Abstract

Metal plating frequently employs nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) as anodes. Cu/ Cu-Ni film formed has many advantages, such as better corrosion resistance and high hardness characteristics. This study aims to assess the properties of Cu/Cu-Ni film, such as phase, surface morphology, crystallographic orientation, hardness, corrosion analysis, and contact angle, which were fabricated using electrodeposition with various Ni salt additions (0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 M). In addition, the cathode current efficiency (CCE) and deposition rate of the Cu/Cu-Ni electrodeposition were also investigated. An increase in Ni salt in the plating bath could enhance the pH, promoting higher CCE and depleting hydrogen evolution at the cathode, leading to the presenting Ni phase in the alloy. The higher concentration of Ni salt in the solution could also enhance the deposition rate due to a shift to a pH value, which affects the roughening of the surface morphology, promoting a higher contact angle. All crystal structures generated by Cu/Cu-Ni electrodeposition were FCC, with the preferred orientation of the (111) plane. Crystallite size and lattice strain depend on the deposition rate. Less crystallite size and lattice strain affect the film’s hardness and corrosion resistance. Moreover, the third bath had the resulting Cu-Ni layer with the best hardness and corrosion rate of around 136 HV and 0.081 mmpy.

Abstract

Abstract

Papua, an equatorial region in Indonesia, faces unique geographical and natural challenges, including heavy annual rainfall. This heavy rainfall increases flooding risks and impacts infrastructure, the economy, and daily life. Despite the importance of rain gauges for monitoring floods and climate change, Papua's difficult geography and limited transportation infrastructure hinder their installation and maintenance. In this work, we investigate a deep learning one-dimensional convolution neural network (1DCNN) model to estimate rainfall intensity using energy per symbol to noise power density ratio (Es/No) of the signals received from a communication satellite signal coupled with additional data representing satellite daily movement. The findings of this study demonstrate that the performance of the proposed model has a higher accuracy for moderate to heavy rainfall than for light rainfall. The NRMSE values for light rain, moderate rain, and heavy rain are 47.09, 31.78, and 33.58%, respectively. These results show that this method is promising for monitoring heavy rainfall as a flood mitigation effort. However, there is still room to improve the accuracy of the estimation such as using other secondary data that is highly correlated with rain at the satellite transceiver location.

Abstract

Polycrystalline La0.7Ba0.3Mn(1-x)FexO3 (x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.25) has been successfully synthesized using the sol-gel citrate-nitrate auto combustion method, with the high purity basic materials of La2O3, Ba(NO3)2, Mn(NO3)2.4H2O, Fe2O3, and C₆H₈O₇.H₂O as reaction fuel. After the gel was formed, the sample was heated at 180oC for 2.5 hours. Calcination was carried out at 800oC for 2 hours. Then the sample was compressed with a pressure of 10 tons, the sample was sintered at a temperature of 900oC for 2 hours. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis data shows a single phase in the four samples. SEM analysis data shows that the morphology of the particle diameter becomes smaller as the Fe is being added to the Mn site. EDS analysis data shows the element content in the four samples which is in accordance with stoichiometric calculations, and confirms that the product resulting from the sol-gel synthesis is homogeneous. The calculation of Goldschmidt tolerance factor has confirmed that the crystal structure is rhombohedral perovskite structure (0.929, 0.934, 0.939, and 0.941). Abstract

The polycrystalline sample of La0.8-xAgxCa0.2MnO3 (x = 0.1 and 0.15) has been successfully synthesized using a sol-gel method in our previous work. Here, we have investigated the electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance of both samples. All samples exhibited metallic behavior, as evidenced by the resistivity data measured in the temperature range from 9 to 285 K. As silver concentration increases, the resistivity decreases throughout the whole explored temperature range. Increasing silver ion concentration improves double exchange interaction (DE) between Mn3+ and Mn4+ which is responsible for gradually decreasing resistivity. The electrical transport is quite well described by a theory based on grain boundary factor, electron-electron interaction, and Kondo-like spin-dependent scattering mechanisms. Both samples show low-field magnetoresistance (LFMR) at low temperatures. The maximum magnetoresistance values for both samples were observed at 15 K, with values of -23.16% and -25.17% for x = 0.10 and 0.15, respectively.
