Abstract

The contribution of a principal in the development of school culture is very important in establishing students’ character. The aims of this research were to find out the principal's programs in developing school culture, the implementation, the supervision, and the obstacles faced by the principal during the implementation. This research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The subjects of this research were the principal, teachers, students, and school committee. The results of this research showed that (1) the principal’s programs in developing school culture was designed to strengthen its vision and mission through students character building, developing an entrepreneurial culture according to students department; (2) the implementation of principal’s program in developing school culture involved all school members, establishing social and emotional relationships through meetings, providing the good role model, and developing an entrepreneurial culture that carried out through the internalization of entrepreneurial values in school culture; (3) the supervision was carried out together with school members. The principal supervised directly to monitor the process of implementing school culture development; and (4) the obstacles faced by the principal were the school’s facilities and infrastructures that were optimally used, the absence of a reward and punishment system, and the difficulty of developing students’ commitment which affected students’ discipline and religious values, such as violating school rules. Abstrak Kontribusi kepala sekolah dalam pengembangan budaya sekolah sangatlah penting dalam pembentukan karakter peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: program kepala sekolah dalam pengembangan budaya sekolah, pelaksanaan, pengawasan, dan hambatan-hambatan kepala sekolah dalam pengembangan budaya sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh dari wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian kepala sekolah, guru-guru, siswa, dan komite. Hasil penelitian yaitu: (1) Program kepala sekolah dalam pengembangan budaya sekolah yaitu Menguatkan visi misi Pengembangan budaya sekolah menyangkut dengan pembinaan akhlak/karakter, pengembangan budaya kewirausahaan sesuai dengan jurusan; (2) Pelaksanaan program kepala sekolah dalam pengembangan budaya yaitu melakukan kerjasama dengan seluruh perangkat sekolah, membangun hubungan sosial dan emosional melalui rapat,memberikan contoh teladan, Pengembangan budaya wirausaha dilaksanakan melalui internalisasi nilai-nilai wirausaha dalam kultur sekolah; (3) Pengawasan dilakukan bersama dengan perangkat sekolah. kepala sekolah melakukan pengawasan secara langsung dalam memantau proses pelaksanaan pengembangan budaya sekolah; dan (4) Hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi kepala sekolah yaitu: penggunaan sarana dan prasarana yang belum optimal, tidak adanya sistem reward dan punishment, Sulitnya membangun komitmen peserta didik sehingga berimbas pada nilai kedisiplinan dan religius seperti, melanggar aturan sekolah. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of academic supervision and teacher performance assessment, through programs, implementation and evaluation of academic supervision planning and teacher performance assessment. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation. The research subjects were the principal, vice principal and teachers at SMA Negeri 3 Timang Gajah Bener Meriah. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis, while the data processing steps are data reduction, data display, and conclusions and data verification. Abstract

The principal's leadership is the ability and authority to influence, mobilize and direct action and encourage the emergence of a strong will with enthusiasm and confidence of teachers, staff and students in carrying out their respective duties for the progress and inspiring the school in improving learning. The purpose of this study is to find out how the leadership of school principals in implementing the independent curriculum to improve the quality of learning at SMAN 1 Labuhanhaji and SMAN Unggul Darussalam Labuhanhaji. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Based on the research findings, it was found that: (1) The planning process is carried out through meetings held at the end of each school year or before the start of the new school year. The parties involved in this planning are the principal, school superintendent, vice principals, teachers, and school committee; (2) The implementation strategy is already on the basis of a very good, effective and efficient concept. The implementation strategy is carried out through: guidance and workshops, education and training, MGMP, motivation, and through control; (3) Obstacles experienced by school principals, namely: teachers who lack mastery of material related to the independent curriculum, lack of infrastructure, workshops that are not on target, lack of funding, and lack of teacher motivation to upgrade knowledge; (4) Evaluation is carried out by determining the focus of evaluation, resource persons, assessment instruments, data collection and final reports, through questionnaires and observations / direct interviews that are routinely conducted. The parties involved in this evaluation are high school supervisors, principals, and vice heads of curriculum.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi tidak dapat dihentikan karena sesuai dengan kebutuhan di masa depan. Teknologi yang dapat berdampak buruk kepada pembangunan karakter peserta didik ternyata juga bisa dimanfaatkan menjadi media pembelajaran dalam membangun karakter mereka menjadi lebih baik. Pentingnya hal ini menjadi alasan ketertarikan tersendiri untuk di teliti. Metode yang digunakan dalam melakukan penelitian ini yaitu dengan metode systematic literature review yang sering di sebut juga dengan tinjauan pustaka atau kajian literatur secara sistematis memilih sumber ilmiah yang terkait untuk mendapatkan hasil yang lebih objektif dan terpercaya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat diimplementasikan untuk pendidikan karakter dalam manajemen pendidikan.

Abstract

The principal's strategy is one of the efforts to improve teacher performance in the learning process. The principal acts as a central force that drives school life, understands the duties and abilities for the success of the school and has a concern. The purpose of this study is to explain the principal's leadership strategy in improving teacher performance at SMAN 2 Unggul Ali Hasjmy, to mention the constraints of the principal's leadership strategy in improving teacher performance at SMAN 2 Unggul Ali Hasjmy, to describe how to overcome the problem of the principal's leadership strategy in improving the performance of SMAN teachers. 2 Superior Ali Hasjmy. The literature review used to analyze the results of this study, namely the Principal's Strategy and Leadership and Teacher Performance and the Principal's Strategy in improving teacher performance. The method used in this research is descriptive-analysis using a qualitative approach, data collection techniques with the stages of observation, interviews and documentation. The research procedure is planning, collecting data, describing, analyzing and concluding. The results of the study, the principal's leadership strategy in improving teacher performance at SMAN 2 Unggul Ali Hasjmy by increasing discipline, providing motivation, being an example for teachers and education staff and conducting supervision. Constraints that occur in the principal's leadership strategy in improving teacher performance at SMAN 2 Unggul Ali Hasjmy, some teachers are late for school, leave earlier than the time specified in the school teaching and learning process, do not improve performance, and the ability of the principal to supervise effectively is one of the problems. One obstacle for school principals is to improve teacher performance.Keywords: Principal Strategy, Teacher Performance

Abstract

The role of teacher competence and educational facilities is crucial in enhancing teachers' teaching motivation at schools. Good teacher competence and educational facilities are capable of boosting teachers' motivation. The sample was taken using probability sampling technique, involving 84 teachers. The purpose of this research is to determine: (1) the influence of teacher competence on teaching motivation; (2) the influence of educational facilities on teaching motivation; (3) the simultaneous influence of teacher competence and educational facilities on teaching motivation. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are validity test, reliability test, multiple linear regression analysis, simultaneous significance test (F-statistic test), coefficient of determination analysis (R2), and partial influence significance test (t-test). The results of this study indicate that: (1) there is a positive and significant influence of teacher competence on teaching motivation, with the tendency of teacher competence variables being in the high category by 35%; (2) there is a significant influence of educational facilities on teaching motivation, evidenced by the educational facilities variable being in the very high category by 71%; (3) there is a positive and significant simultaneous influence of teacher competence and educational facilities on teaching motivation, with a significance value of 0.001, F-value (30.082) > F-table (3.11), and p-value (0.001) < α (0.05). The coefficient of determination indicates an R square value of 0.426, and the equation notation Y = 36.412 + 0.283X1 + 0.055X2, meaning that the positive constant value suggests a positive influence of the independent variables, teacher competence and educational facilities, on teaching motivation.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in education forces teachers, willingly or not, to enhance their digital skills. School principals, as supervisors, can conduct academic supervision over their teachers to improve their ability in utilizing digital media. The aim of this research is to investigate the implementation of academic supervision programs for teachers to enhance their digital skills in Southwest Aceh Elementary Schools, covering planning, execution, and follow-up. This qualitative research gathers data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects include six teachers and the school principals from three elementary schools in Southwest Aceh District. The findings indicate that: (1) academic supervision planning to enhance teachers' digital skills in Southwest Aceh District starts at the beginning of the academic year, involving all teachers. Principals initiate planning by analyzing teachers' needs, followed by budgeting, scheduling, and scalable evaluation. (2) Academic supervision in Southwest Aceh Elementary Schools is executed through direct visits and group discussions such as training, workshops, and seminars. (3) Follow-up actions involve continuous evaluation at regular intervals. (4) Challenges faced by Southwest Aceh Elementary Schools include limited understanding among older teachers, inadequate facilities and funding, and limited time, all of which affect the achievement of academic supervision goals.

Abstract

This study explores how teachers' pedagogical competence influences student achievement across three junior high schools in Aceh Barat Daya. Using a qualitative approach, the research gathered data through interviews, observations, and document analysis at SMP Negeri 1 Blangpidie, SMP Negeri 1 Setia, and SMP Negeri 3 Babahrot. The findings reveal significant differences in teacher composition and student performance among the three schools. SMP Negeri 1 Blangpidie, which has a substantial proportion of certified teachers, demonstrated improved teaching practices and rising student performance. In contrast, SMP Negeri 1 Setia, which lacks certified educators, showed relatively constant student achievement. Despite having some certified teachers, SMP Negeri 3 Babahrot faces challenges due to limited resources and socioeconomic conditions, which led to low student achievement. This research emphasizes the importance of teacher certification and continuous professional development in improving student achievement. It also underscores the need for holistic strategies that consider external factors affecting educational quality. The study recommends targeted professional development programs, stronger collaboration among stakeholders, and leveraging technology to enhance pedagogical competencies. Strategic investment in teacher development and comprehensive educational planning can significantly improve learning outcomes across diverse school settings.
