Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for the development of a Biology e-module integrated with the values โ€‹โ€‹of Faith and Piety (IMTAQ) for grade XI students of SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study consisted of 33 grade XI students and one Biology teacher. Data were collected through closed questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics percentages for questionnaires and content analysis of the interview results. The results showed that the need for teaching materials (78.48%), the need for the use of e-modules (78.79%), and the integration of IMTAQ values โ€‹โ€‹(79.09%) were in the need category, while the student expectation indicator obtained the highest percentage of 82.88% with the very need category. These findings indicate that the development of an IMTAQ-integrated Biology e-module is urgently needed as an innovative learning medium to increase learning motivation, independence and the formation of students' religious character.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness and practicality of a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-integrated e-module for Biology learning on ecosystem material in secondary schools. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group design involving 88 tenth-grade students at SMAN 2 Pekanbaru. The sample consisted of an experimental class that used the STEM-integrated e-module through Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and a control class that used a conventional module through the same learning model. Data were collected using a learning outcomes test and teacher and student response questionnaires. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, the Mann-Whitney U test, N-Gain analysis, and effect size analysis. The results showed no statistically significant difference in pretest scores between the experimental and control classes (p = 0.216), whereas a statistically significant difference was found in posttest scores (p < 0.001). The experimental class obtained a higher N-Gain value (0.564) than the control class (0.334), although both were categorized as moderate. The effect size (r = 0.39) indicated a moderate magnitude of difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. Regarding practicality, the e-module obtained average scores of 86% based on teacher responses and 88% based on student responses, both of which were categorized as very practical. These findings suggest that the STEM-integrated e-module can serve as an alternative digital teaching material for ecosystem learning when implemented through PjBL.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of teachers and students regarding the development of IMTAQ-based e-modules in Biology learning at SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru. This study used a mixed methods method with a sequential exploratory design, which began with qualitative data collection through interviews and observations, then continued with quantitative data collection using questionnaires. The research subjects included one Biology teacher and 30 grade XI students. The interview results showed that teachers needed systematic, interactive, and integrated IMTAQ value teaching materials because the learning media used did not fully support the strengthening of spiritual aspects. The results of the student questionnaire showed that all need indicators were in the needed category, including the need for interactive teaching materials (73%), integration of IMTAQ values (69%), student readiness to use digital e-modules (79%), and expectations for IMTAQ-based e-modules (80%). The results of this study indicate that IMTAQ-based e-modules are very relevant to be developed as Biology learning media that support conceptual understanding while fostering students' character values.
