Abstract

Many of the global mass media tend to deliver a particular news frame in a terrorism case, especially linkage terrorism with certain religions, races, at so on. The global mass media is influenced by Western media. The news frame will be different from the news agency level. This article aims to discuss news frame by the national news agencies in New Zealand (TVNZ) and Sri Lanka (news. lk) in a terrorism case, using the Robert N. Entman frame model. The result shows TVNZ defines the problem as an unprecedented action and creates a dark history in the country, the cause of the problem is terrorists from outside New Zealand, moral judgments in the form of evidence that New Zealand society remains united, the victims are also part of the New Zealand family regardless of their background, so the recommended resolution of the problem is that the government guarantees the safety of Muslim communities. Differently, news.lk defines the problem as the motive of the attack as revenge with religious sentiment. Meanwhile, the security forces are not aware of the threat, that define the cause of the problem as the perpetrator is an organized group and an indication of religious sentiment. This media makes moral judgments by revealing the fact that Muslims not guilty, the government facilitates representatives of the religious community in Sri Lanka to express their opinions to find solutions for reconciliation and maintaining peace. The recommended resolution is that the government is ready to fight terrorism without foreign intervention, improve the performance of the security forces, and reveal the active role of the different Sri Lankan people's ethnicity and religion.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguraikan perubahan pola kerja jurnalistik di Indonesia pasca COVID-19 dan implikasinya pada kualitas berita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan ekonomi politik dalam menggali relasi antara jurnalis, media dan pemerintah, sebagai kontribusi akademik lebih lanjut dari studi-studi terdahulu yang hanya berpusat pada budaya jurnalistik pasca COVID-19. Teknik pengumpulan data terdiri dari wawancara mendalam, observasi konten portal berita dan pengumpulan dokumen terkait kinerja media jurnalistik pasca pandemi COVID-19 di Jakarta dan Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan terjadinya perubahan pola kerja yang signifikan pada jurnalis dalam melakukan liputan jurnalistik sebelum dan sesudah COVID-19. Model komunikasi berbasis daring antara jurnalis dengan sumber berita dan pengumpulan dokumen berbasis daring membuat kualitas berita menurun, melahirkan berita yang seragam yang menunjang propaganda stabilitas ekonomi dan politik pemerintah. Pemerintah adalah narasumber dominan dan menjadi pihak yang paling diuntungkan ketimbang publik. Memasuki era normal baru di Indonesia, studi ini merekomendasikan perlunya suatu regulasi yang memperkuat independensi redaksional dan kualitas jurnalistik pada kegiatan liputan bencana serupa.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berbemtuk pelatihan pengelolaan media sosial dan foto produk bagi Kelompok Informasi Masyarakat (KIM) Kabupaten Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Pertimbangan memilih KIM Kabupaten Bantul karena Dinas Komunikasi dan Informatika (Diskominfo) Kabupaten Bantul sebagai lembaga yang membawahi KIM memberikan fasilitasi Wifi publik yang dapat digunakan oleh KIM untuk beraktivitas. Hal ini menunjukkan keseriusan dalam mengembangakn KIM. Berdasarkan penjelasan dari Diskominfo Kabupaten Bantul, target yang diberikan terhadap KIM Bantul adalah memiliki media sosial yang berguna untuk mempublikasikan potensi lokal dan masuk ke dalam marketplace atau lokapasar. Pelatihan berisi cara berpromosi melalui media sosial, mengelola lokapasar, dan pelatihan foto produk yang akan dipasarkan. Metode pengabdian adalah pemberian materi, penugasan bagi peserta pelatihan berupa pembuatan akun media sosial untuk promosi, foto produk, dan pembuatan akun loka pasar untuk pemasaran, serta evaluasi dari hasil penugasan. Rangkaian kegiatan berlangsung selamat bulan Agustus - September 2021. Berhubung kegiatan pengabdian masih berlangsung pada masa pandemi, maka aktivitas pelatihan dan evaluasi seluruhnya dilakukan secara daring. Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis aktivitas hubungan media yang dilakukan oleh Universitas Islam Indonesia, saat kejadian Tragedi Diksar Mapala UII. Kejadian tersebut merupakan krisis karena tidak diduga, terjadi secara mendadak, dan menimbulkan gangguan pada aktivitas dan citra organisasi. Hubungan media adalah salah satu aktivitas yang penting dalam manajemen krisis, karena media massa mampu mempengaruhi persepsi masyarakat terhadap satu organisasi dalam krisis. Dalam situasi krisis sendiri, persepsi dapat menjadi lebih kuat daripada fakta. Batasan hubungan media dalam tulisan ini adalah dalam aspek penyediaan informasi yang terdiri dari : (1) kualitas narasumber organisasi dan (2) cara organisasi dalam membantu liputan media. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan mewawancarai wartawan dari media di Yogyakarta yang meliput Diksar Mapala UII. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa media membutuhkan narasumber pimpinan tertinggi universitas. Informasi yang diperoleh dari humas universitas dirasa masih kurang cukup. Dalam hal upaya organisasi membantu aktivitas liputan, UII dinilai masih kurang cepat dan kurang terbuka dalam memberikan informasi. The purpose of this article is to analyse the media relations activities by Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), related to crisis "Tragedi Diksar Mapala UII". This incident lead to crisis because it is unpredictable, happen suddenly, disturb the organizational activities, and make the organization's image being at risk. Media relations is one important activites in crisis management. It is because mass media could affect the public perception toward an organization. In crisis situation, perception could be stronger than the fact. The limitation of media relations in this article are information subsidies. Information subsidies consist of : (1) the quality of news sources that provided by the organization, and (2) how organization facilitate the news gathering process by the media. The data for this article is being collected from interview with journalist from the mass media in Yogyakarta. The results are media want the top management of the universities as the news sources. The information that being provided by public relations is not enough. The university also lack of quickness and lack of openess.

Abstract

This paper aims to know about content of the news and editorial policy in Republika, when the media coverage news about Inter Milan and Satria Muda Pertamina. Both of the sport teams are owned by Erick Thohir, the boss of Republika. Based on literature, the interest of mass media owner and newsroom policy often difference. Because mass media owner have their goals, meanwhile the newsroom should obey the professional journalism standard. At the practice, the newsroom make usually make a compromise.This paper uses qualitative research methods. The data collecting technique are using documentary research and interviews. The documentary research held by collecting and analyzing news about Inter Milan and Satria Muda in Republika daily newspaper (print edition). The time period for Inter Milan news is August 2014 to October 2015 while Satria Muda in January to June 2016. At the time frame, both club did not win any competition that they were participated. So, at that time the club was in the negative period. The interviews held with the representative of the Republika sport section editor to confirm the result from text analysis.As the findings from text analysis, Republika always brings good news to Inter Milan and Satria Muda Pertamina, although both team was not winning the competition, and there were relatively much negative results in the single season. Republika explained that they have direct access to news sources from Inter Milan and Satria Muda Pertamina directly. So Republika will gain more information from both club than the other media. Not only in sporting theme (e.g. match results, preview, review), Republika sometimes deliver the news about the figure of Erick Thohir. Keywords : editorial policy, media ownership, sport journalism, sport communication

Abstract

The Indonesian National Badminton team is one of the most successful national teams in international competition. Such success has brought a significant contribution to Indonesian national pride. However, in terms of popularity, this sport is less popular when compared to football. Consequently, there are only a few Indonesian sports media that specializes in reporting and discussing badminton. This study aims to determine the newsroom management of badminton media in Indonesia, in particular Majalah Bulutangkis and bulutangkis.com. Newsroom management is an important element in mass media. This study uses the qualitative method, with interviews as data collecting techniques. The informants are editors-in-chief from bulutangkis.com and Majalah Bulutangkis. In general, the results of the study show that both media regularly cover badminton tournaments participated by Indonesian badminton players. News related to events outside the field is also presented, including the side story related to badminton to keep the readers from being bored. From an organizational perspective, both media are experiencing a lack quantity of journalists, so they use freelance contributors or recruit volunteers. In practice, both media use websites as a platform to provide information and the Readers Forum to build interaction with their readers as well as invite readers to submit articles. This condition causes both media to be less active in maintaining their social media accounts. The evaluation stage is carried out by looking at the accuracy of the information and the use of language.

Abstract

Media relations atau hubungan media merupakan aktivitas yang penting dilakukan di masa pandemi, karena dengan media relations organisasi dapat merespon isu-isu yang berkembang sekaligus menjaga kredibilitas di hadapan pemangku kepentingan. Sasaran dari kegiatan hubungan media adalah wartawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pandangan wartawan terhadap media relations Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI) di masa pandemi. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data secara wawancara dengan wartawan olahraga yang biasa meliput di PSSI. Wawancara dilakukan secara daring dengan menggunakan video telekonferensi Zoom dan surat elektronik pada periode Agustus 2021-September 2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum pandemi, PSSI relatif terbuka bagi wartawan. Namun saat masa pandemi, respon PSSI sangat lambat ketika wartawan hendak melakukan konfirmasi terutama untuk isu yang negatif. Komunkasi yang dilakukan PSSI cenderung satu arah, hanya sekadar mengirimkan keterangan perstertulis atau tautan informasi yang terdapat di website PSSI.org, sementara wartawan memandang informasi pada website masih normatif. Wartawan juga merasa kurang leluasa untuk mengembangkan pertanyaan pada sesi konferensi pers secara daring yang dilangsungkan PSSI.

Abstract

This research analyzed the use of official media of the Indonesia football club used by the fans. The context of official media is the official club website and official social media account of the club. The football club needs to manage the official media (especially in the internet platform) to build interaction and relationships with its fans. An engaging interaction and relationship with fans will strengthen the fans' loyalty to the club. This research used qualitative methods, with an interview in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) format as the data collecting technique. The informants were the university student aged 18-21 years old and the fans of PS Sleman (written with PSS hereafter) football club. The number of participants was eight. FGD held in May 2017, when in that year, PSS became the only Liga 2 contestant that had a verified Twitter account. Results showed that although the informants used the PSS official media, they were unsatisfied because the PSS official media lacked interactivity, updating information, and the completeness of the information. To fulfill their expectations, informants use the unofficial media, usually the fans-driven media. For informants, the unofficial media performance was much more significant than the PSS official media

AbstractThis research aims to know how The Ministry of Youth and Sports Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) and Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) in FIFA suspension for Indonesia caseThe starting point of this research is crisis could hit every organization. In crisis situation, organization should release official statement to give explanation to public and to save their images. Official statement came from framing process. This research use frame model from Robert N Entman as tools for analysis. The data resources is official statement from Kemenpora RI and PSSI in period April 2015-May 2016. The results are : in define problem and defining causes, both parties are blaming each others. In making moral judgement, both organizations show up their effort to find solution and blaming others with example from football governance in another countires. In treatment recomendation, PSSI focus on the Indonesia national football team, and Kemenpora RI focus on reparation for football managemeng in Indonesia.Keywords : crisis communication, frame analysis, sport communication, sport public relations

Abstract

Abstrak Kualitas berita yang terdapat pada website kelurahan di lingkungan administratif pemerintah Kota Yogyakarta masih belum baik dari segi pembaruan informasi, pemilihan tema berita, dan teknik penyajian berita. Kegiatan pengabdian bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada pengelola website kelurahan agar dapat menyajikan berita dan informasi yang berkualitas. Mitra kegiatan pengabdian adalah Dinas Komunikasi, Informatika, dan Persandian (Dinkominfosan) Kota Yogyakarta. Kegiatan pengabdian terdiri dari : (1) tahap persiapan berupa diskusi dengan mitra untuk mengetahui permasalahan yang dihadapi dan materi pelatihan yang dibutuhkan; (2) tahap pelaksanaan terdiri dari pelatihan penyusunan tema berita, penulisan berita, teknik fotografi, dan penulisan caption foto; (3) tahap evaluasi terhadap hasil kerja peserta. Secara umum dari segi teknis penulisan, sejumlah hal yang masih perlu ditingkatkan adalah kelengkapan unsur berita, serta penyajian informasi berupa wawancara dengan narasumber – karena dari berita yang sudah diunggah kebanyakan baru menggunakan teknik observassi, tanpa menyajikan wawancara dengan narasumber. Peserta pelatihan sudah menunjukkan kemampuan yang baik dalam mengambil gambar dan mendapatkan moment pengambilan gambar. Hal yang masih perlu ditingkatkan adalah tentang komposisi gambar semisal masih banyaknya ruang kosong yang pada sisi sebelah samping, atas, atau bagian bawah foto, serta pencahayaan. Dari hasil berita yang diunggah di website kelurahan pasca pelatihan, beberapa dikutip oleh media massa/perusahaan pers sebagai bahan berita   Abstracts The quality of news on sub-district websites in the administrative environment of the Yogyakarta City government is still not good in terms of updating information, selecting news themes and news presentation techniques. The service activity aims to provide understanding to subdistrict website managers so they can present quality news and information. The service activity partner is the Yogyakarta City Communication, Information and Cryptography Department (Dinkominfosan). Service activities consist of: (1) the preparation stage in the form of discussions with partners to find out the problems faced and the training materials needed; (2) the implementation stage consists of training in preparing news themes, news writing, photography techniques, and writing photo captions; (3) evaluation stage of the participants' work results. In general, from a technical writing perspective, a number of things that still need to be improved are the completeness of news elements, as well as the presentation of information in the form of interviews with sources - because most of the news that has been uploaded has only used observation techniques, without presenting interviews with sources. The training participants have demonstrated good skills in taking pictures and getting the shooting moment. Things that still need to be improved are the image composition, such as the amount of empty space on the sides, top or bottom of the photo, as well as lighting. From the news results uploaded on the sub-district website after the training, some were quoted by the mass media outlets as news material
