Abstract

Background: Pneumonia is a lower respiratory tract infection that causes the most deaths worldwide. There is a lack of knowledge about the predictive value of Early Warning Score (EWS) for procalcitonin, CRP, Mortality in Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP). Purpose: The aim of this study was to see how accurate the EWS is at predicting procalcitonin, CRP and the mortality in Community Acquired Pneumonia patients who are hospitalized. All adult patients who were hospitalized for confirmed CAP between March and June 2023 were retrospectively included. Methods: A Total of 61 confirmed CAP patients treated in Internal Medicine High Care Unit were included in the present study. Results: The results showed that EWS≥8 was equivalent to procalcitonin in the septic shock category with (OR: 4.667), while EWS≥7 was equal to high risk CRP with (OR: 5.727), and the risk of mortality (83.3%). Conclusion: Based on the data analysis test, it concluded that EWS could used as a measuring tool to predict procalcitonin and CRP values, as well as mortality risk.

Abstract

Backgrounds: The role of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in angiogenesis is impaired in diabetes mellitus. The present study was conducted to observe the effects of nanopartikel green tea on the ability of EPCs exposed to high levels of glucose to release NO and induce endothelial cell migration. Purpose: This study aims to describe the mechanism of the role of green tea nanoparticles in increasing migration of endothelial cells in HUVEC cultures exposed to EPC-CM. The function of EPCs was assessed by evaluating HUVEC migration after administration of EPC-Conditioned Media. HUVEC migration was assessed by the Boyden chamber assay method. Method: Green Tea Nano Particles treatment at doses of 30 nM and 50 nM significantly increased endothelial cell migration at high glucose exposure of 22 mM. At a dose of 50 nM, normal glucose exposure increased endothelial cell migration better than high glucose exposure. Administration of high levels of glucose resulted in a decrease in the ability of EPCs to induce HUVEC migration, decrease in NO of EPCs, and decrease in the factor affecting EPC migration, namely SDF-1α and CXCR4. Results: Administration of 50 μM of nanopartikel green tea could inhibit the decreased ability of EPCs to induce HUVEC migration, and this effect was associated with NO, SDF-1α and CXCR4 concentrations. Conclusions: Administration of nanopartikel green tea could maintain the ability of EPCs exposed to high levels of glucose to release NO and induce HUVEC migration through an increase in SDF-1α and CXCR4.

Abstract

Background: Entering marriage is a crucial developmental phase, requiring thorough preparation to achieve the goals of marriage. The mental, social, and health readiness of prospective brides and grooms is crucial for the well-being of future generations. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to screen prospective brides and grooms for their mental, social, and health readiness. Methods: This observational study was conducted on 30 prospective brides and grooms in the Pare District Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) area, the samples take by with accidental sampling without inclusion and exclusion criteria. The variables included mental and social readiness, healthy lifestyle habits, blood pressure, and upper arm circumference for prospective brides and grooms. Results: The results showed that the prospective brides and grooms' mental and social readiness was relatively good. Regarding health readiness, two prospective brides had a low upper arm circumference (MUAC) and three prospective grooms had high blood pressure. Regarding smoking habits, the majority of the 15 prospective grooms, except for two, were smokers. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study are expected to provide important information in identifying issues in the health readiness of prospective brides and grooms that require strengthening.
