Abstract

The community service program was conducted in Minanga Timur Village, Southeast Minahasa Regency. This village was chosen due to its potential as a part of tourism area that could contributes the improvement of tourism industry y at Southeast Minahasa Regency. This program aims to increase the knowledge and skills of small business enterprises in digital marketing, to facilitate the government officers on village financial management and to construct a simple bridge for student access. Based on the program evaluation, the small enterprises were able to design and produce packaging that can contribute to competitive advantage for marketing products. On the other hand, the village officers are expected to implement proper financial and administration management. The bridge construction has also provided a safety and convenient access for the students to and from school. The social empowerment at Minanga Timur Village could supports a creation of the independent village that will benefits the communities wellfare

Abstract

The development of research results related to children's pedestrian shelters is implemented in the form of product applications at partner locations of Kreasi Mandiri Special Schools (SLB). The materials developed for the construction of the shelter are composite materials and coconut wood. School areas that are used by students and children visiting schools need outdoor shelters that are safe, comfortable and prioritize children's activities. The Kreasi Mandiri SLB school area in Winangun Atas village does not yet have adequate children's pedestrian shelters. The purpose of this activity is to explain the stages of implementing pedestrian shelter products and explain the changes that have occurred due to the implementation of research results at the Kreasi Mandiri SLB school as a service location. The method used is the construction of shelters based on research results of shelter design and construction. The manufacture of shelter products is carried out by providing materials according to design guidelines and carried out by expert workers, the implementation team of the Manado State Polytechnic. The result obtained is the availability of pedestrian shelters. Making this shelter consists of the stages of preparatory work, construction of shelter construction, painting work and arrangement of the area around the shelter. The shelter is used by school residents and visitors as an outdoor activity facility for students and school teachers. The application of research results is carried out and utilized directly by service partners. Continuation of the application of research results into an evaluation of the use of the shelter to improve its quality. This Vocational Innovation Product Business Implementation (PUPIV) activity is the basis for the school to continue the school environment development program and other environmentally friendly products. The application of research results to the community in the form of shelters becomes optimal with the involvement of implementers and partners. The use of shelters provides evaluation results for optimal use of facilities.

Abstract

The balance between the social and economic fields of rural communities is a goal of the Indonesian government, which is related to the development of human resources which then has an impact on increasing community income. This Community Partnership Program was conducted to the PKK group in East Minanga Village, Pusomaen Sub-District, Southeast Minahasa Regency. The background of this program is based on environmental problems in the form of plastic waste pollution and economic problems in the community that require creative business alternatives. As a non-biodegradable material, plastic waste that is generally generated from the consumption of drinks or food from the community is often piled up and clogs the drainage flow of the community, resulting in flooding. Therefore, the main objective of this program is to find solutions to handle plastic waste through the application of technology and improve community skills through making crafts from plastic waste. The method used is a community development approach where the community is directly involved during the program and involves the participation of the government and of course students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering at Politeknik Negeri Manado. From the results of the program, there was an increase in group skills in processing plastic waste into fuel oil with a production amount of 3-4 kg of PP and LDPE type plastic waste to produce approximately 8 liters of kerosene substitute fuel. In addition, the increase in group knowledge in processing plastic waste into handicrafts is an achievement that opens the emergence of new business groups that have an impact on increasing family income. It is hoped that the results of this program can make East Minanga Village a pilot village that encourages the dissemination of research technology to improve the quality and prosperity of people's lives.

Abstract

The utilization of natural fibers and recycled materials in cement-based composites has gained increasing attention as a sustainable approach to improving material performance while reducing environmental impacts. This study aimed to investigate the effects of bamboo micro-cellulose, cocopeat micro-cellulose, and recycled red brick aggregate on the characteristics of pozzolanic mortar. Mortar specimens were prepared using Portland Composite Cement (PCC), fly ash, lime, metakaolin, superplasticizer, bamboo micro-cellulose, cocopeat micro-cellulose, and recycled red brick aggregate. Compressive strength, flexural strength, and porosity tests were conducted at curing ages of 7 and 28 days. The results showed that the compressive strength increased with curing age, reaching a maximum value of 20.1 MPa at 28 days. The highest flexural strength (6.3 MPa) was achieved by the pozzolanic mortar containing 1.5% bamboo micro-cellulose without recycled aggregate, whereas the incorporation of recycled red brick aggregate tended to reduce flexural strength due to its higher water absorption and the lower quality of the Interfacial Transition Zone (ITZ). In addition, all mortar mixtures exhibited lower porosity at 28 days than at 7 days, indicating the formation of a denser cementitious matrix through hydration and pozzolanic reactions. Overall, the combination of pozzolanic materials, micro-cellulose, and recycled red brick aggregate demonstrates potential as an environmentally friendly alternative mortar through the utilization of biomass and construction wastes while maintaining satisfactory mechanical and physical properties.

Abstract

The continued use of Portland cement and natural aggregates in concrete can increase carbon emissions and deplete natural resources. This study aims to analyze the effects of using fly ash, lime powder, red brick waste, and bamboo fibers on the characteristics of mortar and concrete, as well as the economic value of concrete mixtures. The study was conducted experimentally using five variations of mortar mixtures and three variations of concrete mixtures. The parameters tested included the flow table, mortar compressive strength, mortar porosity, concrete compressive strength, concrete flexural strength, and material cost analysis. The results showed that the use of alternative materials reduced the flow table value due to an increase in the water-to-cement ratio. The mortar mixture with 1% bamboo fiber addition yielded the highest compressive strength of 19.1 MPa with a porosity of 1.93% at 28 days. For concrete, the BC-3 mixture showed an increase in compressive and flexural strength compared to BC-1 without increasing material costs. Economic analysis showed that the material costs for BC-1 and BC-3 were Rp59,889.00, which is 13.13% lower than those of normal concrete. The research results indicate that the combination of fly ash, lime powder, red brick waste, and bamboo fiber has the potential to produce more economical concrete with better mechanical properties than modified concrete mixtures without fiber, thereby supporting the development of more sustainable construction materials.
