Abstract

Elementary School 10 Timpeh is one of the schools in the 3T area in Sungai Bulian, Timpeh District, Dharmasraya Regency, with a distance of 197 km from Padang City. SDN 10 Timpeh has a School Health Unit (SHU) but has been inactive, and the room has been converted into a warehouse. This activity aims to reactivate and optimize SHU functions at SDN 10 Timpeh. The first method was carried out through training activities for ten students who were selected to become cadres of little doctors from classes 3,4, and 5. The second method was done with lectures, discussions about clean and healthy behaviour for all students. The strengthening of the theory is also accompanied by stimulation of the affective and psycho-motor domains of students through the exercise of using soap and running water, giving students fruit and milk, as well as the practice of handling students who move to school by a cadre of little doctors who have been previously selected. Evaluation of this program is done through pre-test and post-test. After training and coaching, there was a significant increase in students' knowledge of the little doctor's subject matter by 10 points, and the Wilcoxon test results showed an increase in student knowledge. The students of SDN 10 Timpeh were enthusiastic about this activity. The advocacy management results were strengthened by the issuance of a headmaster decree on the control of the SHU and the appointment of a supervisor of the SHU as well as an explanation of his job description. It is expected that the Public Health Centre, Schools, and coaches will continue to carry out these SHU activities on a scheduled and periodic evaluation.

Abstract

Most (77%) urban villages in Padang City still have positive cases of COVID-19 and the most are in Koto Tangah District. Prevention and mitigation measures are the key to implementation in health services. During the pandemic, the Public Health Care (PHC) continued to provide services to pregnant, childbirth and postpartum mothers. However, the transmission of COVID-19 to medical personnel and paramedics is getting higher in Indonesia, until July 2020 there were 1.2% of cases. For this reason, it is necessary to ensure that transmission prevention measures are carried out properly. The purpose of this activity is to socialize the “Delivery Chamber” to health workers at the PHC and the Midwives Independent Practice in Koto Tangah District. The method used in this activity is socialization. The outreach activities began with the construction of “Delivery Chamber” and giving them to several PHC and a midwife's independent practice site as a pilot for other health service centers. In addition, there is also a tutorial for making a Delivery Chamber which will be uploaded to Youtube as a virtual socialization medium. According to Aulia, video tutorials on Youtube have an influence on behavior and level of knowledge. The results of this activity were the delivery of Delivery Chamber to the Lubuk Buaya PHC, Anak Air PHC, Air Dingin PHC and Midwife Mariani. It is hoped that health service managers who provide childbirth services during the Covid-19 pandemic to provide a Delivery Chamber and follow the procedures for its use.

Abstract

In some areas in Padang City, we still often hear parents who have toddlers taking their children to a traditional birth attendant for a massage for various reasons. In addition, the baby's mother does not yet have independent skills in doing massage to babies. Baby massage is a tactile stimulation that has physiological effects in the body. Baby massage can also cause the baby's interaction with the mother to be more positive, the baby to be calmer and his sleep patterns to be more regular. Serunai Posyandu is one of the posyandu that has never received education about baby massage. The purpose of this service is to introduce proper baby massage to mothers who have babies at the Posyandu Serunai, so it is hoped that mothers can apply good and correct baby massage at home to stimulate baby growth and development. The method used in this activity is counseling and demonstration of baby massage. Before the activity begins, an initial survey is carried out, then the implementation of the activity is carried out with counseling, and demonstration of the correct way of baby massage. Finally, monitoring evaluation is carried out, seen from the frequency of implementation of independent baby massage by mothers at their respective homes for one month after the demonstration using a checklist sheet. The results of this activity were from 11 mothers of babies, 100% of mothers did independent baby massage at home, and 36.4% of mothers routinely did independent baby massage for one month, 28.5% of infants experienced weight gain of 0.3-0.5 kg . Abstract

The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey data shows that the 15-19 age group accounts for the highest percentage of smokers (56.5%), followed by the 10-14 age group (18.4%). This data indicates that children are among the groups with a significant likelihood of becoming a generation of smokers. Lack of understanding of children regarding the dangers of cigarettes, widespread exposure to cigarette advertisements in various media, easy access to cigarettes without age restrictions, and the influence of the social environment have a significant influence on children to smoke. Providing education on the dangers of cigarettes needs to be done from childhood to reduce the number of beginner smokers. This activity aims to increase students' knowledge and awareness of the dangers of cigarettes so that it can prevent and reduce the number of cigarettes in children. This activity occurred at SDN 32 Andalas, Padang City, targeting all 53 students in grades 5 and 6. The methods used were counseling, distribution of leaflets, and installation of posters about the dangers of cigarettes. After the activity was carried out, there was an increase in the average value of students' knowledge level, from 6.25 in the pre-test to 7.58 in the post-test, with a p-value of 0.001 (<0.005). So, it can be concluded that the education that was carried out successfully increased students' knowledge regarding the dangers of cigarettes. Thus, it is hoped that students will be aware of the dangers of cigarettes and will be motivated not to smoke. It is also extended to SDN 32 Andalas to continue educating students not to smoke, implementing a smoke-free area, and strictly supervising students who smoke.

Abstract

Bullying can occur at all educational levels and in social settings, with 75.9% of adolescents having experienced it. This study aims to identify factors related to bullying behavior among students at SMPN 24 and SMP Muhammadiyah 5 in Padang City in 2025. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, 266 students were sampled from a population of 790 through proportionate random sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test from October 2024 to April 2025. Results showed that 54.1% of students had a high level of bullying behavior. Contributing factors included negative attitudes (p=0.000), poor school environment (p=0.000), low peer support (p=0.020), and strong influence of social media (p=0.000). As bullying levels are high, it is recommended that schools implement monthly education programs addressing the causes, impacts, and prevention of bullying to raise awareness among students and teachers and discourage the normalization of such behavior
