Abstract

This study aims to see the contribution of loneliness to cybersex behavior in adolescents. The hypothesis test used was simple linear regression analysis with 150 subjects aged 15-21 years, which were determined by snowball sampling technique. The measuring instruments used were the Cybersex Scale and the Loneliness Scale compiled by researchers based on aspects of Delmonico & Miller (2003) and Russell (1996). This study found that loneliness contributes significantly to cybersex with an R Square value of 0.090, which indicates that loneliness makes an effective contribution of 9% to cybersex behavior in adolescents.

Abstract

Academic Burnout is boredom because you are too involved in academic or learning activities. Low student learning outcomes can be caused by high levels of academic saturation. This research at Padang State University aims to try to describe differences in academic saturation between male and female students at Padang State University after the pandemic. 385 post-pandemic Padang State University students became the research sample. Student batches of 2021, 2020 and 2019 were taken as samples using proportional stratified sampling, which is the method used when the members or elements of the population are not homogeneous and are stratified proportionally. Quantitative method with comparative design is the type of research used. School Burnout Inventory (SBI) is an academic burnout scale instrument that is used to collect data with the validity of each item being greater than 0.50 and a reliable value of 0.881. With the help of SPSS software version 22.0 for Windows using the independent sample t-test method. The results of the analysis show that the academic saturation of male and female students is significantly different. The findings of this study also show that female students at Padang State University are more likely to experience post-pandemic academic burnout than male students. The findings of this study can also be used by campuses to develop learning strategies that will reduce students academic saturation levels.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and homesickness in new students at Islamic boarding schools. This research is quantitative research with correlation data analysis of Product Moment. This research involved 322 new Islamic boarding school students in Agam Regency, West Sumatra using cluster random sampling technique. The scales used in this study are the General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES) belonging to Schwarzer (1995) and the homesickness scale which was self-compiled based on the theory of Stroebe et al. (2002). The results showed that there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and homesickness in new students at Islamic boarding schools. So, to reduce homesickness in new students at Islamic boarding school, it is necessary to have a role of self-efficacy in new students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and bullying victimization in health science students in West Sumatra. The study used a quantitative method on 383 health science students in West Sumatra. The instrument in this study was made by the researcher himself, where the emotional intelligence scale refers to the theory put forward by Mayer (2004) and the bullying victimization scale refers to the theory of Smith et al. (1999). The results of the study showed that there was a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence and bullying victimization (r = -0.154, p <0.05). The results of this study indicate that the higher the level of emotional intelligence, the lower the bullying victimization experienced by health science students in West Sumatra. Conversely, a low level of emotional intelligence can increase the possibility of becoming a victim of bullying in health science students in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Bullying victimization remains a significant issue in educational environments, including at SMPN. This phenomenon has a detrimental impact on the victims, both physically and psychologically. Bullying victimization refers to the experience of an individual being subjected to aggressive actions by others repeatedly over time, with the intent to cause harm or discomfort. These actions can be carried out by one or more individuals and often affect the victim's well-being in the long term. One of the factors believed to influence bullying victimization is executive function. Executive function refers to a person’s ability to control impulses, plan, make decisions, and adjust behavior to achieve long-term goals. This function plays a crucial role in regulating responses to social and emotional situations, which can affect whether an individual is more vulnerable to becoming a victim of bullying. This study aims to examine the relationship between executive function and bullying victimization among 194 students at SMPN X Lima Puluh Kota. The research uses a quantitative correlational approach with proportionate stratified random sampling. The instrument used to measure bullying victimization was developed based on the aspects defined by Smith, et al. (1999), while the executive function instrument was based on the aspects outlined by Spinella (2005). The results of the analysis using the product moment method show a significant negative correlation between executive function and bullying victimization, with a correlation value of r = -0.863 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the better the executive function of students, the lower the level of bullying victimization they experience. Conversely, students with weaker executive functions are more susceptible to becoming victims of bullying.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between paternal involvement and bullying victimization in Pharmacy students in West Sumatra. Using a quantitative approach, this study involved 320 respondents selected from various Pharmacy colleges in the region. The research instrument was independently developed by the researcher, with the paternal involvement scale compiled based on Lamb's (2010) theory which includes the dimensions of direct involvement, emotional availability, and paternal responsibility. Meanwhile, the scale of bullying victimization refers to the theory of Smith et al. (1999), which includes forms of physical, verbal, social, and cyber victimization. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation technique, which showed a significant negative association between paternal involvement and bullying victimization (r = -0.728; p = 0.000). These findings indicate that the higher the level of father's involvement in a child's life, the lower the likelihood of the child experiencing bullying victimization. On the other hand, low involvement of fathers can increase the risk of students becoming victims of bullying. The results of this study make an important contribution to understanding the role of fathers as a protective factor against victimization behavior, as well as being the basis for the development of family interventions in the context of higher education. This research also opens up space for further studies on family dynamics and student mental health.
