Abstract

Adolescence is a phase in life that is prone to depression. Depression in adolescents can be influenced by their family context, which can involve high parental expressed emotions and low emotion regulation among adolescents. This study aims to reveal the relationship between parental expressed emotion and adolescents’ depression, as mediated by emotional regulation in adolescents. The measuring instruments used are depression scales, the scale of adolescent emotional regulation and the scale of perceived parental expressed emotion. The participants were 212 adolescents who were identified using the purposive sampling technique. Analysis of the research data was made using simple mediation models with PROCESS. The results show a relationship between maternal expressed emotion and depression in adolescents, fully mediated by adolescent emotional regulation (BootLLCI = .030, BootULCI = .083, B = .055). There is also a relationship between fathers’ expressed emotion and depression in adolescents, partially mediated by adolescent emotional regulation (BootLLCI = .027, BootULCI = .073, B = .048). The results of the study could provide an alternative explanation of the dynamics of the relationships between fathers, mothers and adolescents. In addition, the findings emphasize the importance of adolescent emotion regulation.

Abstract

Abstract

Institutions that provide zakat amil have lofty social objectives. Enhancing employee performance within these institutions has the potential to improve community services and have a larger social impact. Spiritual principles frequently serve as the foundation for work ethics and motivation in zakat amil institutions. The study aims to examine how employee engagement and interpersonal communication are mediated by organizational citizenship behavior based on spirituality (OCBBOS) and how this affects the work output of employees at Amil Zakat Institution. The Amil Zakat Institutions located in the province of East Java include the population under study. The sampling method used is proportional random sampling. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS is the data analysis technique employed in this study. The study's findings indicate that OCBBOS is influenced by interpersonal interactions and employee engagement. Employee performance is influenced by interpersonal communication and employee engagement. Employee performance is impacted by OCBBOS. Through OCBBOS, interpersonal communication and employee engagement affect employee performance. The novelty of the research is that OCBBOS is an intervening variable because OCBBOS is an organizational behavior factor that can influence a person's performance. The research's practical implication is that it can serve as a model for other social institutions looking to better achieve social goals by fusing administrative techniques and spiritual principles.

Abstract

This study explores the application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology as a tool to enhance environmental vocabulary learning and improve the speaking skills of tourism employees in Sumbawa. Given the importance of English proficiency in the tourism industry, many employees face challenges in mastering vocabulary and effective communication. Adopting a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with 16 employees from four tourism sites. The findings indicate that 87.5% of respondents believe AR significantly aids vocabulary expansion, with 75% reporting increased confidence in speaking English. Additionally, 62.5% see AR as relevant to their professional needs, while 50% find it helpful in understanding environmental terminology. Despite these benefits, some challenges remain, including limited access to AR devices and the absence of real-time feedback. The study concludes that AR has substantial potential to enhance language learning by improving vocabulary retention and speaking proficiency. Moreover, integrating AR into tourism training programs could further support employees in developing essential language skills for their professional growth.

Abstract

The adaptability of education systems to technological change is a critical and inevitable demand. This study explores the unpreparedness of Indonesian madrasah teachers in adapting to the ongoing digitalization of religious education. Using a grounded qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that teachers struggle to adapt to digital-based religious instruction, primarily due to difficulties operating technological tools. This unpreparedness is further exacerbated by limited technological infrastructure and low levels of digital literacy among teachers. As a result, the effectiveness of religious education is hindered, and instructional time is often used inefficiently. The study underscores the urgent need to improve technological infrastructure and enhance teachers’ digital competencies to better support the digital transformation of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Students at SMAN 1 Singosari continue to demonstrate limited problem-solving skills and cognitive learning outcomes, partly due to contextually irrelevant media and reliance on LCD projectors. This study aimed to evaluate the validity and practicality of “Digestopia”, an audiovisual, website-assisted electronic board game developed using the RICOSRE model (Reading, Identifying problem, Constructing solution, Solving the problem, Reviewing the problem solving, and Extending problem solution) and integrated with the SDGs' Zero Hunger initiative (Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger). The development process adopted the Lee and Owens instructional design model, which consists of four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. Data were collected using expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques to determine the average scores. The results showed that “Digestopia” was valid (90.6%) and practical (86.7%) for classroom use, indicating its potential as an interactive learning tool.
