Abstract

Background: Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the concentration of hemoglobin in them is lower than normal. Anemia in teenagers is still very high at over 20%. In detail, anemia in children aged 5 to 14 years is 26.8%, aged 15 to 24 years is 32%, meaning that 3 out of 10 people experience anemia. The impact of anemia if it occurs in adolescent girls and women of childbearing age is decreased body endurance, decreased fitness and agility of thinking, as well as decreased learning achievement and work productivity/performance. This research aims to find out the effect of consuming boiled chicken eggs and honey on adolescent girls with iron deficiency anemia. Methods:The research design used wa a pre-experimental design with the form of a one group pretest-posttest design at Sriwijaya Junior High School, Palembang, South Sumatra, The number of samples in the research was 13 respondents. The instrument used was an observation sheet, a tool for measuring Hb levels using an Hb Meter (Easytouch GCHb Model ET-321).  The researcher carried out bivariate analysis, namely using the paired T test. Results: The average Hb in the first measurement (pretest) was 11.46 gr/dL, with a standard deviation of 0.32 gr/dL. In the second measurement (posttest), an average Hb level was found to be 11.73 gr/dL, with a standard deviation of 0.31 gr/dL. It can be seen that the mean difference between the first and second measurements is 0.26, with a standard deviation of 0.34. Conclusion: The statistical test results obtained a value of 0.014, so it can be concluded that there was a significant difference between the HB levels of the first and second measurements at Sriwijaya Junior High School, Palembang, South Sumatra.Pengaruh Konsumsi Telur Ayam Rebus dan Madu Pada Remaja Puteri dengan Anemia Defisiensi Zat Besi

Abstract

Background: The incidence of anemia in adolescents is still very high, namely above 20%, 26.8% in children aged 5 to 14 years, 32% in children aged 15 to 24 years. This high incidence of anemia is closely related to compliance in consuming Blood Supplement Tablets (TTD). The aim of the research is to determine the analysis of factors in the incidence of nutritional anemia in young women. Methods: This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional research design. The research population was Sriwijaya Middle School students in Palembang, South Sumatra, with a sampling technique, namely a total population of 25 respondents. The measuring method used was an interview with the measuring instrument used was an open questionnaire about anemia in adolescents. Data analysis was carried out using the univariate analysis method to determine the frequency distribution of the variables studied, and the relationship between variables was carried out using bivariate analysis using the chi-square method. Results: The results of the research show that there is a significant relationship between the variables Knowledge p value 0.005, Nutrition p value 0.005 and maternal education level p value 0.049 with the incidence of nutritional anemia in young women at Sriwijaya Middle School in 2023. In the variables Attitude and menstrual patterns it is known that the p value is >0.05 which This means that there is no significant relationship with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there is still low exposure to information regarding the risk of anemia, especially among adolescent girls, so there is a need for active health promotion regarding the risk of stunting in adolescent girls, especially the incidence of nutritional anemia.

Abstract

Anemia is a common health issue among adolescent girls, primarily due to increased iron demands during growth and menstruation. This literature study aims to synthesize existing research on complementary therapies for managing anemia in this population. The study employed a literature review design with a systematic search of scientific articles published between 2018 and 2025. Data were collected from multiple electronic databases, including PubMed and Google Scholar, using keywords such as "anemia," "adolescent girls," "complementary therapy," "iron deficiency," "herbal medicine," and "nutritional intervention." Only peer-reviewed articles, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses published in English were included. The review found that natural interventions like Moringa oleifera leaf extract, beetroot juice, dates with lime juice, and educational programs are effective, affordable, and culturally acceptable for improving hemoglobin levels and anemia prevention. However, many studies have limitations such as small sample sizes and short intervention durations. Future research should focus on more rigorous designs with larger samples and longer follow-ups. Combining nutritional supplementation with health education offers a promising holistic approach to managing anemia in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent girls, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. This condition is generally caused by insufficient iron intake, an unbalanced diet, and increased iron requirements during growth. Anemia not only impacts physical health but also affects concentration, productivity, and quality of life. Therefore, interventions based on nutrition education and the utilization of local food sources are crucial in sustainable anemia prevention efforts. One potential complementary therapy alternative is the consumption of herbal drinks based on moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera). Moringa leaves are known to be rich in iron, vitamin A, and antioxidants that play a role in red blood cell formation. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of adolescent girls in utilizing moringa leaves as a natural source of iron. The target group is grade 10 and 11 female students at SMA Sejahtera Palembang, which was held in June 2025. The activity methods included a nutrition lecture on anemia and the importance of iron, an interactive discussion on the benefits of moringa leaves, and hands-on practice in making herbal moringa drinks (such as moringa leaf tea and moringa juice). The material was delivered using a communicative and participatory approach to actively engage participants. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the causes of anemia, the benefits of moringa leaves, and their willingness to consume herbal drinks as a preventative measure. Most participants also expressed interest in trying to make their own moringa herbal drink at home. This activity is expected to become part of school-based promotional and preventive efforts to address anemia in adolescent girls.
