Abstract

Gogo rice as one of many commodities developed on sloping topography, thus potentially increasing run off a water and soil erosion that will transport nutrients to the other place. The aim of the research was to know the Erosion Selectivity on Land Cultivation of Gogo Rice in Countryside of Lau Damak Distric of Bahorok Sub-Province Langkat. The research was conducted from September until November 2014 through 2 stages of activity, it was fieldwork and laboratory activities. The Stages of fieldwork has done in village at Lau Damak District of Bahorok Langkat on 15% slope. The results of field activities was analysis in agriculture faculty laboratory,University of North Sumatra, Medan. The reseach use a t-test to differentiate the nutrients at upper, center, and bottom of the slope. The selectivity of erosion can be seen from the changes in the levels of clay and organic Carbon in the upper, middle and lower slopes. Selectivity erosion can also be seen from the changes, total-N, available P, pH, K, CEC, and soil texture on the part of the slope.The results showed that the Organic Carbon and Total-Nitrogen were significantly differenton the slopes position.Key words : Soil Erosion, selectivity erosion, gogo rice

Abstract

Evaluation of Inceptisol soil chemical in Gambir Core Garden in the Sub district of Salak Pakpak Bharat District has been conducted from March 2013 to June 2013. This study aimed to evaluate the soil chemical (pH, N, P, K, CEC, Organic Carbon, Exchangable Aluminuim) based on land position on the Gambir Core Garden of Pakpak Bharat District. The method used in this research is descriptive method by conducting surveys and soil sampling based land position on the top of the hill, hillside and part of the valley. The results show the value of N and Organic Carbon are tends to rise in the valley compared to the top of the hill and the hillside. As for the value of CEC and Exchangable Aluminium are tend to rise on the hillside compared to to the top of the hill and the valley, while the value of pH, P and K are relatively same.Keyword: land position, soil chemical, gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb.)

Abstract

This research was aims to study the qualitative erosion on land cultivation of 25 Years old rubber trees in Lau Damak Village, Bahorok District, Langkat Region. The research was conducted from September-December 2014 by doing field activities and laboratory activities. Field activities was sampling the soil on slope 26-28 % with textured sandy clay loam, then the soil samples were analysed at BPTP Laboratory, Medan. Then the results of the analysis were processed by T-test.The results showed P-available,CEC and clay fraction is significant on slope position, but not significant to N-total, K-dd and C-organic. The highest average of CEC and clay fraction are in the middle of the slope. The highest average N-total and C-organic are in the slope above. The highest average pH, P-available and K-dd are in the lower slopes, the bulk density in each slope have a same value.Key words : Qualitative erosion, , 25 years old rubber trees

Abstract

Qualitative Erosion Studies on The Rubber Cultivation of The People Age 15 Years In the village of Lau Damak Bahorok subdistrict Langkat. The study aims to determine the qualitative erosion in the area of cultivation by using descriptive method with sampling technique based on stratified random sampling method. Research analyzing various parameters such as pH level of soil fertility, texture, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC). Organic C, N-total, P-available, K can be exchanged (K-dd) and Bulk Density. The results show that the qualitative erosion that occurs in the area of rubber cultivation people aged 15 years in the village of Lau Damak Bahorok subdistrict Langkat cause terangkutnya nutrients P and K to the valley as well as the value of the levels of C-organic and N-total high value of land in the back caused by a number of existing litter above the soil surface.Required soil and water conservation efforts in the form of ground cover (cover crop) as well as the manufacture of terracing on slopes to prevent soil erosion.Key words : Descriptive, Qualitative erosion, Stratified Random Sampling.

Abstract

Penggunaan lahan di daerah hulu DAS terdiri dari kawasan hutan, pertanian, dan agroforestri. Berbagai komposisi tegakan tanaman yang  berbeda–beda akan mempengaruhi kondisi tanah baik pada sifat fisika maupun kimia tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan karakteristik fisika tanah pada beberapa tegakan di Sub DAS Petani. Lokasi penelitian di desa Buluh Awar, Kecamatan Sibolangit Kabupaten Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara, Laboratorium Fisika Tanah dan Laboratorium Riset dan Teknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara pada bulan Maret sampai dengan Agustus 2015. Teknik sampling berdasarkan metode purposive sampling dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Data diolah dengan uji Anova dan uji BNT taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permeabilitas tanah tertinggi terdapat pada  tegakan tanaman durian (7,310 cm/jam) dan berbeda nyata pada tanah tegakan tanaman aren   (3,842 cm/jam) dan karet (4,606 cm/jam) tetapi tidak berbeda nyata dengan hutan (5,712 cm/jam). Tegakan hutan dan tegakan tanaman serbaguna tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kerapatan isi  (bulk density), porositas tanah dan kadar air tanah.

Abstract

Penggunaan lahan yang didominasi dengan berbagai vegetasi penutup lahan yang memiliki sifat biologi tanah yang baik merupakan salah satu indikator DAS yang baik.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan karakteristik biologi tanah pada berbagai penggunaan lahan di Sub DAS Petani. Penelitiandilakukan di desa Buluh Awar, Kecamatan Sibolangit Kabupaten Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara, di Laboratorium BPT Bogor, Laboratorium Biologi Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara padabulan Maret sampai dengan November 2015. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sampling berdasarkan metode purposive sampling.Parameter yang diukur yaitu C–organik, N–total, C/N, respirasi tanah, populasi cacing tanah dan total populasi mikroorganisme.Data diuji dengan uji t taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perubahan tegakan hutan menjadi berbagai tegakan menurunkan kandungan C–organik tanah, N–total tanah, populasi cacing tanah, respirasi tanah dan populasi mikroorganisme, meningkatkan  rasio C/N. Meskipun tidak menunjukan perbedaan karakteristik biologi tanah, namun  tanaman aren dan durian lebih dianjurkan.

Abstract

Tanah  sawah  adalah  tanah  yang  digunakan  untuk  bertanam  padi  sawah sepanjang  tahun maupun  bergiliran  dengan  tanaman  palawija. Kandungan bahan organik tanah yang rendah merupakan salah satu permasalahan utama yang menyebabkan rendahnya produktivitas lahan sawah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan beberapa sifat kimia tanah sawah akibat pemberian bahan  organik pada pola tanam padi - semangka. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Air Hitam Kecamatan Lima Puluh Kabupaten Batu Bara Provinsi Sumatera Utara mulai April sampai Juli 2014. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan perlakuan Bahan Organik yaitu Tanpa bahan organik, Jerami padi 5ton/ha, pupuk kandang domba 2,5ton/ha, pupuk petroganik dan mulsa jerami 0,5ton/ha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk petroganik dan mulsa jerami 0,5ton/ha nyata meningkatkan C-organik tanah dan pH tanah, dan pemberian pupuk kandang domba 2,5ton/ha nyata meningkatkan K-tukar tanah serta pemberian jerami padi 5ton/ha nyata meningkatkan berat buah dan diameter buah.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of the research ware to study the effect of Gaharu, Damar, and Meranti wood planting on rubber plantation site over soil biological properties in District Bohorok Langkat as well as to see the effect of the best tree for land space in rubber plantation. Research conducted at Land of Rubber Plantation in the village of Batu Jonjong and Timbang Lawan in February 2016 until June 2016. This research used survey descriptive method by purposive sampling method. Sampling chosen ware for: control as rubber without intercrops (K0), rubber trees intercrops with Gaharu (K1), rubber trees intercrops with Damar (K2) and rubber trees intercrops with Meranti (K3). The measured parameters ware organic C, total N, C/N, microbes total, soil respiration, soil macrofauna and earthworms. The results showed that planting gaharu, damar and meranti gave effect improvement of biological properties in rubber plantation and the best tree for land space in rubber plantation was rubber with Damar trees (K2). Abstract

Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum) is Sapindaceae family, commonly found in agroforestry land, owned by the community in Langkat District, North Sumatra Province as One of Multy Purpose Tree Species. This study aimed to asses and map the distribution land suitability for N. lappaceum. This research was conducted in Gunung Ambat Village and Simpang Kuta Buluh Village, Sei Bingai Sub District, Langkat Regency using survey method. The soil samples data was collected in the field based on the land unit. Land suitability assessment was evaluated using matching method. To map the distribution of land suitability, the Geographic Information System (GIS) was used. Global Positioning System (GPS) also was used in this study to record the coordinate points of each soil sample from the field. The results indicate that the actual land suitability classes for N. lappaceum were dominated by moderately suitable (S2) (97.56%) in Gunung Ambat Village and moderately suitable (S2) (52.92%) in Simpang Kuta Buluh Village. The water availability (wa) and root zone medium (rc) were the dominant limiting factor in this area.

Abstract

Pembangunan sistem pertanian terpadu telah dilakukan di salah satu lahan pekarangan warga Desa Sei Semayang Kecamatan Sunggal Kabupaten Deli Serdang Sumatera Utara. Di lahan seluas ± 1022 m2 terdapat pohon hutan berupa kombinasi mahoni, dan jati (berumur 11 tahun), serta trembesi, damar, jelutung dan ketapang (berumur 3 tahun), di lahan selanya dipelihara ternak kambing, ikan (kolam tanah untuk ikan lele, nila, patin, dan gurami), unggas (itik dan ayam), serta sebagian lahan ditanami tanaman pertanian (sayuran terong, cabai, rimbang, ubi kayu, dan lain-lain) dengan sistem surjan dan pot yang secara intensif dilakukan sejak Januari 2012 hingga kini. Dari pohon hutan telah dipanen 3 batang pohon mahoni untuk pembuatan kusen pintu dan jendela. Dari kolam telah dipanen ikan lele dumbo dan dari 10 ekor ternak kambing telah berkembang menjadi 14 ekor dalam 1 tahun. Dari 15 ekor induk itik dan ayam dapat dipanen rata-rata 5 butir telur per hari. Dengan demikian, sistem ini telah memberi manfaat tambahan kesejahteraan ekonomi keluarga dan perbaikan ekologi (kesejukan dan peningkatan biodiversitas) di lahan pekarangan. Pengelola sistem pertanian terpadu ini adalah Komunitas Pemuda Peduli Lingkungan (KOPPLING) Pondok Miri Desa Sei Semayang.
