Abstract

Indonesia has declared Covid-19 a national disaster since March 14, 2020. Based on data from the Indonesian government, a total of 25,216 cases of patients were detected positive for Covid-19. In Indonesia, the first case of Covid-19 was announced on March 2, 2020. Most people infected with COVID-19 will experience fever and symptoms of respiratory problems such as coughing and shortness of breath. Older people, and those with other health problems such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and cancer are more likely to develop serious problems. The best way to prevent and slow transmission is with good information about Covid-19, the disease it causes and how it spreads (World Health Organization, 2020). So based on the above problems, we intend to hold community service in the form of Socialization of a Healthy Lifestyle to Prevent the Spread of Covid-19 in the community as an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The socialization activities carried out received a very positive response from the community, the community was happy to assist in posting flyers. The community was also very enthusiastic when given socialization with leaflet media and the curiosity of the community was also very high, seen from the many questions they submitted to the community service implementation team.

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension has increased over the past few decades and has become a major health problem because awareness of treatment and hypertension control levels is still very low (Li Y, Yang L et al, 2017). In principle, there are two types of therapy that can be done to treat hypertension, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is the provision of cucumber juice which can lower blood pressure (Tjiptaningrum & Erhadestria, 2016). The demonstration of cucumber juice is aimed at lowering the blood pressure of hypertensive sufferers and training people in lowering blood pressure in a non-pharmacological way, namely giving cucumber juice independently at home. The activities carried out consisted of measuring blood pressure, demonstration of cucumber juice making, and health education about the benefits of cucumber in reducing blood pressure. The number of participants was 25 people with hypertension. The results of this activity found that 20 people (80%) with hypertension experienced a decrease in blood pressure. The community seemed enthusiastic and able to practice making cucumber juice. PKM on demonstration of non-pharmacological therapy to lower blood pressure can be carried out routinely with different types of complementary therapies such as herbal therapy in lowering blood pressure.

Abstract

The rising use of disposable plastics among Indonesian university students contributes to the growing problem of plastic waste, making it essential to understand the factors shaping their intentions to use single-use plastics. This research aims to determine the impact of sociodemographic factors (age, education level, and economic status) and psychological factors (subjective norms, emotional motivation, and beliefs) on the intention to use disposable plastic among university students. The study contributes by integrating the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and the Value-Belief-Norm (VBN) Theory to explain the intention to consume single-use plastics in the Indonesian context, identifying the belief variable as the most dominant factor influencing behavioral intention. The research employed a quantitative descriptive-analytical approach with a cross-sectional design, conducted from April to June 2024. A total of 125 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires developed based on the TPB and VBN frameworks, then analyzed using descriptive statistical tests and multivariate logistic regression to identify significant predictors of behavioral intention. The results show that sociodemographic factors, age (p = 0.002), education level (p = 0.000), and economic status (p = 0.000), significantly influence the intention to consume disposable plastics. Likewise, psychological factors, subjective norms (p = 0.001), emotional motivation (p = 0.000), and beliefs (p = 0.000), also have a significant effect, with beliefs emerging as the most dominant factor (Exp(B) = 10.234). The study implies that efforts to reduce single-use plastic consumption among university students should focus on strengthening environmental education and transforming social norms to foster sustainable behaviors. Furthermore, future research with longitudinal designs and broader populations is recommended to enhance the generalizability of these findings.
