Abstract

The ontological and epistemological transformations which occurred in the digital media ecosystem have created a communication disruption which reduces objective truth to a hyperreality commodity through its philosophical assessment. The study seeks to dismantle post-truth communication ethics problems while building an Islamic broadcasting system according to ethical principles. The study employs library research methods to examine philosophical texts and communication ethics using a philosophical hermeneutic methodology. Current digital communication systems operate as simulacra because users cannot distinguish between actual existence and virtual creation which leads to an ethical void that follows algorithmic patterns and constant online connections. Islamic broadcasting which depends on the values of liberation and truth (al-haqq) encounters major difficulties when prophetic messages transform into public entertainment. The study presents a new framework for communication ethics which combines tabayyun epistemological knowledge with discourse ethics to counteract common information practices. Islamic communication ethics serve two purposes established through their role as moral behavior guidelines and their function as a system which helps individuals restore their dignity when they experience technological disconnection

Abstract

Modern communication today exists in a highly controlled setting which combines algorithm-driven content delivery with artificial media and the rise of post-truth falsehoods. Digital simulacra enable people to confuse actual existence with virtual existence which results in false information and knowledge division and public trust erosion. This study examines how the post-truth era creates an ethical crisis for communication through Jean Baudrillard's simulacra theory while Islamic moral philosophy serves as an alternative ethical system. The study uses qualitative library research methods to examine current research articles and philosophical works and academic texts that focus on digital communication and post-truth cultural practices and communication ethics and Islamic knowledge systems. Digital simulacra and algorithm-based communication systems create hyperreality but they also disrupt established truth standards and traditional ethical systems. Islamic moral philosophy provides a complete normative system through its fundamental concepts of al-haqq (truth) and shiddiq (truthfulness) and amanah (trustworthiness) and tabayyun (verification) and prophetic communication ethics and Qur’anic principles of al-qaulan. These principles provide ethical guidance for strengthening information integrity, promoting responsible digital citizenship, and cultivating an akhlak based digital ecosystem. The study introduces Digital Prophetic Communication Ethics as a reconstructive framework which helps solve the ethical and epistemological issues arising from present-day digital communication.

Abstract

This study examines the ethical crisis of hyperconnectivity and its implications for spiritual alienation within contemporary cyberspace. It argues that digital platforms are not neutral communication channels, but socio-technical environments shaped by algorithms, visibility, speed, and symbolic power. Through a qualitative library research design, this article analyzes recent national and international scholarship on digital ethics, Islamic epistemology, cyberculture, intrapersonal communication, and spiritual well-being. The study employs reflexive content analysis, critical discourse analysis, and philosophical hermeneutics to interpret the relationship between digital overload, post-truth communication, and the weakening of the qalb. The findings indicate that hyperconnectivity produces cognitive fragmentation, dependence on external validation, and a reduction of reflective practices such as tafakkur, muhasabah, and dhikr. To address this crisis, the article reconstructs Islamic communication ethics through the integrated lenses of Bayani, Burhani, and Irfani epistemology. Bayani ethics strengthens verification and truthful speech; Burhani ethics cultivates critical algorithmic literacy; and Irfani ethics protects spiritual intention and self-discipline. The study proposes a Theocentric-Anthropocentric model of cyberspace ethics, positioning digital interaction as a moral responsibility before God, the self, and society. This framework offers a spiritually grounded alternative to secular digital ethics by prioritizing truth, dignity, wisdom, and public benefit in online life today.

Abstract

This study examines the ethical and regulatory challenges of hyperconnected digital media by integrating critical media theory with Islamic communication ethics. Using a critical textual-library methodology, the research analyzes scholarly literature, regulatory documents, digital policy texts, and Islamic normative sources related to algorithmic governance, post-truth communication, and public accountability. The findings show that traditional broadcasting regulation is increasingly inadequate because digital communication is now shaped by global platforms, OTT services, recommender systems, and algorithmic visibility. The study also finds that hyperreality and post-truth dynamics intensify ethical crises by allowing emotionally charged, divisive, and misleading content to gain influence through engagement-based amplification. In response, this article argues that Islamic principles such as tabayyun, qaulan sadida, amanah, and maslahah can provide a normative foundation for digital policy. The study proposes an ethical co-regulation model based on state oversight, civil society participation, platform transparency, algorithmic auditing, and freedom-of-expression safeguards to protect the digital public sphere. Its main contribution is a hybrid regulatory framework that links technological accountability with moral-spiritual responsibility in Islamic broadcasting

Abstract

This study examines the hegemony of falsehood in synthetic media and the limitations of conventional communication regulation in the age of generative artificial intelligence. Using a critical library-based method, the research synthesizes recent national and international literature, regulatory documents, and platform policy texts to analyze deepfakes, AI-generated disinformation, and post-facto legal responses. The findings show that synthetic media transforms falsehood from a representational distortion into an algorithmically produced reality that is scalable, personalized, and difficult to verify. Indonesia’s current cyber-regulatory framework, including the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, remains largely reactive because it intervenes after harmful content has circulated. This creates epistemological and legal gaps involving velocity, accountability, intent, and platform responsibility. The study proposes Ethics by Design as a future communication policy paradigm that embeds transparency, traceability, algorithmic accountability, privacy protection, and human oversight into system architecture. It concludes that effective synthetic media governance requires shifting from Lex Scripta to Lex Informatica through co-regulation among the state, industry, academics, and civil society.

Abstract

The rapid growth of synthetic media, deepfakes, generative artificial intelligence, and transnational platform algorithms has produced a crisis of digital authenticity, where public communication is increasingly shaped by opaque systems that blur truth, manipulation, and fabrication. This study formulates Algorithmic Tabayyun as a normative framework for Islamic communication ethics and transnational media governance. Using qualitative library research, critical discourse analysis, and thematic Qur’anic interpretation, it examines synthetic media, algorithmic accountability, platform regulation, and Maqasid Sharia. The findings show that secular regulatory models remain limited because they frame digital harm as technical, administrative, or post-facto legal problems, while overlooking moral responsibility, human dignity, public reason, and corporate intention behind engagement-driven algorithms. Algorithmic Tabayyun expands Qur’anic information verification from individual ethics into institutional mechanisms requiring source validation, algorithmic transparency, bias detection, and social impact assessment. By integrating Maqasid Sharia, it protects reason, religion, dignity, privacy, and wealth from misinformation, hate speech, reputational harm, and surveillance capitalism across national, regional, and global regulatory contexts today. These reforms strengthen accountability within contemporary digital societies

Abstract

This study examines how digital hyperreality and post-truth culture reshape Islamic communication and broadcasting in contemporary cyberspace. It argues that digital da’wah is no longer only a shift from physical pulpits to online platforms, but a structural transformation of religious meaning, authority, and public reasoning. Using a qualitative library-based design, the research analyzes recent scholarly works on digital da’wah, religious influencers, epistemic authority, Islamic communication ethics, platform governance, and communication regulation. The study applies qualitative content analysis and critical discourse interpretation to identify how algorithmic visibility, audience engagement, symbolic performance, and misinformation influence Islamic messages in digital public spaces. The findings show that digital da’wah may expand access to religious knowledge, yet it also risks commodifying piety, weakening scholarly authority, and reducing complex Islamic teachings into emotional and fragmented content. To address this crisis, Islamic communication philosophy offers ethical principles such as qaulan sadida, qaulan baligha, tabayyun, and amanah as foundations for truthful and responsible communication. The study proposes that future Islamic communication policy must combine digital literacy, epistemic accountability, algorithmic transparency, and ethical co-regulation to protect truth, dignity, public trust, and religious authority in the post-truth era. It strengthens Islamic broadcasting studies by linking ethics, regulation, and platform accountability.
