Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of variation in teaching materials and the reliance on traditional teaching methods, which affects the low causality thinking skills of students in schools. The aim of this research is to create digital teaching materials in the form of a scrapbook that can serve as a tool to improve students' causality thinking skills in history learning at SMA N 1 Banuhampu. This research uses a mixed-method approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and reinforced by administering simple tests to students. In this way, the researcher can analyze the needs in developing digital scrapbook teaching materials. Based on these findings, the researcher found that there is a lack of variety in teaching materials, and many teachers and students still use conventional teaching materials during learning. Considering the problems that have been identified, the researcher plans to develop teaching materials utilizing technology. The use of technology will help create diverse learning styles that can be adapted and serve as support in enhancing students' causal thinking skills. The digital scrapbook teaching materials developed by the researcher in this study provide an opportunity for students to better understand the learning material, thereby improving their causal thinking skills in history learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing learning media in the form of a video timeline based on Adobe Premiere Pro to improve students' chronological thinking skills in history learning at SMA Negeri 1 Banuhampu. The background of this study is the low chronological thinking skills of students, based on pretest results which showed that some students still have difficulty in arranging the sequence of historical events coherently and understanding the relationships between events. In addition, history learning is still dominated by lecture methods and the use of conventional media, so that it does not support students' chronological understanding. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and pretests. The results of the analysis indicate that teachers and students need learning media that are more interactive, contextual, and in accordance with the demands of the Independent Curriculum, especially in developing historical thinking skills. Video timeline media is considered relevant to help students understand the sequence of historical events systematically. Based on the results of this needs analysis, the development of video timeline learning media based on Adobe Premiere Pro is planned as a further stage of research to improve the quality of history learning.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of historical awareness among Phase F.1 students at SMA Negeri 1 Kinali, as shown by the results of a prior knowledge test in which only about 40% of students answered correctly while 60% still experienced difficulties. Interviews with the history teacher indicated that digital learning resources had not been utilized, and the student needs survey confirmed the demand for alternative instructional materials. The limitations of printed textbooks, which are less visually engaging and do not discuss the topic of the Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia in depth, also contributed to this condition. This research aimed to develop a flipbook-based e-module as a supporting learning resource to improve students’ historical awareness. A mixed-method approach was employed using tests, interviews, and needs questionnaires. The findings indicate that an interactive digital module is needed to create more flexible, engaging, and meaningful learning, ultimately enhancing students’ historical awareness effectively and sustainably
