Abstract

Background: Swimming instruction in higher education is still predominantly characterised by teacher-centred approaches, with limited empirical evidence examining the effectiveness of student-centred and integrated pedagogical models. In particular, little is known about the comparative impact of combining multiple learning approaches on swimming skill development across different swimming styles. Objectives: This study aimed to (i) examine the effects of an integrated learning (IL) model—combining problem-based learning (PBL), project-based learning (PjBL), digital learning media, and peer assessment—on students’ swimming learning outcomes across four swimming styles, and (ii) compare the effectiveness of the IL model with single PBL and PjBL approaches. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest group design was employed involving 93 university students enrolled in a swimming course. Participants were assigned to three groups: IL, PBL, and PjBL. Data was analysed using paired-samples t-tests to examine within-group effects, two-way ANOVA to identify between-group differences, and Tukey HSD post hoc tests. Effect sizes and confidence intervals were also calculated. Finding/Results: The IL model produced significant improvements in swimming performance across butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle techniques, with large effect sizes observed in all styles. Comparative analyses revealed that the IL group achieved significantly higher learning outcomes than both the PBL and PjBL groups, while no significant difference was found between PBL and PjBL. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that an integrated learning model that combines multiple student-centred pedagogical approaches, digital learning media, and peer assessment is more effective than single-method approaches in university-level swimming education. This model offers a promising pedagogical framework for enhancing swimming instruction and warrants further investigation across different educational levels and learning contexts.

Abstract

Shooting ability is an important skill in soccer that determines the success of scoring goals. Improving this ability requires proper physical training to optimize muscle strength, coordination, and kicking accuracy. This study aims to determine the effect of various shooting accuracy training in soccer games at SSB RBS Soccer School. The research method used is a quantitative experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design, where an initial measurement (pretest) was taken before treatment and a final measurement (posttest) after treatment. The study population was 43 players, while the sample consisted of 15 people selected by random sampling. The varied shooting accuracy training program was implemented for 18 meetings which included pretest and posttest data collection. Shooting ability was measured by a kick test from a distance of 15 meters towards a soccer goal that had been given a target net. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with an average difference of 3.47 points and a significance value of p = 0.011 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that the training provided is very effective in increasing leg muscle strength, coordination, and body stability which contributes directly to improving shooting abilities in the soccer game of SSB RBS Soccer School players.

Abstract

A person's willingness to exercise is strongly influenced by motivation. The purpose of this research is to discover The description of the people’s motivation in doing physical activity during COVID-19 pandemic based on the social stratification and the motivation indiccators (intrinsic & extrinsic). The research method uses descriptive analysis. The determination of the sample uses Quota Sampling which amounts to 1% of the total population, namely 1,389 people. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire which is divided into 18 questions with the help of the google form application. The research time is July–August 2021, where the research follows the provisions of WFH (work from home). Data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 20 applications. The results, people’s motivation in doing physical activity during COVID-19 Pandemic is based on the social stratification, majority are on the very high category. We hope that the results of this research can be a scientific reference for policy makers, relevant agencies, sports practitioners, in drafting regulations related to community physical activity (exercise) during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Limitations of research and suggestions for further research; There is a possibility of bias when respondents answered the questionnaire, considering the very long period of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia and various phases such as Lockdown/Large-Scale Restrictions (PSBB), Small/limited scale restrictions, and New Normal (Adaptation of new habits). In the future, Similar research should include the phase and or time (date/year) so that there is no bias when respondents answer the questionnaire and should collaborate with more credible government agencies if involving a wider sample.

Abstract

Background: Existing tactical assessment tools generally evaluate overarching game principles but lack positional specificity and do not integrate decision-making and execution within a coherent framework. Moreover, these instruments were developed outside the Indonesian context, creating a clear gap for a position-integrated tool tailored to the tactical demands of youth football in Indonesia. Objectives: Thusstudy aimed to develop and validate a new instrument for assessing attacking tactical behavior in youth football by incorporating positional roles and experience-level differences. Methods: The instrument was developed through content validation with seven experts using Aiken’s V. Construct validity was subsequently assessed via the known-groups method, involving 72 football players from a university club and youth teams. The instrument’s reliability was further evaluated through inter-rater reliability with three raters and test–retest reliability with 36 youth football players. Finding/Results: The instrument demonstrated excellent content validity (Aiken’s V = 0.952) and good discriminant validity, with college players scoring significantly higher than youth players. Reliability analyses indicated strong inter-rater (ICC = 0.837-0.939) and test–retest reliability (ICC = 0.801-0.923). Compared with other instruments, the tool offers greater positional detail and holistic integration of tactical behavior, enabling more context-specific evaluation of attacking actions. Conclusion: The instrument was found to be valid and reliable for assessing attacking tactics in youth football. Although the sample size was limited and the instrument development did not yet address defensive and transitional phases, these findings support further refinement and application in future research.
