Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to increase interest and achievement of learning mathematics using Advance Organizer model. This research was conducted in two cycles with 4 meetings in each cycle. Subjects in the study consisted of 28 students, 17 male students and 11 female students of grade IX SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Data collection techniques used are test techniques for achievement tests and non-test techniques for interest questionnaires and observation sheets. The result of the research is the interest of learning mathematics of students in cycle I was 64,29% which is in good category and very good and in cycle II student learning interest increased to 78,58% which is in good category and very good. Student learning achievement in pre cycle with the value above 61 was 35,71% complete. In the first cycle student achievement increased by 53.57% of students value above 61 and on the second cycle student achievement increased to78.57% of students who reached Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). Based on the result, it can be concluded that Advance Organizer model can increase interest and achievement of mathematics learning of grade IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Merauke.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to increase interest and achievement in learning mathematics through the application of an approach Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This research has been conducted in two cycles with each cycle there are 4 meetings. The subjects in the study consisted of 20 students, namely 9 male students and 11 female students in grade VII SMP in Merauke. Data collection techniques used are test techniques for achievement data and non-test techniques for interest data. The results obtained are that students' interest in learning mathematics in the first cycle is 65% or 13 students are in the good or very good category and in the second cycle the student's interest is increased to 85% or 17 students are in the good or very good category. Student achievement in the first cycle who scored above or equal to 65 is 55% or 11 students who completed and in the second cycle student achievement increased by 80% or 16 students have reached the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). Based on these results it can be said that the learning model of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) can increase the interest and learning achievement of class VII

Abstract

[English]: Visuospatial reasoning is indispensable in solving mathematical problems, especially geometry. However, many students face difficulty in visuospatial reasoning. This qualitative study aims to describe eighth-grade students' visuospatial reasoning in solving geometry problems in terms of gender differences. One male and one female student with high mathematics ability were involved. A test and interview were utilized to collect data. The test was used to investigate students' visuospatial reasoning and the interview was administered to confirm students' reasoning. Students’ test and interview results were analyzed in three stages: data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. This study found that both male and female students' visuospatial reasoning in solving the problems is at the synthesis level. However, at the synthesis level, when identifying the spatial relationships between objects, the male student expresses information from the overall view scheme, while the female student expresses part by part of the view scheme. Keywords: Visuospatial reasoning, Geometry problems, Gender [Bahasa]: Penalaran visuospasial sangat diperlukan dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika terutama pada masalah geometri. Namun, banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukan penalaran visuospasial. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penalaran visuospasial siswa kelas VIII yang ditinjau dari perbedaan gender dalam menyelesaikan masalah geometri. Satu siswa laki-laki dan satu siswa perempuan dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi dipilih sebagai subjek. Tes dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Tes digunakan untuk menyelidiki penalaran visuospatial siswa dan wawancara bertujuan mengonfirmasi dan menggali lebih dalam penalaran siswa. Data hasil tes dan wawancara dianalisis dalam tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan dan verifikasi simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penalaran visuospasial siswa laki-laki dan perempuan dalam menyelesaikan masalah geometri berada pada jenjang sintesis. Namun, terdapat perbedaan pada jenjang sintesis dalam mengidentifikasi keterkaitan spasial antar objek-objek. Siswa laki-laki mengutarakan informasi dari skema pandangan secara menyeluruh, sedangkan siswa perempuan mengutarakan bagian per bagian dari skema pandangan tersebut. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan hasil belajar matematika peserta didik kelas XII-IPA SMA YPPK Yoanes XXIII Merauke pada materi Dimensi Tiga dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Subyek penelitian adalah peserta didik  kelas XII IPA yang berjumlah 32 orang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari 2 kali pertemuan pada siklus 1 dan 2 kali pertemuan pada siklus 2. Pengumpulan data melalui observasi guru dan peserta didik dan pemberian tes di akhir siklus. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik sebesar 52,16 pada siklus 1 dan 87,5 pada siklus 2. Ketuntasan klasikal hasil belajar mencapai 31,25% pada siklus 1 dan 88% pada siklus 2. Dan hasil partisipan peserta didik pada siklus 1 sampai dengan siklus 2 mengalami peningkatan dari cukup tinggi menjadi sangat tinggi. Disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan menggunakan media Youtube dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika peserta didik kelas XII-IPA SMA YPPK Yoanes XXIII Merauke.
