Abstract

One of the English language skills that has to be mastered by Senior High School Students in Indonesia is skill in EFL reading. This research was aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using the Think-Aloud Strategy in teaching EFL reading. It also investigated the students’ responses to the implementation of the Think-Aloud Strategy in teaching EFL reading. A quasi-experimental design with pre and post-tests was used for this research. Two classes, each with 25 second grade students from SMA Lab school in Banda Aceh were chosen as the sample for the research using a random sampling technique. The reading tests (pre and post-tests) and a questionnaire were used as the instruments for the research. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics with SPSS 20.The results showed that the use of the Think-Aloud Strategy improved the experimental group (EG) students’ reading scores and then, these students also gave positive responses to the use of the strategy in teaching-learning EFL reading. Therefore, the hypothesi of this research were accepted. This means that the use of the Think Aloud Strategy significantly improved the students’ EFL reading scores as compared with those students who were taught EFL reading by using a conventional EFL reading strategy. The EG students also gave positive responses to the implementaion of the strategy in teaching EFL reading. It can be concluded that the use of this strategy significantly improved the second grade, year 11, students’ EFL reading ability.

Abstract

This study was aimed at identifying the maxim violation(s) in English classroom in an English class at Politeknik Aceh Selatan. The maxim violation analyzed was only the one produced by the lecturer as the key speaker in the video. Regarding the methodology, this study employed qualitative approach because the analysis emphasized more on the data quality instead of data quantity. The data source as well as the instrument for this study was the video from English class and the data collection was carried out through a documentation procedure in which the video were checked repeatedly to classify data based on the utterances. The data were then analyzed using Interactive Analysis following the three-step procedures: data condensation, data display, and data verification The results showed that the most Gricean Maximum violations occured in the quantity maxim (42 times). The second is the maxim of quality (24 times) and the maximum of relation (17 times). The least violations occur in the maxim of manner (5 times).

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays an important role in a developing country that covers all economic life because it can become the main source of national income. Efforts that must be avoided are to avoid crop failure, one of the things that cause crop failure is that there is no match with the right planting period at the time of planting. So the purpose of this research is to build a decision-making system in the form of a system for determining planting time based on the traditional Aceh farming system. The process developed with information technology in the decision-making method using Mamdani fuzzy logic based on the Graphic User Interface by involving several criteria including the calculation of the month in the Hijri year, the calculation of days, the calculation of the time of planting, and the level of rainfall. So that when starting the process of planting rice traditionally, farmers with this system can choose the best time to grow crops in rice farming. This study used 40 samples as test data obtained from several villages in South Aceh Regency. The results of the study after testing, several classifications become decisions where the results that show very right are 2 respondents or 5%, exactly 16 respondents or 40%, less precise as many as 10 people or 25% and inaccurate as many as 12 people or 30%. Abstract

As an institution providing higher vocational education, the South Aceh Polytechnic (POLTAS) must of course be consistent in carrying out innovations and policies regarding the development of information technology in improving services for the use of systems implemented within the campus. South Aceh Polytechnic issued a policy in 2023 regarding the issuance of Diploma Companion Certificates. The problem formulation in this research is how to build, design and collect the results of an information system that is able to adapt dynamically in assessing student activities while they are active students at the South Aceh Polytechnic, which is realized in a certificate accompanying the diploma. The aim of this research is to build a South Aceh Polytechnic Diploma Companion Certificate Information System (SISKPI), which provides information about a graduate's field of expertise to agencies or industry to obtain professional workers. Abstract

Advances in science and technology have become the idea of a tool for the development of oyster mushroom cultivation which has increased following the large market demand. Cultivating oyster mushrooms in areas with high temperatures requires special care techniques. Current technological developments make it easier to maintain oyster mushroom cultivation, namely by automatically regulating the temperature and humidity in the cultivation room. With automatic temperature control, it can make maintenance easier and reduce failure in oyster mushroom production. To realize the simulation of automatic temperature and humidity control, several pieces of hardware are needed, namely temperature and humidity sensors, DC fan, LCD, power supply, and Arduino Uno as the processor. which are then combined into a system. The growth of oyster mushrooms is greatly influenced by the surrounding environmental conditions. Therefore, we must know the conditions that are suitable for growth before we cultivate oyster mushrooms. Usually, the growth of oyster mushrooms will be optimal throughout the year if the cultivation location is by its natural habitat, namely in a mountainous area with an altitude of between 400 - 800 meters above sea level and an air temperature of around 21 - 29 oC with a humidity level of around 60 - 80%. In general, farmers cultivate natural mushrooms in a room to obtain environmental conditions suitable for growth. Because mushrooms are very sensitive to temperature and humidity, it is necessary to monitor the temperature and humidity in the growing room.

Abstract

This study aims to assess user satisfaction with the evaluated information system by employing a quantitative research approach, specifically through the use of a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. Respondents were asked to rate their level of agreement with 16 structured statements designed to reflect five key dimensions of user satisfaction: content, accuracy, format, ease of use, and timeliness. The Likert scale ranged from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree), allowing for the collection of measurable and standardized responses. The collected data were analyzed by calculating the Actual Satisfaction Score (SKN), which represents the total cumulative score based on all respondents’ answers. This score was then compared to the Ideal Satisfaction Score (SKI), which was determined by multiplying the total number of respondents by the total number of questions and the highest possible Likert score. In this case, with 112 valid respondents, the SKN was calculated at 7,841, while the SKI reached 8,960, resulting in a Satisfaction Percentage (PK) of 87.52%. This high level of satisfaction suggests that the system effectively meets user expectations, particularly in delivering high-quality information, ensuring timely services, and providing a user-friendly interface. These findings highlight the system’s strong performance in key usability areas and underscore its potential for further development. Furthermore, the results serve as an evidence-based foundation for future enhancements, especially in fostering user-centered, accessible, and sustainable digital services.

Abstract

Penulisan karya tulis dan karya ilmiah di bidang pendidikan merupakan salah satu bentuk pengembangan profesi dari seorang guru yang dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan mutu pendidikan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Namun jumlah karya ilmiah yang dihasilkan oleh keprofesian guru masih berada di angka yang rendah. Salah satu kesulitan penulisan karya ilmiah yang dialami oleh para guru adalah pengembangan ide atau pemikiran menjadi sebuah tulisan karya ilmiah yang koheren dan padu. Untuk itu, perlu dilakukan pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dalam bentuk laporan penelitian maupun penulisan artikel dalam jurnal ilmiah. Hal ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan dan menambah kemampuan seorang guru untuk bisa dalam keterampilan bahasa verbal menjadi terampil juga dalam menuangkan ide dan pemikirannya dalam bentuk tulisan. Sejumlah guru terutama guru muda yang mengajar di SMA dan SMK di Kabupaten Aceh Selatan menjadi target utama dalam pelatihan ini. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman mengenai metode penulisan artikel ilmiah yang baik dan berkualitas, meningkatkan motivasi guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah, serta menghasilkan naskah/artikel oleh guru yang layak dipublikasikan. Dalam hal ini turut difasilitasi dengan template dari jurnal dan jurnal yang bisa menampung artikel para guru yang layak untuk dipublikasikan.

Abstract

This qualitative case study explores how AI assistance influences students’ cognition in English academic writing. With 18 undergraduate students in an Academic Writing course as research participants, the study compares assignments and reflections that were created with and without the aid of AI. Data were collected through two main sources: a set of written assignments (one non-AI-assisted and one AI-assisted per student) and reflective personal statements detailing students’ learning experiences. The primary instruments included a qualitative analytic framework adapted from a writing rubric to guide close reading and thematic coding of both assignments and reflections. Data analysis was conducted through comparative content analysis and thematic analysis, focusing on key dimensions such as argumentation, organization, creativity, grammar, and real-world awareness. The findings suggest that AI-assisted writing not only supports surface-level features, such as grammar and vocabulary, but also fosters deeper argument, organization, and critical engagement skills. Many students expressed greater confidence and an enhanced awareness of problems in the world, saying that AI had led the way to more effective, independent thinking; but the analysis emphasizes that the extent of cognitive reframing varies significantly depending on how purposefully and critically students interact with AI tools. Conclusively, the results contribute to the ongoing discussion of AI in higher education: when used thoughtfully, AI can be a complementary pedagogical partner that enhances higher order thinking and self-efficacy. The study recommends further research in different contexts and on long-term outcomes.

Abstract

Keterampilan dalam mengoperasikan Microsoft Office merupakan kemampuan dasar yang wajib dimiliki mahasiswa untuk menunjang kegiatan akademik maupun administrasi. Oleh karena itu, Politeknik Aceh Selatan menyelenggarakan pelatihan pengenalan dasar Microsoft Office bagi mahasiswa baru penerima beasiswa Pemerintah Aceh Tahun 2025. Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah memberikan pemahaman dan keterampilan praktis dalam menggunakan aplikasi Microsoft Word, Excel, dan PowerPoint. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan pendekatan praktik langsung (hands-on training) yang dipandu oleh instruktur, serta disertai penugasan untuk memastikan pemahaman peserta. Pelatihan ini berlangsung secara intensif dan diikuti dengan antusias oleh mahasiswa baru. Evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam penguasaan keterampilan dasar Microsoft Office. Peserta mampu menyusun dokumen akademik dengan format yang benar, mengolah data melalui tabel dan rumus sederhana di Excel, serta merancang presentasi yang sistematis menggunakan PowerPoint. Keberhasilan ini menegaskan bahwa pelatihan dasar Microsoft Office efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi digital mahasiswa. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini, mahasiswa baru penerima beasiswa tidak hanya dibekali kemampuan akademik, tetapi juga keterampilan teknologi informasi yang relevan dengan kebutuhan dunia pendidikan dan dunia kerja. Pelatihan ini diharapkan menjadi fondasi awal yang dapat mendukung keberhasilan studi serta menambah daya saing lulusan Politeknik Aceh Selatan di masa mendatang.

Abstract

The activity of washing hands is still done manually, especially in public places. Few people also wash their hands using water, soap, and tissue excessively to clean their hands. Therefore, the author created a series of automatic hand sanitizer designs using an Arduino-based infrared sensor consisting of three main parts: a water tap, soap, and dryer. This tool works by detecting the hands to be cleaned using an infrared sensor connected to a supporting device. The design of this tool is made to facilitate hand-washing activities to be more practical and hygienic. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that the device that has been made can work well as expected.
