Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Job stress is a serious health problem in the 21st century because of its high incidence and impact. Nurses are known as a profession that has high risks of stress, has distinctive characteristics, and hence requires a work stress assessment instrument that suits its peculiarities. The Expanded Nursing Stress Scale (ENSS) is a nurse-specific stress assessment instrument that has high validity and reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.96) and is widely used in many countries but is not yet available in Indonesian. This study aims to obtain the Indonesian version of ENSS and evaluate its reliability and validity. Method: We applied the 10 steps of ISPOR's (International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research) transcultural adaptation method, followed by validity and reliability tests on 104 nurses at a private hospital in Jakarta. Result: The Indonesian version of the ENSS questionnaire, consisting of 57 items, was obtained. All of the items were valid, with r values ranging from 0.362 to 0.793. Cronbach's alpha was 0.956, and the reliability test value using test-retest was 0.939. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the ENSS has proven to be valid and reliable and has excellent internal consistency. The instrument can be used to assess job stress among Indonesian nurses. Abstract

Background: In 2022, the Indonesian Occupational Medicine Association (IOMA) collaborated with oil and gas companies and conducted a web-based seminar (webinar) to enable participants to recognize occupational disease earlier and enhance reporting in companies. We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the webinar in increasing the intended knowledge. Method: The webinar was separated into three batches, with different participants per batch. Using a one-group pretest-posttest design, we utilized secondary data from IOMA. The effectiveness of the webinar was determined by participants' satisfaction and knowledge as measured by pre-test and post-test. After performing item analysis, we removed poor discriminating items in pre-test and post-test ( Results: Data was gathered from 147 subjects (23.8%, 34%, and 42.2% of the three batches, respectively). Except for company status in the second batch (P = 0.045), there was no significant difference in initial knowledge based on the individual factors studied. Significant knowledge improvement was observed post-webinar in each batch compared to the initial. (P < 0.05). The correlation between satisfaction and post-test scores was negligible (r < 0.3; P > 0.05). Conclusion: The initial knowledge of oil and gas company workers in early detection and reporting of OD was low (

Abstract

Background: Lengthy therapeutic regimens in leprosy are prone to defaults, contributing to more antibiotic-resistant Mycobacterium. Intervening patients’ medical habits midway would be more complicated than understanding their perception of undergoing such regimens in advance. We study the factors considered relevant to leprosy patients’ compliance to construct a novel self-reporting questionnaire that can predict the patients’ adherence before initiating multidrug therapy. Methods: According to the Delphi methods, we conducted three rounds of interviews with twenty-three respondents from various backgrounds, including dermatologists, government officials, healthcare workers, and patients with leprosy, to infer the associated factors of the included items. Each item was scored using the Likert scale, and accepted items (scores above 75%) were classified into six-dimensional categories based on the health belief model theory. Result: The initial 236 items were simplified to 72 items. Then, a panel discussion was conducted to score each item. Finally, 48 items were accepted and categorized into 12 indicators from 6 dimensions. The 12 indicators encompass knowledge about leprosy, its severity, therapeutical options, stigma, challenges in the treatment maintenance, availability of medical facilities and workers, therapeutic impact, drug regulation, health personnel, personal beliefs, attitude, and motivation. (p Conclusion: The study identified 12 critical factors influencing adherence to leprosy treatment, contributing to the prevention of antibiotic-resistant mycobacterium and providing valuable insights through the predictive self-reporting questionnaire.

Abstract

Introduction: Among the many risk factors for stress in the workplace, bullying is a factor that is rarely discussed. As many as 19% of people in America experience bullying at work, followed by other European countries. Bullying is a strong link to worker stress, especially in blue-collar workers. Gender differences, especially in women, also have an important prevalence in workplace bullying. In Indonesia itself, there is no data regarding bullying in the workplace, especially among women and blue-collar workers. Objective: This study aims to find the relationship between bullying and stress in the workplace among female blue-collar workers. Method: This research is a cross-sectional analytical study using a negative act questionnaire-revised (NAQ-R) questionnaire on work stress in female blue collar workers in garment factories, in Bekasi city, Indonesia. Job stress assessment uses the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10) questionnaire. Other variables assessed are age, salary, marital status, and subjective questions related to workload and work communication. Results: A total of 379 female blue collar workers in garment factories, in the city of Bekasi, Indonesia took part in this research. Workplace bullying is associated with job stress in female blue-collar workers. Workers who are often bullied tend to have medium-high levels of work stress. Bullying is the type of bullying with the highest scale. Conclusion: Workplace bullying is the factor that has the most influence on work stress in female blue-collar workers. Then, high workloads, poor communication, and lower salaries are related to bullying and stress in the workplace.

Abstract

Introduction. Dolutegravir (DTG) is one of the effective antiretroviral therapies (ART) for suppressing HIV replication and has a favorable safety profile. However, reports regarding neuropsychiatric side effects, especially in patients transitioning from a nevirapine (NVP) regimen to dolutegravir, have started to emerge. This study aimed to describe the changes in neuropsychiatric symptoms before and after the transition from a NVP-based ARV regimen to DTG in HIV patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta. Methods. This study employed a prospective cohort design involving 292 HIV patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital who were transitioning from NVP to DTG regimen. Participants were monitored for six months, and neuropsychiatric symptoms were assessed using a modified HIV symptom index (mHSI). Data collection was conducted at the beginning of the transition (baseline) and during follow-up through interviews regarding HIV-related symptoms and ART. Results. At the start of the study, 70.2% of participants reported at least one neuropsychiatric symptom, which increased to 80.1% after 6 months of transitioning to TLD. The most commonly reported symptoms were insomnia, headaches, and anxiety, with women reporting more symptoms than men. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in symptoms of sadness, headaches, and irritability (p < 0.01) after the transition to dtg. Conclusions. Although DTG shows good viral suppression capabilities, significant neuropsychiatric side effects still arose, especially in patients with a history of mental disorders. Close monitoring of neuropsychiatric symptoms and adjustments to the ART regimen need to be carried out to improve the quality of life for HIV patients undergoing DTG therapy.
