Abstract

Artificial coarse aggregates is an innovation to replace natural coarse aggregate. In this study, the material used for the preparation of coarse aggregate is industrial waste, namely Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). The purpose of using this s in addition to knowing the magnitude of the compressive strength, it is also necessary to know the amount of strain that occurs when the concrete receives a load. In addition to improving the performance of compressive strength, steel fibers are also added to the concrete mixture. The method used in this research is experimental and analyzed with a mathematical model to determine the theoretical modeling of the stress-strain curve. The experimental test results show that the use of steel fibers can increase the compressive strength of normal concrete while the effect of this artificial coarse aggregates can increase the strain value by 39% of normal concrete. The results of experimental and theoretical comparisons of mixture composition which are considered to be closest to the stress-strain curve of normal concrete are concrete with a mixture of 15% artificial coarse aggregates and concrete with a mixture of 15% artificial coarse aggregates and 0,75% steel fibers.

Abstract

Learning related to scheduling is done manually and with the help of Microsoft Excel applications. In its implementation, there are still some minor errors that cause changes in the total cost as a whole. The use of applications such as Microsoft Project is believed to be able to minimize the occurrence of this error because of the workflow control feature. The implementation of community service is expected to be able to increase knowledge and improve students' skills in preparing schedules appropriately and in accordance with applicable rules. From the questionnaire, it can be concluded that the students felt this training helped them to be more familiar with the scheduling function with Microsoft Project and helped to better understand the Construction Cost Estimation (EBK) learning.

Abstract

Rendahnya hasil belajar peserta didik pada elemen Perhitungan Statika Bangunan menjadi fokus utama dalam penelitian ini. Hal tersebut dipengaruhi oleh metode pembelajaran yang kurang melibatkan siswa secara aktif, sehingga peserta didik masih kesulitan dalam memahami konsep tumpuan pada struktur bangunan. Untuk mengatasinya diterapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) yang dirancang mampu dalam melibatkan peserta didik terhadap pemecahan masalah nyata sebagai sarana membangun pemahaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian yaitu Post-test-Only Control Design, melibatkan dua kelas X Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB) di SMK Negeri 1 Sidoarjo. Kelas eksperimen sebanyak 38 siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL), sedangkan kelas kontrol sebanyak 37 siswa menggunakan pembelajaran Discovery Learning. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil menunjukkan keterlaksanaan di kelas eksperimen sangat baik (guru: 95,5 %; peserta didik:88,6%) dan respon peserta didik sangat positif (82%). Berdasarkan hasil uji-t, diperoleh nilai t hitung = 3,35 yang lebih besar dari t tabel = 1,99, yang menunjukkan perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan dan hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

Background: A higher education quality assurance system through accreditation activities is necessary as an indicator for measuring the quality of higher education institutions to ensure that the needs of students and the community are met in accordance with established quality standards. This study aims to determine the achievements of graduates against the gold standard of Surabaya State University (UNESA), determine the time required for graduates to find their first job, evaluate the relevance of the field of study to the graduates’ fields of work, and identify the scale of their workplaces. Methods: Tracer Study data were collected from Civil Engineering undergraduate alumni graduating between 2019 to 2022. Data were gathered in 2023 through questionnaires administered through the UNESA tracer study website. The responses were analysed using quantitative descriptive methods and presented in the form of percentage-based graphs. Results: The distribution of Tracer Study data shows that the highest gold standard achievement was recorded in 2021, with 75% of alumni meeting the indicators. Regarding waiting time, more than 40% of graduates obtain their first job within three months across all years. The relevance between the field of study and the field of work reached over 40% for the ‘Very Relevant’ category, while the majority of alumni were employed in national-scale companies. Conclusion: According to the Tracer Study data distribution analysis, Unesa's Gold Standard achievement reached 75%. Furthermore, the short waiting period for employment indicates the high level of graduate readiness for the workforce. The strong relevance between academic fields of study and professional fields of work, along with the dominance of employment in national-scale companies, indicates that the Civil Engineering Study Programme at Unesa is relevant to the needs of the labor market.

Abstract

The implementation of environmentally sustainable materials plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions in the construction sector. This activity aimed to enhance community understanding of geopolymer materials through outreach and hands-on demonstrations of geopolymer pot production in Tanggumong Village, Sampang District. Geopolymer was chosen as an alternative to conventional cement due to its ability to utilize industrial byproducts such as fly ash. The program included material presentations, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants’ average understanding from 55% to 81%. Specifically, basic knowledge improved from 49% to 81%, attitudes from 85% to 94%, and practical skills from 85% to 88%. The community responded positively to the geopolymer pot as an environmentally friendly alternative material. Overall, this activity effectively enhanced environmental literacy and awareness of sustainable material use while contributing to the achievement of SDG 12 and SDG 13.

Abstract

Davao City, Philippines, is located in a high seismic zone along the Pacific Ring of Fire, where residential buildings are highly vulnerable to earthquake damage. This community service program aimed to improve earthquake risk awareness and understanding of simple earthquake-resistant housing concepts among students and teachers of Sekolah Indonesia Davao (SID). The program was conducted through preparatory coordination, educational implementation, and evaluation stages. Educational activities included pre-tests, distribution of booklets, lectures on basic structural principles of earthquake-resistant houses, video demonstrations, discussions, and post-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding, with correct responses increasing from 36% in the pre-test to 82% in the post-test. Participant feedback also indicated high satisfaction with the relevance, clarity, and usefulness of the materials. The program demonstrates that school-based education can serve as an effective community-based earthquake mitigation strategy in high seismic regions.
