Abstract

The issue of global diversity is an interesting one and must be introduced to native Indonesian students studying in Malaysia, one of whom is the Klang Malaysia Indonesian Citizen Education Center (PPWNI). The last study showed that seventh-grade students at PPWNI Klang, Malaysia, did not yet understand the meaning of global diversity. This study aims to describe the strategies of school principals and teachers to shape the character of global diversity in citizenship education and find out what diversity values are implemented in students. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis of research on students at the Indonesian Citizenship Education Center (PPWNI) in Klang, Malaysia, shows that the level of understanding of students still does not understand the meaning of global diversity. The activities carried out by school principals, teachers, and researchers in developing an attitude of global diversity in students by doing habituation at school, such as providing reading material on multicultural education, providing an understanding through Pancasila Education and Citizenship, and providing an understanding of global diversity through the media of global diversity posters. The implications of this research can make it easier for students to learn and understand individual differences and develop a tolerant attitude towards different people. Some of the results of the above activities that are most effective in providing students with an understanding of global diversity are achieved by using poster media, which can facilitate students' understanding of learning about differences and developing an attitude of empathy towards different people.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Instagram use on adolescents' global diversity values, particularly in the context of toxic relationships exacerbated by Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) traits. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey was conducted with 100 respondents from SMKN 1 Ponorogo and Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University. Data were collected using a questionnaire measuring Instagram use, global diversity values, toxic relationship intensity, and narcissistic tendencies. Analysis included validity, reliability, and T-tests using SPSS software. The findings revealed that Instagram use significantly influences adolescents' global diversity values through an "echo chamber" effect, which reinforces pre-existing beliefs and limits exposure to diverse perspectives. Additionally, toxic relationships, characterized by NPD traits such as a need for excessive validation and emotional manipulation, negatively impact adolescents' attitudes toward cultural and social differences. These results highlight the complex interplay between social media use, mental health, and adolescents’ global outlook. Instagram's reinforcement of biased perspectives and the prevalence of toxic relationship dynamics underscore the need for targeted interventions. The study emphasizes the importance of promoting social media literacy, education on healthy relationships, and mental health support for adolescents. These insights are critical for educators, parents, and policymakers to design strategies that mitigate the adverse effects of social media on adolescents' global diversity values and interpersonal relationships. Further research should explore longitudinal impacts and intervention efficacy.

Abstract

In the digital era, social media is increasingly integrated into educational practices. However, its potential remains underutilized for students with special educational needs, particularly slow learners. This study investigates the impact of social media use on the critical thinking skills of slow learners within civic education instruction. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was adopted. The sample comprised 55 slow learner students—30 from Junior High School 3 Ponorogo and 25 from Junior High School Muhammadiyah 2 Ponorogo. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed through simple linear regression. The analysis revealed that social media use accounted for 22% of the variance in students’ critical thinking skills (R² = 0.22). The effect size, calculated using Cohen’s f², was 0.282, indicating a moderate effect. Key improvements were noted in students’ abilities to analyze, evaluate, and draw conclusions when social media was integrated into learning with teacher support. These findings suggest that purposeful and guided use of social media can significantly enhance critical thinking in slow learner students. The study highlights the importance of adaptive instructional design and teacher facilitation in maximizing the educational benefits of digital platforms. To foster inclusive and effective learning, educators should incorporate teacher-mediated social media strategies tailored to the needs of slow learners, particularly in civic education contexts.

Abstract

Sentul Learning Studio is a form of tutoring for undocumented migrant children to obtain an education. The ethnic and linguistic diversity enhances the profile of Pancasila students with global diversity, as teachers incorporate this into their teaching. This research aims to understand how teachers contribute to strengthening the Pancasila Global Diversity student profile in Malaysian learning centers. The study utilizes a qualitative research method. Research findings show that raising the profile of Pancasila students with global diversity involves understanding and valuing various cultures, engaging in intercultural communication during interactions, and reflecting on and taking responsibility for diverse experiences. Conclusion This research explores the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which allows Pancasila education teachers at the Sentul Malaysia learning center to design student-tailored learning experiences. The center originally had 7 students, increasing to 13, 24, 37, and now 41 students, with 6 students currently inactive. The curriculum emphasizes global diversity competencies. Teachers integrate Indonesia's cultural heritage through activities such as traditional dances and games, including the Jathilan dance and the Ampar-Ampar Pisang folk song. Two students are fluent in Javanese and Indonesian. Activities such as celebrating Mother's Day and making crafts from recycled materials foster curiosity about Indonesian culture. Gymnastics and games with Indonesian roots such as Senam 123, Gemo Famire, and penguin gymnastics are also included. Learning the Jathilan dance, jumping rope, and making soybean tempeh exposes students to authentic Indonesian culture, fostering acceptance, appreciation, and a desire to learn.
