time Series Cheng method. This method uses fuzzy principles as the basis of the forecasting process. The forecasting process results obtained the Mean Square Error (MSE) value of 101.5009 and the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value of 18.49%. The results showed that the Fuzzy Time Series Cheng method performed well in predicting the number of new students at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Manhalul Ma'arif Darek.

Abstract

Community service in the form of workshop on digital literacy at Rahmatullah Al-Ma'arif Darek Junior High School in Central Lombok aimed to improve students' understanding of digital literacy through a systematic evaluation process. The pre-test showed a low initial level of understanding, which significantly improved after the workshop. Statistical analysis using a t-test showed the effectiveness of the workshop in improving students' digital literacy. This research underscores the importance of ICT education and the need to include digital literacy initiatives in basic education. The findings provided additional insights for educators and policy makers in promoting digital skills among students, especially in rural areas.
