Abstract

This study aims to critically examine Amina Wadud’s interpretation methodology of Q.S. An-Nisa’ [4]:11 and compare it with the classical exegesis of Al-Tabari and the contemporary approach of Quraish Shihab. The research focuses on an epistemological and methodological analysis to explore how differences in interpretative paradigms narrative-based, rational, and feminist affect the understanding of the inheritance verse. The study employs a descriptive-comparative method using qualitative library research. The results show that Al-Tabari interprets the verse through the riwayah-based and juristic consensus approach, emphasizing proportional justice according to Islamic law, while Quraish Shihab applies a contextual-rational method while maintaining textual norms. In contrast, Amina Wadud interprets the verse from a gender justice perspective, rejecting literal readings in favor of social equality. The methodological critique highlights that Wadud’s hermeneutic-contemporary approach tends to over-contextualize the text, potentially shifting the normative meaning of the Qur’an.

Abstract

Parenting is an important factor that influences the development of children's potential and achievement. This study aims to analyze the impact of strict parenting on children's potential and achievement and compare it with the parenting principles taught in QS. Luqman [31]: 13, 16-19. This study uses a mixed methods approach with a qualitative dominant supported by descriptive quantitative data. The results show that strict parenting tends to have a negative impact on the development of children's potential. These impacts include low self-confidence, limitations in social skills, high psychological pressure, and obstacles in developing children's interests and talents. In contrast, Luqman's parenting principles based on dialogue, compassion and wise direction offer a more balanced and positive approach, which not only supports children's optimal growth but also strengthens moral and spiritual values that are important for building children's character. This study recommends parents to implement a more dialogic and loving parenting style and provide space for children to make decisions and develop their potential. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for families in developing more effective parenting based on Islamic values. Pola asuh orangtua merupakan faktor penting yang memengaruhi perkembangan potensi dan prestasi anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak pola asuh strict parenting terhadap potensi dan prestasi anak serta membandingkannya dengan prinsip pengasuhan yang diajarkan dalam QS. Luqman [31]: 13, 16-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan campuran (mixed methods) dengan dominan kualitatif yang didukung oleh data kuantitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strict parenting cenderung memberikan dampak negatif terhadap pengembangan potensi anak. Dampak tersebut meliputi rendahnya rasa percaya diri, keterbatasan dalam keterampilan sosial, tekanan psikologis yang tinggi, serta hambatan dalam pengembangan minat dan bakat anak. Sebaliknya, prinsip pengasuhan Luqman yang berbasis dialog, kasih sayang, dan arahan bijaksana menawarkan pendekatan yang lebih seimbang dan positif, yang tidak hanya mendukung pertumbuhan anak secara optimal tetapi juga memperkuat nilai-nilai akhlak dan spiritual yang penting untuk membangun karakter anak. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan orangtua untuk menerapkan pola asuh yang lebih dialogis dan penuh kasih sayang serta memberikan ruang bagi anak untuk mengambil keputusan dan mengembangkan potensi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi keluarga dalam mengembangkan pola asuh yang lebih efektif dan berlandaskan nilai-nilai Islam.

Abstract

The phenomenon of childfree, namely the conscious decision not to have offspring, is a contemporary social dynamic that impacts the Islamic family law system, particularly in the area of inheritance. This study aims to analyze how the choice of childfree affects the structure of inheritance rights in Islam and how the maqashid shari’ah approach can be employed to address these changes. Employing normative legal research methods with theological, conceptual, and maqashid shari’ah approaches, the study finds that the absence of descendants due to a childfree decision shifts the inheritance structure to horizontal relatives or the public treasury (Baitul Mal). Instruments such as wills (wasiyyah) and grants (hibah) play a crucial role in regulating the distribution of estates in this context. The study concludes that although childfree alters the traditional family structure, the principles of justice, property protection, and social sustainability can still be upheld within the Islamic legal framework through a maqashid shari’ah-based reinterpretation. Therefore, strengthening legal literacy and adjusting regulations are essential to address this phenomenon fairly and in line with Islamic objectives

Abstract

This study investigates Nasr Ḥāmid Abu Zayd’s interpretation of the Qur’anic story of Prophet Moses through the framework of contextual hermeneutics, against the background of traditional Qur’anic exegesis that predominantly emphasizes the miraculous and transcendental aspects of prophethood and tends to portray prophets as infallible and distant figures. The study aims to analyze how Abu Zayd challenges this paradigm by reinterpreting revelation as a historical discourse shaped by human language, socio-political context, and lived struggle. Employing a qualitative textual analysis, the research examines Abu Zayd’s primary works—Mafhūm al-Naṣṣ (The Concept of Text) and Naqd al-Khiṭāb al-Dīnī (Critique of Religious Discourse)—alongside contemporary academic discussions on humanistic and contextual hermeneutics. The findings show that Abu Zayd depicts Moses not as a mythical hero but as a profoundly human figure who fears, doubts, errs, and grows (Qur’ān 28:15–16), thereby foregrounding prophetic experience as ethically charged human struggle rather than static perfection. Through this lens, the Qur’ān emerges as a living dialogue between the divine and the human that continually generates meaning through historical interaction. The study concludes that Abu Zayd’s hermeneutics redefines prophethood in terms of ethical humanity instead of unattainable divine impeccability and offers a liberating, contextually relevant interpretive model for modern Islamic thought, particularly for rethinking asbāb al-nuzūl, contextual tafsīr, and contemporary engagements with prophetic narratives.

Abstract

This research discusses the preaching of Prophet Musa 'Alaihissalam from the typology of his preaching, both with the rulers in his era, his brothers and he mad'u. So this study examines the views of commentators regarding the Typology of Da'wah of Prophet Musa 'Alaihissalam from the Perspective of the Qur'an. This research is a library research and the methodology used in this research is a thematic study. The data related to this study were collected through literature study and presented with descriptive analysis techniques, namely by explaining the relevant verses, referring to the Qur'an and its interpretations as primary data and related literature books as secondary data. The research that the writer will do is thematic research, so to get objective results, the research steps or data collection that the writer will do refers to the Maudhuiy interpretation research method made by Dr. Abd Al Hayy Al Farmawi. The results of this study show that the Prophet Musa preached with the first type, the type that emphasizes faith. The second type, with the theoretical type. a theocracy is a system of government that upholds and is guided by divine principles. The third type, the patient type. Abstract

This study discusses the interpretation of da'wah wal harakah in the Qur'an, a study of the verses of tabligh and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar. Da'wah harakah is a da'wah movement, this da'wah phenomenon occurs today where this da'wah harakah combines the concepts of thought and movement. This means that the waqi'yyah (realistic) Islamic movement is a sociological and functional Islamic movement. Then harakiyyah (dynamic) Islamic movement has its own stages, and has a fixed goal or method of movement that does not justify all means. So this research examines harakah da'wah according to al-Azhar tafsir. This research is library research. And the methodology used is thematic methodology. The data related to this study were collected through literature studies and presented with descriptive analysis techniques, namely by explaining the verses per verse related, by referring to the Qur'an and tafsir books as primary data and books, journals related literature as secondary data. The results of this study are harakah da'wah by conveying revelations from Allah SWT by eradicating evil among the community, using good sentences so that it can be easily understood.
