Abstract

Installation of Hydro Pure Pro (HPP) Water Filtration Technology Using Slow Sand and Biomass Filters to Improve Student Health and Safety at TK IT Gemilang, Al Basri Foundation  Abstract Safe and clean water availability is essential to protect student health and safety in school environments. TK IT Gemilang, under the Al Basri Foundation, previously relied on refillable bottled water without an independent treatment system. Through this community service program, a Hydro Pure Pro (HPP) system based on slow sand filtration and biomass media was installed to provide an effective and safe water treatment solution. This HPP technology differs from conventional filtration systems by combining slow sand, biomass, and a 0.1-micron membrane in one compact unit that can be easily maintained by school staff without technical assistance. The installation was carried out on 11 August 2025, consisting of one HPP unit and two spare RO 0.1-micron filters. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in water quality, with clearer appearance and reduced iron (Fe) and TDS levels. Based on interviews with eight respondents (teachers, staff, and foundation administrators), the average satisfaction level reached 93.2%, with the highest scores in water clarity (95%), cost savings (93%), and ease of maintenance (88%). This program also contributes to capacity-building through a school-based mentoring approach, enabling teachers and staff to independently operate and manage the system sustainably. Overall, this initiative not only solves the clean water problem but also fosters awareness and self-reliance in sustainable water management, supporting student health and safety in a tangible manner.

Abstract

Dug wells serve as the main household water source for communities in the Kayangan Health Center area of North Lombok, making their structural integrity essential for ensuring safe water access. This study aimed to examine the relationship between dug well construction and the physical quality of clean water. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from April to June 2024. From a total population of 82 dug wells, 45 wells were selected as study samples using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error and simple random sampling to ensure equal selection probability. Well construction characteristics were assessed through direct field observation using a structured checklist based on Indonesian Ministry of Health standards. Physical water quality was evaluated through organoleptic testing of color, odor, and taste in accordance with national clean water regulations. The results showed that 88.9% of dug wells did not meet recommended construction requirements, particularly regarding parapet height, well lining, and watertight flooring. Physical testing indicated that 80% of water samples met quality standards, while 20% failed to meet one or more indicators. Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test revealed no significant association between well construction and physical water quality (p = 0.258). These findings suggest that physical indicators alone may not adequately reflect contamination risks, highlighting the need for comprehensive water quality monitoring that includes microbiological and chemical assessments to ensure groundwater safety.

Abstract

High levels of iron (Fe) and total dissolved solids (TDS) in well water remain a major groundwater quality problem in Indonesia. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a Hydro Pure Pro (HPP) water filtration system based on a multi-stage aeration–filtration process to reduce Fe and TDS concentrations. The HPP system combines activated carbon, zeolite, silica sand, mountain sand, and a reverse osmosis (RO) unit as final treatment, with a focus on assessing the effects of activated carbon raw materials (coconut shell and wood) and carbon bed thickness on adsorption performance. The results showed that coconut shell activated carbon exhibited superior performance, reducing Fe from 0.606 mg/L to 0.135 mg/L (77.72%) and TDS from 540 mg/L to 390 mg/L (27.8%) at a thickness of 20 cm. Increasing the carbon thickness to 30 cm improved removal efficiency to 79.9% for Fe and 28.7% for TDS, after which performance tended to stabilize. This improvement is attributed to the higher specific surface area and well-developed microporous structure of coconut shell activated carbon, which enhances Fe²⁺ adsorption through ion exchange and surface functional group interactions. In conclusion, the HPP system demonstrates high effectiveness and economic feasibility, making it a promising filtration technology for improving the quality of borehole water in community settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze user satisfaction and continuance intention toward mobile payment applications in semi-urban and rural Indonesia by integrating the SERVQUAL framework and the Expectation–Confirmation Model (ECM). Although e-wallet adoption has increased rapidly, empirical evidence on post-adoption behavior in non-urban contexts remains limited. This study addresses this gap by examining how service quality, expectation, confirmation, and digital literacy shape satisfaction and continued usage. Using a quantitative survey, data were collected from 212 active DANA users in Central Lombok Regency during December 2025–January 2026 and analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS. The results show that among the five SERVQUAL dimensions, only empathy has a significant positive effect on user satisfaction. Expectation and confirmation significantly influence satisfaction, whereas perceived usefulness does not directly affect either satisfaction or continuance intention. User satisfaction and digital literacy significantly predict continuance intention, while the moderating effect of digital literacy is not supported. From a practical perspective, these findings indicate that providers should prioritize user assistance, communication, and expectation management rather than interface or technical attributes when serving semi-urban and rural markets. This study demonstrates that expectation fulfillment and relational-based service quality are more decisive for sustaining e-wallet usage than technical features in non-urban settings.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in Sambelia Village, East Lombok Regency, an area characterized by dryland agriculture and high dependency on rainfall. The main problems faced by farmers are limited water resources, low crop diversification, and declining youth interest in the agricultural sector. The program aimed to enhance farmers’ capacity and productivity through the implementation of water-efficient irrigation technology and watermelon cultivation after corn harvest. The activities were carried out in five stages: socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. Training sessions adopted a learning by doing approach covering dryland watermelon cultivation, drip irrigation systems, organic fertilizer management, and digital marketing. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, with post-test scores increasing by an average of 47.3% compared to pre-test. In terms of productivity, farmers who previously cultivated corn only once a year were able to add a second cropping cycle with watermelon, resulting in a 166–200% increase in income. This activity demonstrates that the implementation of community-based irrigation technology effectively improves land-use efficiency, farmer independence, and agricultural sustainability in dryland areas.
