Abstract

This research aims to analyze how the national media's narrative concerning Kampung Adat Cirendeu influences the identity of the local community. Kampung Adat Cirendeu, situated in Cimahi City, West Java, is a traditional village that strives to preserve its customs and local wisdom amidst the pressures of modernization. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a framing analysis method, this study reveals that the media plays a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of indigenous identities through its framing of news coverage. The findings indicate that the media significantly impacts how the identity of the Cirendeu community is perceived by selectively highlighting specific aspects of their lives, such as their customs, cultural practices, and the challenges they face. The presentation of news by the media often emphasizes certain elements while downplaying others, thereby influencing public understanding and attitudes towards the traditional village. This study underscores the importance of media narratives in the construction of cultural identity and suggests that further research could explore the implications of media representation on indigenous communities' social and cultural dynamics.

Abstract

This paper delves into the phenomenon of imagine and plotting among K-Pop roleplayer couples on the social media platform X, interpreting these practices as a form of visualizing cyberlove and cybersex. Through a descriptive qualitative approach grounded in the phenomenological method, this research shows how these activities emerge and unfold as key elements of interaction within the roleplaying community. Imagine and plotting are examined as virtual expressions that replace physical body language, offering couples an avenue to communicate intimacy and emotional depth. These practices highlight the creativity and flexibility inherent in the virtual domain, where participants construct immersive and dynamic scenarios tailored to their preferences and consent. This paper also uncovers the diverse relationship dynamics within this space, noting how roleplayer couples navigate dominance, responsiveness, and emotional reciprocity in their interactions. Furthermore, imagine and plotting are shown to possess the potential to transcend the digital realm, enabling relationships formed virtually to evolve into meaningful real-life connections. This paper positions these practices as not merely recreational but as profound mediums of self-expression and relational development, reflecting the interplay between virtual creativity and emotional authenticity in shaping modern romantic experiences.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing how a documentary film can be used as an educational and advocacy tool for the community regarding the impact of development policies on environmental aspects. This study focuses on a documentary film entitled "LautAntropogenik" which raises the issue of coral reef damage on Pramuka Island, Seribu Islands Regency, DKI Jakarta Province. The damage caused by anthropogenic, especially the construction of breakwaters, is strongly visualized to clarify the impact of damage that is difficult to explain if only through written data. This study was conducted using qualitative methods and a descriptive approach implemented through data collection techniques through field observations and interviews. The results of the study revealed that documentary films have a significant role when used as educational materials. Several elements in the film such as stories of community experiences, visualization of environmental impacts, interviews with expert sources, visual statistical data, and the use of music or sound effects can help the community understand the issues being presented. However, to get more effective results, documentary films in their production need to improve the quality of production both in terms of technical production and the content of the story being presented. This study also recommends efforts to distribute films massively through platforms digital, film festivals and programs in formal education. With the right strategy, documentary films have great potential to become an effective media to encourage public awareness and behavioral change in responding to the impacts of development that damage the environment.

Abstract

This final project is entitled “Application of Participatory Narration in the Scriptwriting of the Video Documentary “Dari Rasi Jadi Mimpi: Langkah Menjaga Tradisi””. This work aims to apply a participatory narrative approach in the scriptwriting of a documentary video documentary that represents the efforts of the Kampung Adat Cireundeu community in preserving the Sunda Wiwitan tradition, particularly through the cultural practice of rasi as a symbol of identity and food self-sufficiency. The creation method employs a qualitative approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participatory narrative positions the indigenous community as the primary subject of the storytelling process, with the narrative constructed from the participants’ lived experiences and perspectives. The narrative structure is organized into three stages—introduction, development, and conclusion—to ensure coherence while maintaining the authenticity of the participants’ voices. The results indicate that the participatory narrative approach enhances the representation of social and cultural realities and fosters stronger audience engagement. However, this work also identifies limitations, including the dominance of certain informants, tension between expository and participatory narrative modes, and editorial compromises during the editing process. Despite these limitations, the participatory narrative approach remains relevant for documentary scriptwriting that emphasizes subject participation and the preservation of local cultural values.

Abstract

This study examines the strategy of writing an expository narrative using a reflective approach in the production of the documentary film "2000 Untuk Parkir: Fenomena Juru Parkir Liar di Jatinangor" Using descriptive qualitative methods through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and data triangulation, this 15-minute film presents a three-act plot that integrates empirical facts (such as a daily income of Rp50,000 from a Rp2,000 per vehicle rate) with the filmmaker's critical reflections on the dynamics of the informal economy and urbanization in educational areas. Results of an effectiveness test on 20 student respondents showed an 85% comprehension rate and a 90% increase in critical awareness, demonstrating the superiority of this hybrid approach in building empathy without excessive subjectivity. The discussion confirms the strategy's contribution to the discourse of Indonesian documentary production, with implications for advocacy for inclusive parking policies.

Abstract

This study analyzes the cinematography strategies in determining creative visuals in the documentary film "2000 for Parking: The Phenomenon of Illegal Parking Attendants in Jatinangor," which documents the practice of illegal parking for Rp2,000-Rp5,000 in the Sumedang educational area as a social critique of the weak supervision of public spaces. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with frame-by-frame content analysis based on Joseph V. Mascelli's 5Cs theory and Bill Nichols' expository mode, the results demonstrate the dominance of eye-level angles (65%), low-key natural lighting (70%), handheld shaky camera (40%), and match cuts to build empathy, urgency, and a persuasive three-act narrative about the phenomenon of urban poverty. This visual strategy represents a power imbalance through low angles and rack focus, resulting in a 40% increase in audience awareness based on test screenings. Budget limitations are overcome through authentic improvisation that distinguishes the film from conventional Indonesian documentaries. The study concludes that cinematography is an effective visual storyteller for social advocacy, suggesting the integration of VR and AI-assisted techniques for future productions.

Abstract

The development of the 2D animation entitled ”Seduhan Terakhir di Ambang Rimba” aims to serve as an environmental literacy medium to raise awareness of deforestation issues in Tesso Nilo National Park (TNTN), Riau. This animation adopts a magical realism directing strategy by utilizing symbolism and allegory, with the character Nilo, a Sumatran elephant, serving as an emotional representation of wildlife victims of deforestation. The work seeks to engage audiences through visual storytelling that prioritizes visual expression over explanatory narration. By employing motion comic techniques, parallax layering, and a contrasting color palette, the animation creates a profound atmosphere and evokes empathy toward the ecosystem damage occurring in Tesso Nilo. An eco-cinema approach is also applied, in which nature and wildlife function not merely as background elements but as primary subjects that shape the narrative and conflict. This study demonstrates that 2D animation can be an effective tool for conveying environmental literacy messages, fostering ecological awareness, and encouraging changes in attitudes toward the deforestation crisis. The resulting work is expected to contribute to the development of animation-based environmental literacy media and to offer a new perspective on conveying ecological issues in an emotional and impactful manner. This research also opens opportunities for further studies on the influence of animation on public behavior in supporting environmental conservation.

Abstract

The implementation of transmedia storytelling in the visual prose book "Seduhan Terakhir di Ambang Rimba" represents an effort to construct a profound and emotional medium for environmental literacy. Designed as a narrative extension of the two-dimensional animation of the same title, this book aims to enrich the audience's experience regarding deforestation in Tesso Nilo National Park, Indonesia. The narrative highlights the inner monologue of Nilo, a Sumatran elephant acting as both a witness and a victim of forest destruction, utilizing a reflective and introspective approach. The book employs digital illustrations with a watercolor style and a dominant earth-tone palette to establish a melancholic atmosphere, depicting the isolation and loss experienced by the protagonist. Through a transmedia storytelling approach, this book does not merely retell the story presented in the animation but offers a new, deeply emotional narrative layer, providing space for the audience to contemplate the environmental issues raised. Ultimately, this book aims to deliver a more personal experience, evoking the audience's empathy toward the ecological impact of environmental degradation and strengthening their awareness of the importance of nature conservation.
